CAGiversary!
The fact that geeks, particularly of the gaming variety, don't like to hear/read any negativity about what they like is old hat and will never change. I'm almost at peace with that. Thing is, I've submitted a handful of podcast reviews on iTunes, some very positive, some...not quite as much. As you and the sun rising in the east might have guessed, the more stars I gave a podcast, the higher the percentage of people who found it 'helpful'.
Until now.
While grabbing the latest "GFW Radio", I noticed that someone very recently added a "Not Helpful" submission to my review of it. So, by extension, I became curious to check on my others. Imagine the mixture of incredulity and bemusement on my face when I saw that all of my reviews were--within the last couple days, I'm positive--tarnished with a "Not Helpful". This could only be the work of one person.
But who? Could it be someone from Ziff-Davis, bumping me down the list? No, because most of my reviews for their shows are very positive, and not all of my reviews are for their podcasts. And the "OPM" podcast has been defunct for months. (Similarly, I haven't submitted a review in months.) No, this has to be some utterly pathetic, irredeemable 'user' who actually took offense to one of my reviews and decided to go off on anything I contributed, good or bad. Maybe I should write a five-star bogus review for a "Cat Fancy" podcast (if there is one), just to see if they check back and bite the bait.
I even had to wonder if it's someone here that connected some dots. If on that off-chance it is,
you. I don't care about these reviews, contrary to what you're thinking right now, but it really speaks volumes for the gaming community when you've got little (or very big) snivelling shits that 'exact revenge' on someone for stating an opinion by pissing on every carpet they own. Were I hardwired differently, I might actually feel sorry for them.
Anyone else got any stories about this sort of thing, maybe even someone with a major-league vendetta following you around to other forums where you're registered under the same name? Anyone else experience the phenomenon that is no one being able to find a 'fair warning' helpful, and sometimes taking ridiculous offense to it?
Until now.
