Steven Seagal, whose action movies once were major box-office attractions, believes false allegations by FBI agents ruined his career, the Los Angeles Times reported on Friday. The comments in the Times are the first Seagal has made publicly about an investigation begun some five years ago by the FBI into accusations he intimidated a reporter and had ties to organized crime.

The Times said Seagal is demanding an apology from the FBI. A spokesman for the actor was not immediately available on Friday.

“False FBI accusations fueled thousands of articles saying that I terrorize journalists and associate with the Mafia,” Seagal told the newspaper. “These kinds of inflammatory allegations scare studio heads and independent producers -- and kill careers.”

Seagal, 56, was once a major star of action movies such as 1992’s “Under Siege,” which earned $156 million at worldwide box offices, but now he makes straight-to-DVD releases such as “Flight of Fury” and “Attack Force.”

The FBI investigation stemmed from Seagal’s ties to former private detective Anthony Pellicano, who once was employed by many Hollywood stars, directors and producers, but is now in federal prison awaiting trial on wire-tapping and other charges.

The Pellicano investigation dates to 2002 when a free-lance reporter for the Los Angeles Times found a dead fish, a red rose and a note saying “Stop!” on her car. At the time, the reporter was researching Seagal and a former business partner.

Seagal told the Times that he and Pellicano had not been on speaking terms since the 1990s and the Times’ story said his lawyers told FBI agents that by 2002, Seagal and Pellicano had become rivals in a bitter legal dispute.

The actor said in October 2004, an FBI official told him that federal agents knew he had nothing to do with the Pellicano investigation. Still, Seagal claims they have not publicly exonerated him.
An FBI spokeswoman declined to comment “because of the ongoing nature of the investigation” and referred calls to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles.

A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney noted Seagal has never been charged or accused of being involved in the incident that eventually led to Pellicano’s arrest. The spokesman added that the office does not comment on talks it has with attorneys representing defendants, investigation targets or witnesses.
For Stern fans ...

- I've just read the best script ever created
- Oh yeah, who wrote it?
- I did

Under Siege 1 was the best movie he ever stared in. Man back in the day I thought that guy was such a bad ass, I wanted to slick my hair back just like his hair........ now he's old and fat.
I thought Steven Seagal wasn't getting movie offers because he has doesn't have the acting abilities of a the rock.
Fixed

The Rock seriously overthrew every movie steven seagal would've been in.

Well maybe if Steven Seagal didn't do the same movie 1,000 times in a row then perhaps his career wouldn't be in the crapper.

I swear he's got another "new" release out every other month that looks like the one that came out two months before that and..... well repeat the cycle and you get the idea.

I remember when he was following David Spade all over LA threatening to beat him up because Spade made fun of him on SNL.

Only he would try to say it was the fbi stuff probly the least of his problems...most likely it was due to when he got introuble for beating his wife..or maybe how hes a notorious asshole .
Was it john legwizamo that said segal bitchslaped him on the set of a movie out of nowhere?

In any buisness if you get a reputation that ur horrible to work with your gonna have trouble finding work..not to mention he didnt exactly stay in shape all these years.
Now we get to see him on usa every week sliding across the floor over and over and removing a gun out of someones hand here and there.

Wesley snipes is now going threw the same issues a bad reputation and old age coming fast.

That has nothing to do with why Seagal doesn't have an acting career anymore. Actions flicks are just not as popular as they used to be, it was different back in the 90's when actors like Steven Seagal and Arnold Schwarzenegger ruled.

My dad has always been a huge Seagal fan, and buys up every one of his straight-to-DVD movies. I do agree with Demolition Man tho. Most of his recent flicks have been pretty much the same, and rather uninteresting.

I am still holding out hope for a Steven Seagal vs. Chuck Norris movie. If anyone could save his career, it would be Chuck Norris.

Yeah, my dad is as well strangely enough. I've seen all of Seagal's movies thanks to him, I'm sure in doing so irreversible damage was done to my brain.

Nah, he doesn't need an acting career because of his ability to rock:
