Sims 2 External HD help

Anyone here ever install The Sims 2 + multiple expansions onto an external hard drive? I'm trying to help my gf out, but am having trouble getting it to run properly. The original plus two "stuff" packs worked fine, but when we got to major expansions like Free Time, kept getting an error saying the game had crashed when trying to play it.

Any help is much appreciated, thank you!

It shouldn't matter where it's installed as long as everything is installed on the same drive.... so like your main sims 2 game is on your external drive along with the expansions, vs sims 2 on your C: Drive and the expansions on the external drive.

Yea, everything was put on the external except a folder that needed to go to My Documents on the C: according to the installer.

I'm wondering if it is something with the file paths because once or twice it said that it wouldn't install just selecting F: as the install location. Then, I just created a new generic folder on the F: and it let it install fine.

I'll check out the support page tho.
