I vote for super punch-out. Me and my friend have this arguement quite often actually over witch is better. I perfer super punch out, but he believes mike tyson's punch out is better due to the fact it actually has mike tyson in it.

Well Super Punchout looks better, and plays great, and is a slight improvemet over the original, but it didnt have the same impact on my life that MTPO did. I may have played SP for 5-10 hours, but trying to beat Mike Tyson consumed weeks of my life! Plus it was innovative and original, so I have to give it to Mikes game.

Tyson by far. I still have the code to Tyson memorized, the stupid Don Flamingo song and the guest appearnce by Mario as the ref.

As previously mentioned in this thread, MTPO consumed lives. SP was a great game that duplicated the fun, but never really left the same imprint.

Super Punch -Out was good, but nothing beats the weeks/months I spent trying to get up to and beat Mike Tyson. MTPO hands down
Don Flamingo
It would appear that you still have some things to learn about the game.

My answer to the OP's question is this: yes. I gave a friend my SNES (he was stationed in Korea with fuck all to do, I had to give him something), and although I managed to find Fight Night Round 2 GC, I traded it almost immediately (mainly b/c I got a decent trade, and I don't care for the Fight Night games). I suppose Super Punch Out gets a nod b/c of how elusive it is to me at the moment. Those fuckin' twins were tough as nails, they were.

They are both super games!

For gameplay I have to give it to Super Punch Out! The controls just feel more responsive and everything feels quicker. Also, the Graphics are beautiful in my opinion. The fun factor is up there as one of the most enjoyable games ever.

However, there is nothing like the feeling you get after kicking Mike Tyson's ass. Saying you beat Super Punch Out! means nothing, but when you say you beat Mike Tyson's Punch Out! it sounds so much more impressive. Plus, more people know about and have played Mike Tyson's Punch Out! so, when you go bragging to your significant other they will be really impressed. The outcome is most certainly worth every moment.

Too close to call. Both are awesome. I probably played more Super Punch Out because of the time trial mode, and the fact that the boss was actually beatable. I must've gone through that game a good dozen times, not including time trials.

I bought Super Punch Out on release day. I load it up and get to the final boss in my first time playing with no continues. I literally did not lose a match. It was ridiculous. The next day I returned the game.

MT - the star system was much better than the meter in Super. I didn't like that Super didn't have rounds, and therefore you win nearly every match by TKO. Also, Super had that jackass with the cane - who the hell brings a cane to a boxing match???

Oh, and most importantly - no inspirational jogging scenes in Super. :shame:

MT all the way.

Could never really get into Super Punchout, but Mike Tyson's Punchout is one of my favorite games of all time.

I give the nod to Super Punch-Out!! Like b3b0p said, the game feels more responsive and faster, and for me it made it more enjoyable. I still love MTPO, though.

I didn't play Super Punch Out until a couple of years ago, but I grew up on Mike Tyson's Punchout and I still play it and love it.

I voted for Super Punch Out. SPO had much more strategy involved in the gameplay, better controls, and of course, the time trial mode which I spent many months perfecting my skills.
Both are great but MTPO gets the edge due to the nostalgia factor.
Exactly.

This is easy. Super Punch-Out!! is a way better game. I beat the crap out of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! back in the day (7th grade) and I can still beat Mike Tyson quite easily today (all you have to do is last the first 1:30 of round 1 and he's toast) but nothing grabbed me quite like the time trials did in Super Punch-Out!! Trying to shave 1/100th of a second off of the time is so addictive... Plus, I think the graphics and characters are better (except for Tyson, of course) and the controls are top-notch...

Super punch-out is a very good game, but MTPO is in the "great" category for me, so I give it the nudge.

Also, my video game arch nemesis is in MTPO. I've never beaten Super Macho Man in that game. Not once. Heck, I even used the password to beat Tyson, but I can't beat the Macho Man. I even tried a few months ago, still no success. It's to the point where I beat the Sandman, and my blood starts to boil because I know he's coming. I'll knock him down twice, and then, here comes the darn super punch that keeps going, and I go down. grrr.

Sorry, started rambling

Too close to call but this much is clear: The Big N needs to get off their butts and make Punch Out Revolution, STAT.

This thread has inspired me to play MTPO again. So the other night I popped it into the old famiclone and fired it up. Soooo much fun! Although Im stuck on that bastard Super Macho Man! And it took me couple of fights to figure out how to beat King Hippo again... lol

I was playing Super punch out last night and I got stuck on the first fight of the world championship, forget his name. But anyways the 1st guy of the final championship and I'm stuck. The sandman was giving me a run for my money as did bald bull.

I wish Nintendo would release a DS game of the old Punch-Out arcade game. The one with the dual screens where you could see thru your wireframe fighter. Id buy it.

As far as MT vs Super, I voted MTPO. More memorable characters and the greatest manager in the history of console gaming.

MTPO has a little more personality, but SPO really perfected the play mechanics. In my opinion, it's one of, if not the greatest, game ever made.

Mike Tyson's Punch Out all the way I remember playing it at my friend’s house when we were kid's Mike Tyson was huge at the time around the time he knocked out Spinks in 90 second we watch the fight on PPV what a let down. We would read Nintendo Power and call the tip line. Finally beating Tyson was such an accomplishment at the time I haven’t played the game all the way through in years but, I have such great memories from the NES era.

I managed to beat that MOFO once when I was a kid and never could do it again. If your 1/100 of a second off your ass is toast. Ironically I haven't gotten past him in super punchout either.
