The 2010 Earthquake season is now in full swing!

The media is simply reporting more on earthquakes, even the smaller ones which they would normally ignore. It makes it seem like there's a "dramatic rise" even though there's about the same as usual.

Or we could just blame them all on global warming.

Here's a USGS map of the last week of earthquakes:

And here's the last 8-30 days:

Finally, an article on the USGS about earthquake probability.

There's a 100 percent chance of an earthquake today.

So far there hasn't been an unusual number of earthquakes. There was a dude on democracy now talking about it after the Argentina earthquake - it's just that over time with higher population concentrations in places where quakes can occur you're going to have earthquakes that effect more people.

It's getting pretty tiresome. Every time there's a new one my brother asks if I'm convinced that it's "the Last Days" yet.

two more earthquakes in Mexicali and Indonesia, I think there will be another soon too come in Cali or somewhere again in south or central america

Tell him, no, but you do know that Poseidon is pissed off and ask him if he'd help you sacrifice a bull to appease him. ;)

I was a part of the 89 quake here in the "Bay Area"... I'm so paranoid I could probably come off as a skitso if people looked into my head how often I worry about it... I know were next, or maybe the Super Volcano in Yellow stone will blow like my friend fears. As for 2012 (never saw it), that's fucking lame. The Day After Tomorrow is more believable...

For real? I know they are just movies, but honestly 2012 has more backing it up than melting ice causing tornadoes in LA or mega ice hurricanes.

Don't worry, die happy.

California is way over due for the big one. That's all we need right now, a mega quake in California...such event would wreck the economy for sure.
It's gonna happen, there is no way around it.

^Yep... it's happening all around me. We are next, guaranteed.

Things will happen, but all of a sudden the world just splits apart? Come on... Then they make it like a stupid Tom Cruise movie :cough:waroftheworlds:cough: where the natural disaster is after the actor and they live in the end... ?
6.0 earthquakes are sooooooo common. we just happened to have several near civilization in a short period of time.
You're telling this to someone who thinks the movie 2012 has things "backing it up."

Not sure about wrecking the economy, damage it definitely, but certainly not completely wreck it. Were not overdue for a big one, were actually right on time for one .
