Spiderman 2.1 worth it?

CAGiversary!
So Spiderman 3 is around the corner, and I want to go back and watch 1 and 2. I was wondering if the recent release of 2.1 is worth it with the extra footage and bonus disc? I really want to avoid double-dipping on this title until the blu-ray version comes out, but I might do it in this case since I really like spiderman. Circuit city has it on sale this week for $9.99 which is making me consider buying it.

Raimi has always said he's gotten final cut on the theatrical releases. He regards the extended DVD release of the original Spider-Man as being less true to his vision for the film, and I'm sure SM2 is the same.

I've read the reviews, and it seems the extra footage is really good - with extended action scenes and some key scenes which flesh out the characters more and provide a deeper narrative. That said, the sum total of all of them is 8 minutes. Even if these scenes are the best in the film, buying a whole new DVD for only an additional 8 minutes of footage is questionable, at best. Chances are, they'll eventually release this version on BlueRay, so if you're planning on getting that version, you're better off waiting.

Since it sounds like you're looking for both, check Wal-Mart. I'm pretty sure they still have the Spider-Man/Spider-Man 2 combo set for $14.88. The 2.1 version isn't something that is a must buy and if you're curious to see what the differences are, see if any of the movie rental stores near you have it for rent.

i think i'm just gonna rent it at some point to check out the add'l scenes.

doesn't sound like viewing 2.1 will really enhance my experience of 3 enough to bother with it.

on second thought, i'll just wait until someone posts the deleted scenes online and watch them there.

The new scenes are pretty cool but some of them replace old scenes. Ultimately, I prefer the theatrical cut in the end by a pretty large amount. It's worth having but I would keep both DVDs.

OK, that scene would be all right as a bonus feature, like an easter egg or something, but no way in hell do I want to see that cut into the movie. I was considering 2.1, but I think I'll stick to the theatrical cut, since I'd hate to have my love for Spidey2 ruined.

There's an extended version of Spider-Man 1?

After seeing the clips, I bought 2.1. Spider-Man 2 is a good enough film to justify having two marginally different copies. Unfortunately, early buzz says part 3 is a step backwards for the franchise.

I bought the first two, now i'm probably not going to buy any more untill a box set of all 6 come out (yes thats way in the future.), I don't feel like buying poo releases when you know something huge will come out later.

Don't listen to critics....most people have enjoyed the movie.

I'm seeing it tonight. I'll let you know. I know that I'll love it.

Yeah, the 3rd movie has great action sequences but overall the storyline and general flow of the movie is not nearly as good as the first 2 movies IMO.

I saw the movie thursday at midnight and was somewhat dissapointed.

But then I saw it Friday night and that dissapointment turned right around. It was an awesome movie.

The disappointment stemed from reading the reviews and expecting Spider-Man 2 again. I didn't do this when I saw it Friday night and I ended up loving it.

honestly this was not worth the 10 bucks I paid for last week. The extra 8 minutes just didn't seem worth it to me. Compared to the daredevil DC, now that had the extra substance that made the movie better then the Theatrical release.

FYE is currently giving away Spiderman 2.1 when you buy Spider-man 3 the videogame on certain consoles, so if anyone plans on getting th gam might as well get a free DVD eh?
