I bought this for my son last week, since I wanted something to make spelling a little less tedious and he loves his DS. It won't be as useful for him as I hoped (no being able to make word lists), but I'm having a good time with it.

I'm up to level 79.

If I have any gripes, it's too easy. It works by giving you a definition of the word you need to spell, and then it flashes the word on the screen. Why they didn't have someone *say* the word is beyond me, since it is trying to emulate a spelling bee.

However, for the most part, you need to know how to spell the words. The flash is just that -- really quick.

It breaks up the spelling action after each 10 word bee with three rotating activities. With some of them, you have to classify the word (noun, verb, adjective) or pick out the noun or verb. One activity asks you to pick the correctly spelled word out of two, another gives you four words and has you pick which of them are not correctly spelled, and there can be more than one. Finally, there's Mishmash, which is like the rotating letters puzzle in Brain Age 2, except here they don't move. Doing ten of these in a row with 10+ letter words is a challenge.

It sounds lame, even boring, but it's actually kind of neat. The spelling part is fun, and the activities are too and they break up what would probably get tedious quick. I'm hoping that once I get past level 100, there will still be stuff to do with it; otherwise, it's about a 2 hour title, but then I didn't get it for me.
