I just heard my front screen-door close and a truck drive away, so I know a package must've just arrived. I run upstairs to go and check to see if it's for me. Sure enough, it is. I see that its in a thin bubble-wrap package, so I'm wondering what the hell could it be. It better not be a gba game. I felt around a little bit before opening it up and it felt like the size of two ps2 games. I open the package and woohoo! Its my Digital Devil Saga Deluxe Box Set! Only, not woohoo....the box is bent up all over the fucking place. How fucked up is that? I haven't opened the game itself yet, but I've reshaped it pretty good just from messing around with it. Should I stop being a bitch and keep it, or take it back B&M. OR...do you have to send it back? I hate sending shit back and I refuse to do that, so I'll probably be stuck with it.

RANT done

Take that mofo back! omgwtf!

Honestly, there's no excuse for the shipping company to mistreat that package, but it is ultimately GS's responsibility to make sure it arrives in its promised condition. I know you can return them to EB B&M but I'm not so sure about GS. Anyone know?

Did it smell like smoke? The last few things I ordered from them were saturated with cigarette smoke odor when I opened up the package. They were all PO games.

I'd say send it back, but since that's not an option, I guess you'll have to keep it.
At least you got a box from them. You're lucky.
 what? I'm not sure what to take that as.

The box I'm talking about is the actual game box. It's cardboard because it's the deluxe box set. I'm not talking about a shipping box or your standard PS2 case. And the game is new, so it's not disc only, if thats what you meant. There, I think I covered all bases of what you might've meant.

Having a soft box inside a bubble mailer crushed is not on the shippping company. I assume this box set is in some sort of cardboard box and not in a rigid plastic case.

I'm pretty sure GS doesn't do in store returns, unfortunately.

Wow this thread is getting replies fast. My post was a reply to psiufoxx2's.

I had a small bad experience with Gamestop. One person being the counter misquoted the price for Doom 3 Collectors Edition. I preordered previous and when I got there, I had to fork over $10 more for it.

I think half of all retail employees are stupid though so I dont consider this a "Gamestop" specific issue.

I can't believe they sent that in a bubblemailer. Everything I've got from Gamestop online came in a box big enough to hold 3 games.

Perhaps you could buy another one instore and return the bent one. It would be faster than dealing with GS customer service online.
This is why I fear ordering that game from any place online...
and thats why i will never order another box set online ever again...

i ordered growlanser generations deluxe from them a month ago and everything was fine...because they shipped it in a box....bastards

i just got off of the phone with them....and the lady wanted me to send it back, which defeats the purpose of preordering something....which i tried to explain....the reason i preordered it is because i want to play it asap....she wanted to send me a label, then have me send the game back, then her send another game out...which im sure is common practice, but that would've taken at least a little over a week....i know she was jsut following policy, so its GS's fault....i asked about taking it back and exchanging it in-store and she said that i couldn't...the only thing i could do is go to a b&m store and purchase another one...then send this one back and they'll refund my money....but i told her thats not fair because I then have to temporarily shell out more money...basically, it boiled down to her not being able to help me and me saying that i'll be ordering from EBgames for now on....though i know thats a lie, she doesnt...until she checks my account activity #-o

overall though, she was very nice....the policy just sucks shit IMO...I just opened the game up and the way it's set up is stupid anyway....but a few other things are bent up inside of it

i thought about that....after I opened it :bomb: ...thanks though

Bought this from EB b&m yesterday and the same thing happened to me too. Double check the box when you leave the store.

well...on the bright side...i now finally own suikoden 2...i ordered it off of ebay for a price that im embarrassed to talk about (average going price, but still outrageous)....its mint, though the disc has a very little bit of wear on it....im a lot happier of an overpriced, used, 10 year old game than I am with the brand new, just released, normal priced game

GS doesn't do in-store returns, at least they didn't a few months ago. EB does. One more reason why I prefer EB to GS at times.

well, im just going to stop being a dick and buy a new copy B&M and send this one back...it jus pisses me off that i have to go through this because jackasses don't care how you get their product, just as long as they receive your money

That's alright, wait til your sig gets damaged. :twoguns:

so far, i've ordered some things from ebgames and they all come in a shipping box, even if it's a PO psx game! i've ordered one new game from gamestop and it comes in a bubble mailer (?) and it was sent to my neighbor instead! (good thing he didn't take it), kinda flimsy packaging if ya ask me...

damn, that sucks. how does overstock.com package its stuff? i am slightly worried about my DDS now. i know it wont be coming for another week or two though.

