Sonic murdered bia load screen

CAGiversary!
*sorry about topic spelling error bia should be via. Long day*

Sonic the Hedgehog was a symbol of speed and was the closest competitor maskot wise to challenge Mario back in the day. Now it seems he has been put into a wheelchair with square wheels. We have all seen games with bad load times but this takes the cake and eats it. Must be seen to believe.

This is the game on Xbox 360. Do not attempt to say its because the system is slow...as this is obviously very poor game engineering. A 10-15second load screen for a character to say a line of text? Are you insane? watch the entire 5min video t see what i mean.

I hope it's a little better on the PS3 because *Raises Flameshield*
I just ordered the PS3 version off of Play Asia last night

Holy.....shit.

This is exactly why Sonic should have lived and died on one console....

......................the Sega Genesis.

They have a defective 360 because while the loading for missions is HORRIBLE, I'd say it takes about half of what this video shows...

isnt this old news? I'm pretty sure a friend of mine bought this crappy game despite the many times I told him not to, unless there is another sonic on the xbox 360 console i dont know about. following that assumption, since i am too lazy to check, gametrailers put out a video review a while ago which was very negative, albeit the game deserved very verbal beatdown they gave it.

even if you overlook the loading issues, the game itself isn't very good. err ill find the gametrailers link now...

"A title that should've never sped its way into the next generation of gaming."

It's sad to see a company's flagship series get a bad treatment. It really shows that they just dont love it as much a nintendo loves mario.
I always liked Sonic over Mario and its been harder and harder with every release to find a Sonic game that is as good as the originals on the Genesis. :(

I played the demo of Sonic on XBox360... the game is beyond bad. Its a tragedy. And this is coming from someone who adored Sonic "back in the day" of his Sega Genesis glory. Long load times, terrible and jerky camera, "on rails" but you can still fly off of platforms at an alarming rate to your doom. The controls are wonky, the graphics are clippy, its just a bad game all around. Why Sega has unleashed such a plethora of poor software this past few generations is a mystery. For every game they get "right" (Panzer Dragoon Orta, Shenmue and didnt they do GUNVALKYRIE?) they get a half dozen "wrong" like Altered Beast, Shadow the Hedgehog, etc.

Im hoping the Sonic Rings game will be a redemption for them, and high hopes for Golden Axe too. Nothing would make me happier than to see Sega turn around their company. I wonder why they have not resurrected NiGHTS or tried their hand at a true Phantasy Star RPG? Something on the scale to compete with the big guns like Final Fantasy. Yes, I am aware of the online thing but that doesnt count.

Some more ChuChu Rocket/Space Channel 5/Samba De Amigo action would be highly appreciated too.

My goodness... I couldn't even watch the entire thing because the first minute of the video was already too much.

I thought that the two Sonic games on the DC were pretty good but it seems that every Sonic game after those suck. The Sonic game that came out on the DS not to long ago is pretty good. I would like to see Sega step up a little in the quality department with their 3D Sonic games because it is sad to see Sega releasing such a huge title with so many bugs and broken gameplay.

With the exception of Sonic Rush, there has not been a good Sonic game since Adventure 1 on DC.

I'm convinced that Sega simply does not give a shit anymore about its fans or its well-established series. After Dreamcast failed, they just haven't given a shit.

EDIT: Just actually watched the video. What the fuck?

That's insane and hilarious, but irrelevant. Sonic could take three hours to load a line of text and that still wouldn't be the worst thing about it. The game is an unplayable mess even if it loaded instantly.

And I totally disagree about Rush. Yeah it's a million times better, but that's not saying anything. It's got great graphics and music, but it quickly becomes unplayable unless you memorize stages, move slowly, and keep replaying stuff, which is all contrary to what Sonic should be about.

I haven't liked a Sonic game since Sonic Advance 1 and Sonic Adventure 1 on the Dreamcast (and that was broken, but at least fun in parts). The Gamecube port of Sonic Adventure 1 wasn't even any good.

