Tale of Tales, Belgian developer of artsy-fartsy games and interactive art pieces, has all three of their current paid productions - The Graveyard, The Path, and Fatale - on a "pay what you want" promotion for the Day of the Dead, with a minimum price of $3 USD. This offer is available until November 2nd. DRM-free, for those who care about that sort of thing. Your choice of PC or Mac versions. Enjoy:

A demo for the The Graveyard, which is pretty much identical to the full version, is available here, and a demo of The Path, which actually serves as a prologue and features content not found in the full game (in other words, you should play this even if you buy the game), is available here.

These games would normally cost $22 all-together. This is also being presented as an opportunity for their dedicated fans to donate to/invest in them. On this note, anyone who invests/donates $50 or more will receive a "special surprise." No word on what this might be, but it's probably only of interest to dedicated fans of this group.

There's not a lot to say about The Graveyard. It's a black-and-white digital art piece about death that takes about 5 minutes to take in. Fatale is another non-game, a frankly gorgeous little exploratory production that is based on the tale of Salome. It's sometimes bewildering and esoteric, but rather interesting, and engaging to explore, if you're into this sort of thing. Fatale features character models by Takayoshi Sato, of Silent Hill fame.

The Path is the real standout, and is the most of an actual game (unlike the other two, this one has quite a few hours worth of exploration to do), though it's quite a different thing from your usual horror gameplay, like Silent Hill or Resident Evil. The style of horror here, as well, is also completely unlike the usual horror game. Don't expect to be stalked by hoards of scary monsters, or any cheap jump-out scares, but damn if it's not disturbing. The game doesn't hold your hand, or give you hardly any hints on what to do. You must explore, experience, and figure it out for yourself.

There is more info about all of these on their respective websites. Yeah, they're esoteric and pretentious, and certainly not for everyone, but if it seems like your kind of thing, by all means, highly recommended.

Awesome - thank you. I've been waiting for a $2 steam sale on these "games" since The Graveyard came out. Sales at $5 each just didn't get me motivated.
OP - you might want to mention that the sale runs through November 2.
I did in the post. I don't have any more room in the thread title to mention it. I guess if I trilled it down, I could.
minimum $3...not really a "pay what you want" sale more of a "please pay us more than $3" sale

/just sayin
You say that as though they're being greedy. These things always have a minimum. For this one, they just decided to set the minimum at a point that they won't lose money on, from transaction and bandwidth fees alone.

Hm . . . So what's a fair amount to give them for these? I was intrigued by The Path when I read about it, but not enough to pay the full price for it. Not sure whether I'm all that interested in the other two or not, since they're not really games.

I kind of wonder what the $50 surprise is. I have to think it's the kind of thing where we'd go, "Man, I wish I had done that!"

I'm giving them $6. In my mind, it's $3.50 for The Path, $2 for Fatale, and $.50 for The Graveyard.

Perhaps some sort of early access to their next production? Or maybe your name in the credits in a "special thanks" section? Just my own personal guesses. I have absolutely no idea what they have in store.

I'm sorry - yes, I see that you did. I missed it on my first read through and then again after I'd visited the website.

I bought these even though I already have The Path (which I only bought from Steam a few weeks ago, but really wanted to play it!), but I wanted to try the others, too. Paid $7.

I only played The Path, and the most I'd give for that game is the minimum asking price of $3.
In case you can't tell, I didn't like it much. It's not because I was disappointed that it wasn't your typical "videogamey" experience, I knew what the game was like when I went into it. I just didn't find it very enjoyable . Yeah I guess it's surreal and creepy at times, but those moments are short. Honeslty I'd just recommend saving your money and watching youtubes of it for practically the same experience.
But if you wanna support the game makers and give them money, that's cool too

Since I'm on the fence about it and reviews seem mixed, I just gave them the $3 minimum for now. If I like it enough after I get a chance to play it, I'll throw a little bit more their way.

Yeah, that's the other thing for me, I would really have much rather had these on Steam, where I could re-download them and such easily if I ever need to. I like having that little extra bit of security. Oh well.

The Path is the only thing that interests me in this collection, but only barely due to its length. I would not even consider The Graveyard a game; your goal is to walk on a path, sit on a bench, and die.

Having a $3 minimum still makes this hard for me to purchase. I had not even heard of two of these short, surreal indie games until now, and I can easily forget about them.

You're not alone. The developers don't consider it to be a game, either.

I'd say The Path is certainly worth $3, if it's artsy-horror vibe seems even remotely appealing (again, there is a demo/prologue available). If it doesn't look as though you'd like it, then you probably won't.

That sounds like a good idea. You might like it. Even though I said I didn't like it, after just seeing some of the scenes ( via youtube) again for the first time in over a year, it reminds me that some of the scenes are pretty cool in a surreal cryptic way.
The main problem I had with the game was that in between finding the cool stuff, the game just isn't fun at all and the payoff might just make you say "what the hell was that supposed to mean?". You might spend a lot of time being lost in the forest, and while the music is cool for a little bit, after awhile it just gets old. And slowly walking in the rain sucks.
