that gamestop CAG deal was great!

CAGiversary!
finally, they have a useful CAG exclusive from gamestop! Ever since EB crapped all over it's online business by taxing everybody and having no shipping deals and poor prices on top of it gamestop seemed just the obvious better choice, but they didnt have any deals like the CAG codes that EB had (although i never had the urge to order 2 used games/dvd's off their website to get a free one). I must say though a freeshipping/10% off coupon is a darn good start.

What are you talking about? No shipping deals? Poor prices? EB has amazing sales all the time and most, if not all, prices rival Gamestop.com's.

^^You suppose what? That EB isn't a shady crappy company that tries to screw the customer every chance they get? That EB is customer friendly? That EB doesn't have rape-you-in-the-ass prices on every product they sell? You sir, are in complete denial.

EB online is far superior to GS online. EB constantly has good stuff pouring in and prices are way better especially with % off codes. If Gamestop is such the 'obvious better choice', why isn't there a GS Morning Update thread?

 That was a VERY GameFAQish thing to say yet I couldn't help but laugh for some reason. Maybe I'm tired...but anyway help1, you get a high five

I ordered Worms 3D (Xbox) from Gamestop on 3/11 with free shipping and have yet to receive it. As such, similiar experiences are why I tend to order from EB.

if i was just isolating my analysis to used games that "might" be true, but i am not so that exactly is what i'm talking about.

%off codes? none for new titles i've seen, it's all 2 for one used stuff.

EB shipping does suck and i have never seen a shipping deal except for certain upcoming pre-order releases, and their prices are MSRP retail, if you think they are undercutting their new game prices under gamestops you are deluisonal. Used games are a different story probably but if i'm going to buy a used game i'd have the smarts to go do it in person instead of trusting either site anyhow.

tap that off with the tax you are now pretty garunteed to be levied and no, EB does not ">" GS, especially in prices, not even IF they had a worthy discount coupon code, wich, aside from used stuff, they do not.

eb express savers suc azz. EB usually don't shipped my game right away, most likely, 2-3 day after I placed my order. As a result, I won't get it after 2 freak'n weeks of waiting (14 business day) which tick me off. I will never order game from GS due to the fact it stated that preowned game may not have instruction manaul/original insert case. Which is a "no no" for me. I want mine 100% complete. However,I love GS tracking device for B&M PO GAMES. By using that, I have gotten really rare games and ps1 games. Although the shipping sux for eb, but I don't care as long it come complete I'm :). I will only buy games online thu ebgames/ebay and instore at gamestop.

Since joining CAG back in 2003, I have spent i believe around 600+ at ebgames.com . Since 2003 I have only ordered one item from game stop. Swing Away golf for ps2 at 1.99

GS never really has any deals for me. And the ones that they have, I usually have found the game somewhere else.

EB is usually cheaper in my exp. And for used prices 25-26% of with EC with free shipping is the deal maker...even better before the tax.

Any new item I order from eb, I always tag a used game usually 1.99 or less which lets me use the cag codes on the used game and the free shipping option.

and every 1.99ish game ive ordered, have been ones I actually was happy to buy.

I have only ordered 5 used games at EB, excluding the ones that I add to use the free shipping option. And all but one actually came in M-NM shape complete. (I admit not a universal exp)

honestly I don't have a lot of exp for comparing new release prices.. but this is CAG ;)

Gamestop.com generally sucks because they don't like sending complete games. The best GS deal is 25offBN, which will almost always save you a lot more than these 10% + free shipping deals. The only time to use those it when you want something new, which is really the only time I would shop with them anymore. EBgames.com is far superior. All the current generation games are guaranteed complete, they have a large stock of classic games, and used stuff is always 25% off w/ free shipping. EB also seems to update their site much more often and is always more accurate. GS has no in-stock counter.

again this is for all used games, thats your gamble if you even want to get them online, i generally would only do that in person anyway.

but overall for a new release i have not ever seen EB carry more appeal or even have any good coupons or deals for it, plus the tax and shipping it is always more expensive.

unless EB has said title in stock and GS for some reason does not, but otherwise the costs from their new titles are more, if you want to go tit for tat on how they handle a used title, it's a used title, they will vary in quality and it's a gamble to order online from anyone, but that is no way to soley gauge a place.

All this bickering when we all know Gamefly not only has the best prices but they also ship their games in almost brand new condition.

If you ask me GS has less CAG deals because EB tries to own everyone. Even though GS is the larger presence by far in the bussiness sence (more stores, sells/trades more games then EBs, etc). you still see their marketing all over the now mostly suck techtv, and even a hovering presence over CAG (why is there a morning update?). EB lost their magazine, which imo was lousy anyway, where as game informer is the highest ranked video game magazine and has more subscriptions then playboy (yes, it really does). Gets you access to some pretty cool stuff on the site too. And just so that you don't think i'm being prefferential (which I'll admit I am anyway) I've heard from two industry insiders and my own experiences that EB does not treat it's female employees equally or with respect compared to GS, which has many more women in management positions, and without the glass ceiling. (jerks are going to be everywhere, sure, but it's how a company deals with their hr issues that matters).
okay, that's my two cents. because I don't order used things online anymore either =P

I don't know what you guys are talking about EB SAVER coupon plus CAG10 for 10% off used games and free shipping is perfect for most CAGs. Sure, it's great that Gamestop wants to join in the CAGness.
EB Saver shipping may take possibly 2-3 days for them to ship it out but in most cases it arrives three mailing days later.
I'm happy Gamestop is wanting to offer CAG coupons, but I still prefer ordering from EB using CAG10 and SAVER.

I got Sega GT/JSRF for $2.87 with the Gamestop deal this weekend. That was nice... would have been more with EB.

Most of my money goes into EB because of the 25% PO games and the fact that they ship the PS2/GC/XB games complete. And considering now that the GS discount card is $15 while EB's went down to $5, I don't see GS getting my business anytime soon. Personally, I also think that EB's site is much more accessible and easier to navigate than GS's.

B+M-- I usually go to GS, on-line-- with 25% off on pre-owned and complete games the obvious choice is EB.

TaurasKatt- I agree, GMR magazine was a pretty sorry excuse for a game mag. It always seemed they were trying to be funny and provide features like GI, but couldn't really pull it off. And they also had a few "exclusive reviews" of games that weren't even finished.

you must not know what is being talked about because you arent paying attention, what good is the EB CAG10 code if you DONT want to order a used game? i'll tell you, nada. and not everyone uses the internet to buy uses games because it is indeed a gamble no matter where you buy it, so a coupon for used game deals only isnt exactly what makes or breaks this thing, and EB doesnt offer much beyond that realm.

Indeed, GMR was much like limp wet Filter scripts on G4. And most of their 'exclusive reviews' consisted of "this game that's not out yet it hawt, 9.5!!11!! Here's a pic of me and the developer's foot scrubber! you suck!"...but it would really be something lame. like Driv3r.

What great deals does GameStop offer online that are so much better than EB? I've taken advantage of who knows how many deals from EB, but for GameStop, I can count them on one hand:

1-Free overnight shipping on Xenosaga 2 pre-order
2-$20 voucher on Phantom Dust pre-order

That's it. I'm not saying that's all they've had, but that's all I've bothered with (and the Xenosaga 2 thing was only because EB's expired the day before I decided to pre-order). EB has MANY unadvertised specials and rebates/vouchers that you often won't see unless you go look at a specific item. I've come across plenty of free overnight/2 day/3 day shipping codes for specific games while looking through EB's website.

As for why EB has a morning update thread...it's because EB updates its used game inventory every weekday morning. Even if they only have one copy of a game in stock, they list it. Great way to catch a somewhat rare title for a cheap price.

CAG does not favor EB because it sold out or some other fanboyish bullshit reason. CAG favors EB because EB brings the deals.
