I recently entered into a trade with someone here on CAG. It was my first time and I was rather excited. I got rid of Zone of the Enders 2 for Silent Hill 2 and Radiata Stones. I got ZOE from a blockbuster used game. I bought the game because of how good it looked. It was missing the instruction manual but what the heck. Well I played for a while and I didn't really like it, not my cup of tea. Anyway a little while later I joined CAG and I decdided to put it on my trade list.

I knew it would go quick because it is semi rare and a lot of people like this game. Well I was right. Now I know for a fact this game was in great condition!!! I checked it twice, once right before I first bought it and once right before I packaged it, call me paranoid but I tend to be very anal with my video games.

Well I just received a pm from the person I am trading with and to make a long story short, he says the game is destroyed, hundreds of scratches all over it, and he is not even sure if it is playable. I stand there shocked as I read. How could this have happenned. So I pm him back apologetic, explaining that I don't know how this could of happenned. I offer to have him send the game to me and I will send his games back, which I haven't even received yet, all at my expense.

He pms back, and I am paraphrasing now, that he thinks it would be a better idea for me to just send him 8 dollars via paypal. This would reimburse him for the cost of having the game resurfaced as well as the risk he is taking keeping the game.

Guys I am being screwed and I feel like this guy is holding my feedback hostage. What can I do. On top of all that if I do have him send the game back, I know I will not get it in the condition I sent it, because that would make him a liar.

Somebody help!!!!
 
I dont know the rules regarding this but if he tries to screw with you just make it a point to let everyone on cag know how shitty this guy is. people on this site can be pretty brutal.
 
well this person sounds kinda shady, do you have any pics of the game? how is the person's trader rating? Obviously he still wants the game, for all you know he didnt even send out your games. I would wait till you get the ones in the mail before you proceed any further
 
Ikohn i am right around the corner from you in bristol, whats up neighbor. his rating is like a 140 something with 1 negative and 10 or so neutral. This sucks I traded him a game that I knew was worth 40 bucks for 2 bargain bin games cuz I didn't feel like ebay hassles and I really want the 2 games. Now I wish I didn't.
 
I'm sorry did I say 10 neutral, he has had 19 in the past 12 months. :cry: I am an idiot, why did i trade with this guy.
 
I think it's kind of weird that he would still send you his games even though he wasn't satisfied with the condition of the game he received. I mean, what's the point of you sending first if he doesn't look at what he got. If I were him, I would have just taken up your offer to return the game to you. My guess is just you guys have a different opinion on the condition of the item, so if he returned it, it shouldn't be too far off from what you expect it to be. If you think can resell it for more, I'd just try to get the game back.

And if he's the guy I'm thinking of, he's got 12 neutrals in the last 12 months, not 19.

Well I got the games and they are both in not so great condition. Radiata Stories is passible, some scratches on the DVD and the case has some dings in it. Silent Hill 2 on the other hand is pretty bad. The case has multiple tears and dings in it. The DVD has multiple scratches and adhesive on the bottom. The booklet is in the same condition as the case.

What is worst is, I noticed this guy has multiple copies of ZOE: the second runner. So if I get my game back I will no doubt get whichever copy is in the worst condition.

I am currently corresponding with a moderator on this subject. I will let everyone know how this turns out. Needless to say, this guy is NOT getting a penny from me. :bomb:
