And now for my quick review:
Totally kicks the @$$ out of the free weather and Opera browser I downloaded this week.
I was never a GT fan, or a sim racing fan in general until GT3. I felt right at home with this tech demo.
For a demo, it's pretty fleshed out options wise. I love that it lets you choose whether you want to output 1080i or 720p, the 7 or so wheel configs, even the timing of the "demonstrations". (clips when you don't move the controller) etc etc etc
1 track in both directions, and 10 cars.
Really wish there were a second track, or ability to play at night, but that's alright. The ranking feature really makes it worthwhile.
Other than Crackboy's weird replay... it's great incentive to get better and try to get your name on the top ten list.
I LOVE the fact that you can download their replay (didn't GT4 do this?) and see how they ran it, right down to their button presses and car settings. Gave me a few tips on my lap times, and I'm SOOO close to cracking the top ten with my Miata.
Visually, the game is the most beautiul racer I've seen yet.
Motorstorm is probably more thrilling, but this game is just so detailed and accurate.
I wish I had a 1080p set to fully experience it.
And Dolby Digital sound? Thanks!
All in all, a great, great great Christmas present from your friends at Sony.
F' you crackboy!
EDIT:
Forgot to mention Drift Mode which rates you your drifting ability with points rather than lap times.
I don't think a lot of people really play this yet, so my ranking is higher here.
No one has cracked 10,000 points with any of the cars as of yet... but on one of the "demonstration" clips it shows the rally Celica doing just that with ease. Man, perfect drifting...
