I can put pictures on it, music files, and VC games. And transfer gamesaves to the 0 people I know who have a Wii. Shouldn't the internal memory last for a while unless I'm buying all of the VC? I want a card just to have one, but I can't help but feel it's extraneous.

Mainly for backup. Also, once/IF you start to download alot of VC games, it'll be good to put the ones you don't play often on your SD card and remove it from your Wii to ensure you aren't using all the memory.

So yeah, in short: For backup

Yeah they are really cheap. I got mine from Buy.com for $21 after google check out & mail in rebate.

Edit: A 2GB SD card

Gamecube games use Gamecube memory cards. The saves on the Gamecube memory cards can NOT be backed up onto the SD card.

the VC games can go on the SD card? so then is it only the Wii's software that prevents the VC games from being played on another Wii?

That I can't answer with specific details. But maybe our Wii Codes are linked to it, and that's how another system would know NOT to play it.

Right now you only need one to use the PhotoChannel.

Later on you might run out of room and want some extra storage space so you don't have to delete saves or redownload VC games everytime you want to play them. And it's never a bad idea to backup games saves and what not.
