You are correct that bars are private businesses. However, because they need a liquor liscense from the state to operate the state can require they comply with civil rights laws. Alternatively they will lose their license.

This has been the hook for any number of civil rights advances - hotels that wouldn't allow blacks to stay at them because they only served white customers were deemed to interfere with inter-state commerce and therefore had to open their doors.

Cant smoke in bars in NYC, California, and CT. There are probably more, but I dotn know. I have doen bar promotions for over 2 years, and ladies night didnt have that many more ladies thatn regular night.

Affirmative action benefits you more than anyone else (especially African American men), There is an almost inherent bias towards women in all divorce proceedings, and on top of all of that, women can actually choose if they want to work or not. i think you missed the point of that. For a state ageny to have %95 white workers is not commom. white women fill the affirmative action quota.
 
I don't mean that going through on a case by case basis that for all specific people in all cases that the life of a white woman in America is easier than that of everyone else.
But in general, it is. Women now get most of the benefits a man gets, plus the benefits a women always gets, plus a couple extra to try and "make things even."

Yes, terrible things still happen to some women in America...
but terrible things happen to everyone, and noone is guarenteed an easy life.

That's not to say that women deserve any less respect... and in fact, if they are great mothers that give up material weath to properly raise children, they deserve more respect that just about anyone. It's not easy to give up your own want for the betterment of your children...
but you can't have it both ways, and that's what people want right now. They want 500,000+ homes, luxury automobilies and SUVs, exotic vactions, etc.. on top of raising two "perfect" (in thier minds) children.

Do I feel sorry for the plight of women in American society? Not really.
Do I feel sorry for the plight of women in Muslim societies? Definately.

There's a big difference between having no rights at all and not being to able to have everything you want. Right now, companies and the American society are bending over backwards to trying to make women equal in more things, but still have the benefits that a mother has... almost making them more equal.

If there are women out there that can juggle the responsibilities of a job and a family, they are probably a better person that I, but rebalancing the order of American society to make that possible just isn't going to work.

I'm sure the number of drunk, loser women is about proportionate to the number of drunk, loser men.

But making generalizations, about men or women, is bullshit. I don't think any of us has hard evidence of exactly who affirmitive action benefits. Nor are we omniscient enough to see how each memeber of one gender feels about their counterpart. What we do know is that stuff like generalizations and affirmitive action dick over everyone.

When it comes to women's rights and the eqaul treatment of women, the US historically, hasn't been that great. It took over 20 years after women were given the right to vote in other countries before the US adopted women's suffrage. Even the Soviet Union granted women suffrage before the US did. In the US by the time we had our first Catholic president, women were already acting as head of countries around the world. This is not a comment on the current state of women's rights. This is just a historical perspective.

Well neither, Sühbaataryn Yanjmaa was acting head of state of Mongolia in 1954, but I'm assuming she was elected into her original position. There also were other cases of women as "acting head of state" or "interim president" capacity during the 50s,60s, and 70s. I'm not sure when the first woman was elected president or head of state, though.

Also, I'd like to try to see a women run for president. My point is that they CAN run for president, but they won't win because there's too many egotistical americans lying around revving up their dodge hemi power truck and sitting on their ass all day calling their wife by bitch and having tattoos all over their body, demanding that she make him a sandwich who would never in their right minds would vote for a women but would rather vote for someone like George Bush.

The perception that most men think of women as nothing more than sexual objects probably has little basis in reality. But the idea has been cultivated in mass media and popular culture so much its not hard to see why some women think its true. Of every guy I know, none of them fit this broad generalization of men. We may joke about it alot but I doubt most of us really feel that women are just sexual objects.

The only reason women are sexual objects is because they make themselves out to be sexual objects. Take Jessica Simpson, for example. She can't give you a decent definition of tuna, but yet she has boobs bigger than my head. And she's ok with that because she knows that being dumb and having big boobs gets you far in life. Thanks for taking a notice to my posts. First of all I'd like to say that you are the one who are blind in this situation. Granted, maybe YOU are a saint to women. But there are plenty of women abusers and womanizers out there in bigger numbers then you'd like to think. Or just normally horny and perverted men who think women are nothing more then some sex toy. I'm not even joking. Ever been to a bar around some greasy biker guy? Chances are he's trying to get laid or talking about some girl he'd like to fuck.

I'm sorry. I didn't know I was generalizing my opinions as complete and total facts. I believe them to be true as I have stated but I don't think that I'm certain that I said something like 'This is a well known fact that blah blah blah'. And If i did, I revoke it. These are just my opinions. Seriously though, it IS a fact that there are SOME womanizers out there, no matter how much you're inclined to disagree you have to accept that.
And I think that it is my opinion that women are treated rather unfairly by men themselves. After reading the majority of the thread I was going to post something to deadzone asking how many terrible experiences someone her age could've possibly had, but that last post changed my mind, so I'm just gonna post this instead :grouphug:
