"Special" driver's license for California illegals

Well, I think the drinking age argument does have merit. I've always been allowed alcohol at home, and I never had any real desire to go off to a party just to get smashed, as it was never some "forbiden" pleasure that I was denied. It was something I've long been familiar with.

Though, why isn't anyone looking at the road safety issues of giving illegal immigrants licenses, assuming that they pass driving tests? It seems like everyones ignoring that part. There's no way to send them all back, you gotta work with what's reasonable.

Lets run over the wording here... ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT. Illegal means against the law. They immigrated illegal. They are here-say it with me- AGAINST THE LAW. I'm not being a bigot, I'm not being racist. Against the law is against the fucking law. Why should we cater to them just because they're more persistant?

The law is the problem.

Many immigrants want to come over.

Many businesses want them (and need them) here.

Make it legal and pay them a fair wage. Then everybody wins.

As for the alcohol arguement, the problem is that these "party in the woods" teens dont just endager their own lives after the party. Everyone on the road/sidewalk has the possibility of being hit by the teens. Add to that the fact that most teens can't see the connection between their actions and the consequences, and the popularity that they gain by "rebelling" against an unpopular ageist law, and you have a perfect recipe for disaster. However with the current state of American hysteria that leads to banning anything related to fun, most cowards in congress won't touch the issue with a ten foot pole.

How the hell do business need them? I'll give you that they want them, but thats only because they do more work for less money. They're willing to work for $3 and hour because they're here illegally. I'm surprised there hasn't been some jackass poilitician whining about how they should be paid more to work here illegally. If these business were going to pay a fair rate for labor they wouldn't hire illegals. How can businesses "need" illegal immigrants when a lot of legal citizens can't find work?

I generally agree with a lot of what you say, but here I think you're takin the coo-coo choo-choo to la-la land.

Actually it's really quite simple you need to create a national ID and put heavy fines on buisnesses who hire workers without them. It won't kill off illegal immigration but it will really cut down on it.

Well 2 options:

1.We'll pay for their bus fair back to Mexico

2. Body bags are also freely available, starvation isn't inhumane so long as we don't force it upon them.

Ohhhh, I can't work at a construction site, it's hard labor and I'll probably miss my Sanford and Sons TV reruns.

There are plenty of jobs out there, it's just that they aren't all CEO jobs with flex hours. Noone ever entitled you to a job (like someone on this board was intimating with the Anderson/Enron case), it's a free market and you've got to compete.

Like I said, if you can't hang, goto some socialist country where they'll put you on the dole and you can spend your time as a bum living on the seashore.

But you are forgetting that a labor glut helps create specific jobs, McD jobs exist because it is more cost efficient given the labor glut for unskilled labor to employ someone to try up french-fries than it is to hire an acutal cook. It's the same thing with wal-mart and all it's ilk, cheap labor is a basic garuntee of monopolies and big buisness since they of all people have the best means to exploit it.

How dare I want a job I spent a small fortune to get the piece of paper that says I can do.

I didn't go to college to learn "Would you like fries with that?"
And I sure as hell can't pay rent and all other fiscal obligations off of 5.15 an hour.

Not to mention the fact that I have been turned down for these possitions because I'm 'overqualified'. Meaning I know 5 bucks isn't enough to spend an hour moping up someones shit after they miss the can.

You really need to move to a socialist country.

They'll probably even pay for counselling, and you can cry to the shrink about how there aren't enough jobs for "French Poetry" majors in the world.

Going to college doesn't earn you the privilege, as that is what jobs are becoming in America these days..., of a job. You gotta beat off your competition with whatever you have available to you, quick wit, debating skills, occasional ruthlessness... the best thing to do with your diploma at that point would be to roll it up and smack your competitors with it.
