hi,
Spelunky for the PC is one of my favorite games ever. I'm dying to give microsoft my $10 for the XLBA version. Anyone have the inside scoop on when exactly it is coming out?
I bought this and have been playing it a lot. Great ... and infuriating game. LOL. But addicting. Fun stuff. Furthest I've gotten is 2-3. Such a hard game.
Was the multiplayer stuff in the Steam version, because it just feels tacked on. Especially the adventure mode. Not much fun in dying and then not doing anything until the other player(s) die too. Don't buy this for the multiplayer (neither adventure mode nor deathmatch), but the single player is awesome.
My first win... after 255 deaths, lol. *peeks at achievements* Wow, some of those will be brutal to get.
I had no idea what to do in 4-4 the first time I reached it. For those who want to know:
You have to get Olmec to fall into the lava at the bottom of the stage. He is immortal to everything else, including bombs.
Gear you should get (in order of importance):
compass, climbing hands, bombs (lots of them), spike boots, cape, rope (only need a little once you have climbing hands), sticky bomb (for blowing up exact wall spots, sometimes for combat), treasure chest eye
^ Yeah, if you play 4-4 the first time and have no idea what to do, then check the spoiler. The gear spoiler doesn't reveal anything amazing, just ruins your experimentation as to which gear is most effective.
Took me a long time to get through the 2-x levels (Jungle?). 3-x are easy, 4-x can be brutal. 4-x is the type of world that you can't practice using a tunnel because you'll probably die without gear. There are also secret worlds that I won't spoil. So far I've found two, but I think there are a few more ^_^
A somewhat retraction of what I said about multiplayer. Was playing some adventure mode with my kids and we discovered that the dead characters can trip traps like the arrow shooting ones and... they can come back to life! I'll put this in a spoiler:
I think, but I'm not 100% sure, that if you find a coffin and open it, then the dead player(s) come back to life. Or at least that is exactly what happened when I opened a coffin tonight.
So you have to be willing to take a limited supporting role until you can be revived, which might take a while, but if you are willing to do that it can be fun.
