That's not saying much, and it's not being completely honest either. But what else would you expect from Nintendo Power magazine.
Pokemon Colleseum is an empty shell of a game. The fact that there is no voice over dialogue is simply inexcusable in todays age of gigabyte storage on tiny disks. Had there been voice overs, I may not be as harsh a critic of this game, but a game devoid of sound save the annoying beeping everytime a line of text is displayed drains on my soul. I expect this from a GBA game for $30 and limited memory, not for a $50 blockbuster Nintendo release. Simply put, voices would have given Colleseum some personality and drawn me into thinking I was actually participating in a Pokemon world.
From the moment I started playing this game I couldnt help but think I was playing Pokemon Stadium on the N64. The graphics are comparable. I did the 4 game trade in at EB games for this title and I'd be pissed if I had shelled out $50 for this garbage. They've had years to improve the genre, and have done nothing to enhance the Pokemon experiance. At least with Super Smash Bros, they improved the graphics, sound, speed, gameplay, presentation, interface, options, and fun factor considerably. Mario Cart too warrants a nod for it's update to the Cube. Pokemon, however, is a badstard sibling, cloned from the N64 DNA recombinated and re-shrinkwrapped for the new console simply to steal your hard earned cash.
