I'm gearing up for Metal Gear's release and am looking for a good pair of 5.1 Surround Sound headphones in the $100 range. I may be asking for the wrong thing with the "5.1" request. Hookup would be through a 1/8" jack on side of my tv (sony 40v3000) receiving signal directly from ps3 through HDMI.
I've been looking at Sennheiser HD-280 or the HD-555 but neither of them state 5.1.
Sennheiser's website states "Surround reflector improves spatial sound characteristics" on the 555's. All reviews on amazon are all music related. I'm looking for something that will distinguish front and back, not just left/right.
I would prefer "around ear" not "on ear" and since I play while the house is asleep, noise cancelling isn't a primary factor. Wired preferred, wireless will work. Optical audio will work as well.
Does such a product exist? Anyone have any recommendations or experience with surround sound headphones? Am I looking for the right thing?