Sonic Rush is awful. I failed trying to beat the Casino stage about 25 times now mostly because the controls suck hard. I've given up on it.

:whistle2:k
Sonic Rush is the best Sonic in years. I loved it.

And I never noticed any bad controls....?

Perhaps "controls" was the wrong term to use. I fell and died in the same spot about 10 times because Sonic wouldn't grab onto a rope and swing.

Wow. Thats the only word I can think of. Except for fucking pathetic. Or Horseshit. Bullcock. Poppycock. Hornswaggling. ...or bad.

I liked Sonic Adventure 1...

The demo for the 360 Sonic game alienated me almost instantly. Horrible fucking camera. You can't to 3D platforming and speed at the same time.

You better hope there's a option to pre-load it onto the HD, otherwise, be prepared to suffer the wrath of Blu-Ray.

As for what I dub Sonic 360; I'm in the middle of renting it right now and dear lord is it crap. I'm possible one of CAGs biggest Sonic fans and this game just pisses me off. Not because of how lame it is, because it does somethings right, and at least attempts to improve on it. It just feels like the entire game was rushed, but in a lazy way.

After besting the first two levels and sitting through crap after crap i had to swicth over and beat Sonic 2 just to get the bad taste out my mouth :(
Apparently Sonic Rush was not even developed by the tools at Sonic Team, and instead by Dimps.
They also did the Sonic Advance series. I thought SA 1 & 2 were decent, but not all that great, but SA3 was fantastic, and Sonic Rush was simply phoneminal. It's a sad time we live in when the legendary Sonic Team gets bested by a bunch of third party devs.

Unless they did a lot of optimization chances are it will be slower since the PS3's Blu Ray drive is only half the speed of the 360's DVD drive.

Actually, there are video's of PS3 loading times on youtube somewhere and people are saying its a little quicker than the 360 version. I haven't played the 360 version myself so I can't compare it.

Again, it could be an option to preload on the HD.

To quote a review in a popular video game magazine ( I'm thinking GI )

"Next gen oppurtunity knocks, leaves."

Everything is about graphics nowdays. We need more games like Okami to put people back into perspective, that there can be a good game without overly realistic graphics. If they were to make a Viewtiful Joe esque 2d platformer and have it a budget title, then it'd do extremely well. It could give you the speed that the older sonics offered but also capitalize on the next-gen capabilities.

But that. I don't even know what the hell is going on with THAT. That's ridiculous. Shame is that a bunch of people will buy it because it's a next gen Sonic and be highly dissapointed :(.
Not sure, here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8CtHGYCCmg&mode=related&search=

Anyone who has played the 360 version, is it better/worse/about the same?
I don't get that video-he spends like 5 minutes going back and forth on the menus, and then finally starts a game and shows the whole video. How about actually showing the GAME?!? There's no way to judge load times from that video.

Moot point if it's faster though. Unless they fixed the PS3 version (which doesn't seem likely), the load times would be the least of it's problems, even if it loads instantly.

So that was from a demo released to the public? Or from the full game? Either way "Must be seen to believe." is absolutely right.

If this is from a demo only given to industry people with a note that the load times are bad due to the game needing further polishing, then I could excuse it. But from the thread here, sounds like that isn't the case.

Ugh, I played the 360 demo of this game yesterday. What a load of crap. I didn't have a chance to notice the load times because the controls were so horrific. I died like 6 times on the opening little training level, and I'm no stranger to how 3D Sonic does or doesn't control. This takes the frustrating controls of SA1 & 2 and out does them by a factor of 10. Just trash.

SA1 and SA2 are two of my favorite games ever so that might be how I can enjoy this game :p

Yeah, there's no load time in the demo, and a lot of people are saying the full game is even worse (aside from the load time even).

The terrible load time is the least of the game's problems.

I didn't think anyone in their right mind would buy that turd once they played the demo on the Marketplace. That was horrible. Stopped watching around the 3:00 mark.
