I work at EB, and yesterday a customer came in with PoP:WW, DoAU, three PO (non-excluded) games, and 1 POX game (excluded from deals). He was picking up DMC3, and I wanted to get him the best deal possible. Trading in the games straight up would have gotten him $45, but I knew if he had 5 PO titles he could get it for free. So I explained that the price of the PoP and DoA would go down a bit, but the three PO titles would go up to $10 each, so he'd save like $9 since it doesn't charge you tax when you do the deals either. Thing is, when I rung them all up, it left PoP and DoA at $15/$17, and boosted the others up to $10, so he got it for free and had ~$12 left over. So, basically, if you're trading in some higher priced games, you can combine them with crappy PO games to boost up their value and still spend the difference (and not have to have 5 throwaway PO titles). Sorry if that wasn't too well-explained, hopefully you understand what the hell I'm saying. And it might be obvious to some, but it was definitely a surprise to me (the computer working in your favor, instead of against you).

So, Are you saying that using it with the deal boosts the games under 10 bucks each up to 10 bucks each, and games over 10 bucks each will stay at their higher price?

hmm, that's odd. perhaps it only works with trade-in deals on games that are currently out, and not pre-orders. since it makes more sense to have left-over credit at that point.
But those games sealed are worth a lot more then 15 and 17 dollars.
Where is it written that they were sealed?

that couldn't be more irrelevant to this topic. plus, this is EB we're talking about.

rocksolidaudio, since you work at eb, can you tell me if they have different trade in prices at every EB? and also, if i wanted to just trade in two POX games, such as unopened 2003 jampacks, how much would i get? thanks..and by the way thanks for the heads up on the tip

prices should be the same at every EB. and for 2003 jampacks? 25 cents a piece, if you're lucky. i'll guess ten cents.

Prices are the same for every EB, unless some employee overrides the price, which we can do ;)

I always help out customers like that. Not only good for them, but good for the store as well, since we track trade #'s every day.

Heh, Sorry! I somehow read "POX"(What does that mean anyway?) and thought they were sealed, go figure, maybe it was when the hypoglycemia was kicked in...

rocksolidaudio, you work at EB and didn't know this that is so sad because I knew about this month's ago when I traded in GTA:SA and PoP:WW for like 25 a piece to pre-order Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

I bet the transaction could go either way, I think that usually you don't have to trade in 5 to get the bump up.

So, you could trade in the three non-POX titles for $30. Then trade in the higher value ones separately for their full value and not be knocked down . . . RIGHT?

Yes, you they don't get knocked out. If the game is worth $12, you still get $12, not $10.
