Anyone else having difficulting downloading demos from the Playstation Shop? I've tried for a couple of days now to get the Motorsport (offroad racing) demo but it eventually times out or says an error has occured. Doesn't look like my wireless connection is dropping, just that Sony's Network is having problems feeding out the download.

Sucks...I have been able to download some earlier (got the Gran Tourismo HD download which is larger than the Motorsport one).

It has been hit or miss for me. It took over an hour to download and install Syphon Filter PSX (it may have been closer to two hours, really), but GTHD took very little time at all.

I can't help but think that this is an issue with the PS3's wireless. People complaining of slow download speeds always seem to be using wireless and my 20GB model has always been pretty speedy. (It's connected via a wireless game adapter, but the connection to the PS3 itself is via a cable.)

It may not affect everyone using wireless, but so far I haven't heard of anyone using a wired connection with this problem. Of course, it might also just be an intermittent Playstation Network issue.

I hope Sony figures out what the problems are and fixes it. I know it isn't my wireless network as it works fine with a laptop, PC workstation, Wii, and 360 (all at the same time even). I should not have to take on the added expense of getting a gaming adapter, that was the entire reason for selecting the 60G wireless in the first place.

yeh, i have a 60 gb ps3...the downloads takes at a whoppin 2hours jus to download a demo!... wats up with that! i tried wire and wireless, both have same conclusion!!!
im clueless..... >.

I have a 60 gb PS3, I plug in the ethernet cable instead of wireless, AND I still get slow downloads. I gave up on all downloads until Sony fixes their shit.

when you guys say blazing fast how long did it take for you guys to download 600-800mb of demo?

I haven't had any problems downloading and installing any demos before, but they do take a bit of time over wireless for me. Probably >40 minutes to download things like gthd, the resistance demo, and what not. Basically the larger files are just about > 40 minutes, but the smallers ones that are maybe 100-200mb take about 20 minutes.

I'm all over wireless...I could try hooking up an ethernet cable and downloading to see if it goes any faster, but I'd have to move a few things around...and I'm so so lazy lol

I'm that one man....

I switched to the wireless and the downloads started working again >.>

1. Wired straight to modem, worked fine.
2. Wired to D-Link Gaming Router DGL-4300, got download error at 0% consistently.
3. Tried wireless on the router and Downloads started working again, albeit the same speed as wired straight to the modem.

conclusion....I'm left clueless...downloads on PC work fine wired through router >.>

I created my own thread but it was totally ignored....?=/

btw, i did all three on the same day in the same hour. GTHD took me about 15-20 minutes to DL ^^, NBA 07' took 40 min -.-

hmm well I tested out some downloading last night using wired and wireless connections.....it seems my wireless is definitely much slower, either that or something was just wrong with the net or router or the playstation store or something...

Anyway here are the results from downloading the Genji demo (579mb)

Wired Wireless

25% 7:50 12:51
50% 16:08 26:38
75% 24:07 41:20
100% 32:08 54:57

the wired test was done maybe around 10pm. I did very light internet browsing and I had a bittorrent running an upload. The wireless was done around 4am (went to watch a movie), with a little more moderate internet browsing, but I had the bittorrent upload turned off. It may have been the browsing that was the cause of this, but a whopping 23 minute total difference? i dunno...

It's very hit or miss for me. I'm using a wired connection with the 60GB model, and sometimes demos will take hours and hours to download. GTHD was really quick, though. 20 minutes or so, tops.

It'd be nice if there was some content actually worth downloading, though. That's the bigger problem.

PS3 wireless is a piece of shit it is so slow I wish I had not bought the 60 gig. I run my computer and 360 on wireless with no problem it is as fast as my wired network. Sony needs to get off its ass.

I have a 20GB system, and it fluctuates... as things often do on the internet. Sometimes it's quite fast, other times it's as if glaciers were passing my PS3. I had one timeout trying to get the Gran Turismo demo, but I waited a day or so and tried again with great success.

I use wireless for my laptop... something like the Ps3 or the 360 that doesn't move all that much likes wires better in my setup. :)
