Speaker system or Hauppauge?

Just going to say it up-front: I don't have a job. I'm 17, and my current source of income is $20 a week from the mother bear for keeping the ol' room clean and helping around the house.

Right now, I have ~$115. Have been looking on Amazon and Newegg, and I was thinking I'd either get a speaker system for $90, or a Hauppauge HD PVR for YouTube video making/Justin.tv streaming, which I plan to do a bit of once Verizon FiOS gets off their ass and installs internet here at the house, for about $200.

Speaker system (I know several people who have it and love it):http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...=OTC-Froogle-_-Speakers-_-Logitech-_-36121006

Hauppauge HD PVR: http://www.amazon.com/Hauppauge-121...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1272934598&sr=8-1

Just looking for a 2nd opinion, really. Both would have about equal usage, albeit the speaker system may have more. Just thinking that if I don't get the Hauppauge now, I probably won't get one for a while considering the amount I'm getting per week. Too much of a gap to fill, in my opinion.

So, fellow CAGmates, what would you do?

Also: If I were to get a 10 foot RCA extension cable and a 20 foot RCA extension cable to mount the 2 rear speakers on the left and right walls of my room, would that kill the quality of those speakers?

Given your limited funds, I would buy the one that is going to be less likely to be replaced for the longer amount of time. I'd prolly get the HD PVR since speakers are always on sale and there are equal replacement values to be found, like nice headphones (which I prefer).

Depends on how good a rig you've got. If your PC isn't running a dual core or quad core processor the Hauppage is going to be useless because streaming HD video takes up a lot of power. Not only will you need to buy the HD PVR, you will need a large HDD and to continually buy blank DVD's.

IMO, I'd say go for the speaker system, I'm sure it will be used much more frequently than the HD PVR. It also costs much less. I think the Hauppage is a bit pricey for what it does.
