Good price to get in at, figured MSRP would be $60 like usual. My hopes are high for this title since Colours was surprisingly good and since they're promising some solid 2D action (I think they're finally starting to get why their 3D-only titles flop, save Adventure 1 + 2, and MAYBE Heroes). In for 1, thanks OP.

Edit: I'm a HUGE Sonic fan, so... don't let me get anyone else's hopes up. But you can always cancel your pre-order.

I agree that Sonic games are going up in quality with the recent Sonic Colors being a prime example. However, the track record doesn't make me want to pre-order a Sonic game. Here's hoping that this game proves me wrong!

And I nailed my preorder down on this when I saw this price last week, so I'm hoping they change it to $60 so I can feel awesome about it.

Same here. I played trough Rush and its sequel, but I won't touch Sonic 4. Sonic Colors (DS) seems to have the same weird physics as Sonic 4.

In either case, thanks for the head's up OP, ordered one. Sonic Colors (Wii) was pretty good.

I played Sonic Rush and Sonic Colors. Colors may be based on Rush's engine but it was a lot more playable than Rush. Also, there's lots less bullshit bottomless pits.
 
Ugh why does every Sonic thread on the internet always ends up with a Sonic games suck vs don't suck anymore discussion.

focus on the deal, if the MSRP is 59.99 you just saved 10.04, if it isn't..just cancel.
 
Thanks, pre-ordered it and will hope for some credit. I loved sonic colors, the daytime stages in unleashed, and of course classic sonic so unless they do something extreme *coughwerehogcough* I'm sure I'll love this.

Hate to make this topic be more of a Sonic debate, but I haven't touched 4 with a 10-foot pole. Might change my mind if Episode 2 turns out better (rumoured to have a bigger budget/mistakes learned). I also loved the daytime parts of Unleashed, and think they're underrated. A possible pre-emptive save of $10 on this is a no-brainer because you can easily cancel*.

Sega games drop pretty quick these days. ONLY saving $10 is a bit of a waste. Colors wasn't bad, but just wasn't all that good good. 4 was awful, and THAT was the time where they were spending the OH WE'RE GOING BACK TO THE ROOTS CLASSIC SONIC FOR REAL THIS TIME GUYS card. How many times do they think they can revisit that well?
 
Those dudes in the videos above seem really douchie. Telling other people how to think and assuming their tastes are the correct and only way to view things. I hate people like them.

I got scared off of Sonic 4 by all the bad reviews/gameplay videos. I figured I could just wait for a Sonic 4 bundle/see how good Ep 2 was (which I said earlier). Tags on this thread are kinda funny.

Those videos are jokes, you guys. And they're actually pretty clever, taking a premise and running with it.

I do have high hopes for this game. I might preorder. Then again, I thought Sonic 4 was good fun even if it wasn't 100% perfect. It's like you guys played a different game than me (which is true of any time Rolling Skull states his opinion on a game).

Oh you.

I could see people liking Sonic 4. I REALLY don't understand all the griping about the physics. Yeah, pics of Sonic standing at a 45 degree angle make great punchlines, but the actual fun of the game is the issue. I did not find a lot of fun in Sonic 4, but I did manage to get through it.

The music was indefensible though. I've heard better automatically generated midis. What lousy stuff. I probably would have forgiven a lot more of the game had the music been less garbage.

To be honest, I can also see people liking Colors. There, the music was spectacular and large parts of the game were great fun. It was just usually the scenes 2-5 of each act and the lousy boss fights that turned me off it.
 
Colors was really great, so I have high hopes for this, though since I'm a CAG I'll wait for this to hit 20 or below. Thanks OP, it seems like people are being jerks less often now though, which is a good thing. There was a huge uprising of jerks around every corner last year, and they pretty much killed theses forums. They stopped me from posting, I got tired of posting things only to be bombarded by comments of people complaining that it's not a deal because it was $3 cheaper two months ago at target or sears during an extreme YMMV deal that only a few people were able to get.

I remember when CAG was brimming with deals and you would see a whole page of new deals a day, now I can go a week without checking here and it looks almost the same. It's nice seeing everyone being friendlier now, maybe we've realized that it's not a good idea to insult people when they're trying to save us money and share deals. I hope that things pick up again during black Friday, and that we start getting more traffic.

No, I don't.

In the videos, they are interacting with a dude who takes the part of the Sonic enthusiast. They are telling that person that they are stupid for enjoying something that THEY don't enjoy. That is douchie. If they don't like the game that is fine. But telling others that their tastes and preferences are idiotic is douchie and shows a lack of perspective.

One of the points that video makes is about people forming an opinion about something before they actually give it a try.
 
The thing is, satire should be more subtle. These videos hammer it over you head so hard that it's obnoxious. Furthermore, it's highly pretentious.

Apparently it's "cool" to hate the new sonic games which is a shame for those that haven't played these above games already. Sonic all-stars racing is one of my favorites for the ps3.

I love when a new Sonic game comes out there's always some douche that posts a youtube video showing some meaningless gameplay video showing why it's "unplayable".

Rush and Rush Adventure sucked. Colors is Rush with better level design.
 
Yeah the two Rush games were pretty solid. 2D Sonic games have always been solid (except for maybe the GameGear ones).

Don't forget the Sonic Advance games, which were good.

There have only been a handful of pretty terrible Sonic games, and unfortunately they came out next to each other:

Sonic Heroes (debatable)
Sonic 2006
Sonic and the Black Knight
 
Unleashed was also very solid...the daytime Sonic levels anyways, which is what they made Colors to be and what modern Sonic levels will be in this game. They're good stuff and very fast paced which I love.
 
Have they said if the Classic Sonic levels can use the D-pad?

It's honestly the deciding factor between the version I'll pre-order.
 
I completely forgot about All Stars Racing, that game was amazing. Next best thing after Mario Kart.

And was the first game i 1000/1000'd. (Though, that damn Sega Mile grinding got annoying)

I would say it was better than the most recent MK at least. Really great gem though, loved it.
