Long video, to summarize:
We are obligated to pay our debts both to "entitlements" such as SSI and Medicaid which current seniors have paid into already and to our creditors. Playing one against the other solves nothing. His subtle and not so subtle digs against the (R) crowd are wonderful.

Sadly, this won't matter. Promised pensions from public and private sectors alike have been dismantled historically since the radical oligarchs have taken hold of the Republican party.

We had to use funds to give bailed out bank CEOs bonuses because they were "contractual obligations," but United Airlines workers - the blue collar folks - had their pensions erased when UA received government money under Bush II.

Contractual obligations and deferred compensation, even if paid into, will only remain if you're wealthy.

Franken makes great points, but as a country, we're dumb as fuck. We will lose this battle.

Wouldn't libertarians be in favor of not raising the debt limit? That way you just pay the creditors and you don't pay things they don't like such as Medicare and SS.

I hate how this country feeds on buzz words. I'm so sick of hearing the word entitlement that I feel like screaming whenever I do. I'm also sick of being called the "entitlement generation". Often times by the very people who gave birth to it too I might add, which is just hilarious.

It's sad that Al Franken will probably never be taken seriously in politics, considering how reasonable he seems to be.
