Sony Vs Sandisk memory sticks. Which is better?

FuzTurtle

CAGiversary!
I've read amazon reviewers say that (Regular Ones) Sandisk Memory sticks are no good after a week. What do you guys think? Should I get Sony Memory sticks or Sandisk Memory sticks? I also noticed Sandisk made Gaming Memory Sticks. Anybody who has these, can give me a review?

Gaming Memory Sticks = regular memory sticks with a different name.
Sandisk and Sony sticks are pretty much equal, and Sandisks definitely won't crap out after a week--I'd actually recommend them since supposedly they have a 5 year warantee.

yeah, the sony offers a 1 year warranty and the sandisk is 5. I just got my 512 san disk from amazon and can say it's very nice. My only complaints is just a stupid one: wish the color was different.

Technically there shouldn't really bee much of a differance outside of the warrenty. Scandisk makes their buisness from licencing other forms of media cards and creating more options for buyers, memrory cards like these are their bread and butter. Sometimes they sell them cheaper and sometimes they're just in stock when the sony brand versions arn't.

yeah, really.. who gives a crap about the color of the memory stick.
If you had a choice, Blue 1 gig memory stick for 120 or get the special green one for 150..which one would you choose?

For gaming there is no difference, the PSP has a read/write speed of 15MB/s

The Sony cards are faster, and are good for profession photographers.

Gaming sticks are slower, cheaper, and don't come with an adapter.

Yes, but sandisk also makes the regular pro duo which are the same price as the sony's, maybe even a little cheaper, and are the same as the sony's(I think). The only difference is that sandisk's comes with a 5 year warrenty where as the sony comes with only a 1 year warrenty. Correct me if im wrong.

light blue... it's not the "gaming" card, that, in my opinion, is sandisk's way of making more money off people who don't know anything at all about the PSP.

Got a deal on the orange 256mb and at first it looked like the odd man out with the blue sandisk 512 and 1gb I had. After awhile though the blue started wearing on me and actually like the colored versions of the cards.

Yes I know you can't see the card once it's in the psp, but for some reason I find myself liking the diff colored versions of the cards.

Uhh, the gaming card is about $10 LESS, and it doesn't have an adapter because you don't need one for gaming.

yes, I know, but oddly enough retailers online sell the non-gaming version WAY cheaper with the adapter, which is a nice addition in my opinion. In store, they are cheaper, but not online.

I have a 1 GB Sandisk (light blue one with adapter), haven't had any problems with it ever since it came in the mail last thursday. I've used it extensively trying to find the right FPS/Sound Quality for my movies!

well the price isnt all that important after sony's rebates, I'd stick with sony since I like to use official products for my precious psp.

Where did you find a 1GB for sale and how much did it cost?

Sandisk Pro Duo- Unlike Sony's stick, didn't come with an adapter. Called customer support, had one delivered in the mail FOC a week later. Also, Sandisk's big money savers are their fast, PRO Duo models, which do NOT support ATRAC compression. Would have been a nice thing to know before I bought it but, hell, still can play mp3's just fine.

its funny you should mention photographers, one of the main reasons id like a psp is to have a portfolio to carry around on it, because the resolution is beautiful (much nicer than ipod photo and other similar products)
