Spiderman 2 UMD with second batch of pre-orders?

It's not the first batch it's the first million that come with the UMD. So as long as the PSP comes within the first million, you'll get it. Oh BTW, as you guys know, I have an import PSP. But I would like to test to see if the UMDs truly come region locked as we are being told. So, if anyone has an extra spiderman please PM me and I'll buy it from you.

The Sony Corp has announced that it will release four movies in April 19th on a new disc format (Universal Media Disc or UMD format) designed for Sony's PlayStation Portable handheld video game device. The films will be "XXX," "Hellboy," "Resident Evil 2" and "One Upon A Time in Mexico." A price has not been set yet and more releases are planned for the future.

Sony Computer Entertainment of America will release the PSP in North America on March 24, with a bundled copy of the movie "Spider-Man 2."


I don't think the movie part will be that big. No one will want to spend more money buying another form of movie when they already own it. And for preodering the outrasage bundle they should give you a movie.
 
The UMD movies will probably serve better as promotional items. I wouldn't be surprised if they create some of affinity program where members earn points towards UMDs. Otherwise I find it hard to believe they'll be priced low enough to compete with people ripping their DVDs to MPEG-4 files on Memory Stick. Flash prices are continuing to drop and each increment will make owning a big Mem Stick for videos more attractive.

The big difference is that DVD writers are so cheap they're coming in cereal boxes and Happy Meals. For the cost of one DVD+R you can store a dozen movies formatted for PSP and transfer them to Stick as desired.

I should have been more clear... Does anyone know if the first batch covers the first million, or will it go into the second batch. Sorry.
 
Since sony is only shipping 2000,000 PSP's at launch, and they said the first million will have a Spiderman, I think your safe. I would expect Spiderman to be a packin till Christmas.

The way Sony makes things it might be Christmas 2006. :)