GS stores don't normally do returns for GS website products, though I'm sure that if you explained the situation to a local GS manager, they'd be more than happy to swap it out for you (if there is product available, and assuming your box hasn't been utterly decimated).

Of course, If you've already broken the seal, then you're hosed and it's off to the Post Office for you.

just got back from GS b&m ten minutes ago....im so surprised how tight the box was supposed to be...due to the sent one being dented and smashed and just completely stepped on....the box became really loose and stretched...weird...oh well, problem fixed for now....now i have to wait for the back n forth, then the refund

I was thinking that immediately after I read through your post. It's a normal plastic dvd-case inside, then a lot of really thin paper and lots of air. :whistle2:s
Sounds like a bad call on the production line and a bad call in shipping, sounds like you've got it all figure out now though, so good :)

yeah, it's crap...it has a lot of room inside of it so you can pop part 2 in a few months later when that comes out (i assume)...which is pretty cool, but why didn't they just include the box thing with part 2...that would've made more sense to me

I got dragonball z SSW from them and they just placed it in a bubble wrap envelope and the box is completely shot to hell, why cant they just use a simple little box?

wait, so are you supposed to put Shin megumi in there?...cause that would almost make sense...sort of gimmicky, the box set was pretty hyped up for having nothing special about it if you ask me, heh. =P

They did it this way to promote people or preorder the 2nd one.:D
What I'm surprised about is that they didn't include some sort of half trinket were you couldn't get the whole things without the end game.

No. You will put a DDS2 in there when it comes out. Nocturne and DDS have no relation to each other. How much was it overhyped? $5?!
They did it this way to promote people or preorder the 2nd one.:D
Yup, exactly.

okay, I'll give you that, if i had enjoyed shin megumi I would have payed more attention to DDS, but alas, it wasn't my thing and I had other games to play at the time. I'd still disagree on the 'hype', since a low/reasonably low price is different then hype (the hype made it sound as if it would be hard to find, I'm predicting it'll be hard to get rid of now). I did like that strat guide, are they going to make purchasers of DDS 1 & 2 buy a combo strat guide? heh. it'd be like war and peace and whatnot...

I think it was a bit decieving to put out a "box" with only one game, I agree at least a token or figure or something to take up space and induce collecting would have been smart. If you're not going to fill it, don't make a box. God, look at the DBZ: B3 deluxe set for example, it was originally like, $10 more, and ended up sitting on so many shelves it dropped down to the same price as the reg edition before it started selling. As for promoting sequals, I like the .hack game's route for that~ all the spines lined up in order make an image. smart move imo.

Whenever I order from Gamestop.com I always get sent a standard cardboard box, whether it is a GBA game, a DVD-based game, or a combination of both. Sorry to hear that happened to you TSD.
As for promoting sequals, I like the .hack game's route for that~ all the spines lined up in order make an image. smart move imo.
The problem there was that after finishing the first one in a paultry 20 hours I had no desire to spend $150 for the next three. I do agree that DDS will probably drop in price much quicker than Nocturne did, however I bought mine with giftcards so I don't care.:D

"Irvine, CA, December 17, 2004 – Atlus U.S.A., Inc., a leading publisher of console role playing games, announced today that Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga, the latest game in the popular RPG series, will be packaged in a special deluxe box set when it ships in the spring of 2005. The Deluxe Box Set has a suggested retail price of $54.99 and will include the following:

* Collector’s art box for Digital Devil Saga and Digital Devil Saga 2 (DDS2 coming summer 2005)
* Exclusive Digital Devil Saga controller armor which can be used to personalize your controller.
* Official soundtrack CD featuring 30+ tracks from the game! "
____________________________________________________________

Atlus announced this in December of 2004 and put it on the website. What was decieving about it?

BTW Nocturne never went down in price and I doubt DDS will. I don't know about DBZ I don't play it, as for the .hack games...hmmm..after playing first one I don't care if their spines or fronts match...or they have a rainbow all over, I won't spent a dime on it. When they call them LE , put them in a metal box with $60 sticker on it and you can buy them 2 month later for $20 at 7/11. That's overhyped in my dictionary.

There will be NO strategy guide for DDS.
