Street fighter 2 on VC issue

Didn't the original SF2 on SNES have that? Some way to cheat to fit the game on an SNES cart? I think that Turbo fixed this.

I remember reading in EGM back in the day it was a big deal that they removed the black bar from the top of the screen on the Genesis SF2:CE.

the Original version had that. Its so the game could run fast enough on the snes. RE4 on the cube is letterboxed for the same reason.

I think the issue was fitting all the backgrounds, animations, sounds, etc. on the max size SNES cart at the time. SF2:Turbo used a larger cartridge and thus doesn't have the same black bar.

Either way it should be the arcade version on the VC.. not cool of capcom.

Maybe if Nintendo had an emulator for arcade games, Capcom could provide.
Don't diss Capcom.

Virtual Console, not Virtual Arcade.
I doubt we'll be seeing arcade games, but I'd love to be wrong.

I'm pretty glad that I didn't cave in and grab this one. I just got a 360 and the version of Street Fighter II on LIVE is sweet.

The original SNES Street Fighter II is WAY better than the X-Box Live version, Live or no.

The Live version is unplayable because of the d-pad, has no way to correct the speed, doesn't "feel" quite right on top of that, etc.

The original SNES game is at least completely playable, if pointless because of newer versions of the game.

Guys, let's not get crazy here. I understand we all have our own opinions but "the original snes sf2 is better than the Live version"?

I'd let that slide maybe if Nintendo released snes Champion Edition or snes Hyper Fighting, but they didn't. This is the original SF2 (respect), but you can't play as the bosses.

Maybe you guys don't like how fast Hyper Fighting is or maybe it is the 360 dpad, but arcade port will always be>>>>>>>snes port.

I'm a huge street fighter fan, but I will wait until they release either snes Super Street Fighter (where you can play as newer characters like Cammy & Fei Long) or at least genesis Hyper Fighting (but they will probably release snes instead, bastards) before I make a SF VC purchase.

Is $8 worth not having to get up and put SF:AC in the PS2? I'll have to admit its pretty damn appealing to have good ol SF just sitting there being a click away. Does Down R Up L Y B still work to make the screen blue?

Leave the port in the past where it belongs……along with it’s poorly sampled music, countless missing frames, blood removal, missing arcade intro, smaller sprites, shrunken playfield, and lacking presentation. Is it playable? Yeah, but why the hell would you even want to? Just another case of Nintendo choosing an old console license of their own rather than forking over a little more cash to get the original arcade game which is sitting on Xbox Live (with online play) right now, all the while hoping casual fans won’t notice the difference. Why does Nintendo refuse to release the arcade originals? Heck, the Genesis version was actually superior to this with several of those listed missing features intact. The only thing this port has going for it is a superior arcade controller versus the Xbox 360’s ultra-stiff D-Pad. I know this is called the “Virtual Console”, and it is becoming home to the largest exclusive library of console classics in history, but what is that to stop them from getting the same quality arcade goodness that the Xbox 360 receives as well? It’s not as though Microsoft has any exclusive claim to those third party arcade hits they’re "licensing". It’s because Nintendo knows they can just renew that old Super Nintendo license for a few thousand less. No thank you. Wait for the real thing, or get it elsewhere.

That pretty much sums up the inferior SNES port for anyone who cares. Although the SNES game is Street Fighter II and the XBOX Live game is Street Fighter II Turbo. I am actually suprised that people complain about the 360's d-pad for Street Fighter II. I just got it and I can pull off all the moves with no problem. Maybe the controller has been updated with a new d-pad?

Hell no! Not the SNES version.
It's a click away from my mouse too.

Never. The 360 d-pad is a joke. The version runs way too fast (I don't dcare if there were arcade versions that could be set that fast-it's goofy, and even the background animation shows it wasn't supposed to run that fast). And besides those two huge issues, it's just "off".

The original SNES release may have been graphically downgraded, but it still looks and plays darn good.

Wolfpup, I obviously won't be able to sway your opinion.

SF2 on live arcade is not "off". It is the arcade version of Hyper Fighting which is supposed to be fast.

Now I realize anyone going from SF2: World Warrior to Hyper Fighting is gonna be thrown for a loop, because the timing in the games are completely different. I'm not gonna criticize what you prefer because that's stupid and I have learned to play and like each version for their differences.

Here's a message for CAGs that really want to save money:

*If you have a ps2*, rather than spend $8 on SF2 for the wii, spend $20 on Capcom Classics Collection Vol.1 where you will get Arcade versions of SF2:World Warrior, Champion Edition & Hyper Fighting. Not to mention arcade ports of other Capcom oldies but goodies like Final Fight, Ghouls 'N' Ghosts, 1943, etc.

The black bar is not present on that version of SF.

With that said, thank you to all that purchased the wii version, it ensures the later better versions will most likely be released for wii vc fans. :applause:

Even if it isn't off (and lots of other people think it is too), and even if you like the crazy randomly overclocked nature of it, it's still not worth playing with that d-pad.

I'm not buying any fighting games until I can play vs across the Nintendo online service(which I'm sure means I will never buy any of these).
