True. Halo, KotoR, Riddick, and Fable are also available on PC.

Very nice list. My boyfriend has played most of those. The one game on the list that I actually played myself would be Fable.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer...
Yes! The original Buffy is a great game whether you like the show or not. Put it on the list.

There are tons of Xbox games worth the purchase IMO. Especially considering you can get plenty of good games for $10 or less. I agree with most everything on your list (though some of the games aren't my cup of tea).

A few I'd add. The ones with + are ones I feel are cream of the crop, the rest are just worth a purchase.

+ Beyond Good and Evil
Voodoo Vince
Bond: Everything or Nothing
Armed and Dangerous
Psychonauts (though I'm waiting for a price drop myself)
XIII
+ SSX 3
+ Red Dead Revolver
Buffy (sequel is not near as good)
+ NBA Street 2/3
+ Elder Scroll III: Morrowind
+ Grabbed by the Ghoulies
Midnight Club 3
Mercenaries
Deus Ex
Hitman 2
+ Metal Arms
Freedom Fighters
+ The Suffering
+ Phantom Dust
Genma Onimusha
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe
Brute Force
Red Faction II
I could add quite a few more

What the hell, thought of a couple more after looking through the list of games I own or have owned.
+ Fuzion Frenzy
Breakdown (probably should be a + just for it's uniqueness)
Finding Nemo
Galleon
Gladius
+ I-Ninja
+ Jet Set Radio Future
Psi Ops (great control scheme for the many powers)
Second Sight

Didn't put a + next to anything I haven't actually completed/played extensively (so no + for Mercenaries or Midnight Club 3 for example)

I've bought every game on this list (besides a few of the newer ones) for less than $10 - except Morrowind and just one or two others. These games are easily worth a sub $10 price point. So I'd have to disagree with the rent then buy disclaimer for much of your honorable mentoin list. You can buy them for the cost of a rental + a few dollars in many cases. (And that's not taking into account money you can recoup through selling or trading them off when you finish.)

Wubb: I have updated my list (Sort of)

Ok first off to address your list:

Beyond Good and Evil - a great game that has everything going for it BUT no voice acting in conversations when there is voice acting for pretty much the entire game. That just breaks the cycle. A great game but not a 9+ its an above average game 8+ and is added to my honorable metion list.
Voodoo Vince - people stop listing this game, its below average, dont try and justify a bought game, sell it and wait for a descent platformer for Xbox.
Bond: Everything or Nothing - agian an above average game that had everything going for it and then you get into the vehicles. Do I really have to talk about the vehicle levels? Its an honorable mention.
Armed and Dangerous - this game is a fun shooter but a rental would suffice.
Psychonauts (though I'm waiting for a price drop myself) - BUY this one
XIII - this is a BELOW AVERAGE SHOOTER with new graphics that suckered a lot of gamers HAHAHA RENT THIS one.
SSX 3 - Better on PS2 ( YES THATS SAD)
Red Dead Revolver - I have not played this game yet but gamefly is sending it soon and ill let you all know what i think.
Buffy (sequel is not near as good) - i cant deny that this was a pretty good game with a sequel that did nothing new. Honorable Mention.
NBA Street 2/3
Elder Scroll III: Morrowind - BUY IT
Grabbed by the Ghoulies - BLAH EHHH i need a game thats a little more involving im no longer 10 years old.
Midnight Club 3 - i did not care for the first 2, i am going to check it out but they have been san fransisco rush rip offs without the rush.
Mercenaries - Honorable Mention
Deus Ex - Honorable Mention
Hitman 2 - RENTAL
Metal Arms - Honorable Mention
Freedom Fighters - Honorable Mention
The Suffering - I have not yet played this but again i will check it out
Phantom Dust - UMMM NO
Genma Onimusha - Let this franchise stay on PS2
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe - GAMECUBE
Brute Force - Honorable Mention
Red Faction II - Oh come on, this FPS sold only because it was the only FPS at the time. If you could play this game after HALO, Riddick, ... if you could play this game after Bond for N64 then you will just play any FPS.

mtxbass1 - Are you serious? Metal Slug 3? maybe if a Metal Slug Compilation came out then yes i would buy it but for just metal slug 3, NEVER!

SteveMcQ - DEATHROW.... WHAT GARBAGE, IGN gave that a 9.+ and what happen you saw the review, bought it , made yourself like it and now think its great. ITS GARBAGE. oh man that game is a can of worms but enjoy your purchase.

CoffeeEdge - Outrun 2, umm you ever hear of burnout 3, project gotham,... you know games that are good. Outrun 2 was a great game ... how many years ago?

klwillis45 - LINKS.. over EA's Tiger Woods/ if you think so, Otogi... WHY? NINJA GAIDEN, NINJA GAIDEN's first level is better then Otogi 1 and 2 put together.

So Red Dead Revolver is a favorite pick, i cant wait to get it and see how good it is.

Also, if there are any other great xbox games out there let me know.

Very nice reply. (I look forward to seeing your comments to my additions (particularly Finding Nemo  )

Can't get worked up about anything you said as they are after all your opinions, but I'll chime in on a few. (Hopefully this will be readable...)

Beyond Good and Evil - We'll just have to disagree on that one.
Voodoo Vince, Bond: Everything or Nothing, Armed and Dangerous - semi-agree with your comments. These fall into the easily worth a purchase at their going value category. Though I must disagree re: Bond's vehicle levels. They were some of the best vehicle based change-em-up missions in a game of that type I've ever seen.
XIII - Really enjoyed this one myself.
Grabbed by the Ghoulies - Again I personally really had fun with this. I try not to look over games because they seem kiddified.
Phantom Dust - Ah, this must fall into the 'not your cup of tea' category. For me that would include the Rainbow Six games from you list. [REMOVED - Got confused between Colin Mcrae and Rallisport games I think]
Red Faction II - This one is still my go to game for multiplayer FPS. I don't have Live and this is the best FPS I own that supports bots. Four player deathmatch sucks without bots IMO. Without that I would agree it is barely passable.

I'll just give you my thought process on when a game is worth a purchase. Right now I could have Psychonauts for $50 + a $10 voucher from ebgames (I think that's the best deal I've seen so far.) So call it $40. For that same amount of money I've bought about 5 games on the above list. To me that is a no-brainer decision. Plus I'll have Psychonauts for less than $20 (probably less than $10) within a year or so if it tracks like most other games.

I just recently started to play Ghost Recon 2 with a friend of mine on live and I am really enjoying it. Maybe toss this on the list or at least try it out. Mission mode is really fun on live.

I also love House of the Dead 3 and Crazy Taxi 3 . . . only on Xbox.

chebdog: Just who the hell are you anyway? Do you review games for a living? Perhaps you review for Gamepro if that's the case. You think that just because YOU don't like a game that it shouldn't be placed on your high and mighty list? Deathrow, Metal Slug 3, BG&E, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Outrun 2 and Links are all great games that should be at the top of anyones list (and most are). What is even the point of posting your list, then asking for opinions and additions if you are just going to bash anyone who finds a game enjoyable, yet you "don't like it". I think you need to change this thread title to "Chebdogs List of Best Xbox Games". Your opinion on what is best for the Xbox hardly warrants anything otherwise.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory might very well be the funnest game I have played since Halo. The single player is long nad fun nad the co-op mode is great. Plus, new co-op maps coming that will keep the game going....

Red faction is one of the best FPS game i ever played especially part 2. Me and my friedns would have fun playing against the bots(something halo doesnt have). It has a better single player then halo hands down.

Chebdog, you started out with a really solid list. Then, you must have read your own list several times and thought it was the roxxors. Then you got cocky, and turned into a large-font-using douche. Seriously dude, chill out or stfu. You and your "precious" are not the be-all /end-all.

ps: I never said take the Otogis or Links over anything. They are ALSO listworthy (as are other people's additions like GR2) IMHO.

These lists are all really accurate, but I have to disagree with one title: Brothers in Arms. It got rave reviews, but when I rented it, I had no fun whatsoever. My disclaimer is that I prefer more arcade-ish shooters like MoH.

My biggest pain was was the gameplay. I loved the addition of having to look through the gunsights, but I wouldn't hit anything I shot at. And before you say I must suck at aiming, I don't. I rack up excess of 30 sniper kills per round on BF: Desert Combat. The guns were just innacurate, and a pain to use. Also, it revolved around having your buddies supress the enemy, and you moving up on them. that got really old after a while, and didn't result in as many "holy shit" kills.

mtxbass1 - who did i bash? i'm sorry you like games that suck... and that you find them enjoyable. but i do like the title you came up with.:D

klwillis45 - i wont use your name in big font, that would just be crazy. but let me explain something, the list of games i have posted is seriously a list of the best xbox has to offer or am i wrong? are you saying that if you were to buy a game tomorrow and did not own what was on the list, that you would go and buy deathrow, metal slug 3, or even otogi, like mtxbass1 would do or would you want your moneys worth? Ok so you find Metal Slug 3 for $5 (thats what its worth - what does it have 6 levels, and that last level is all 6 levels in a row?) WOW or would you buy Panzer Dragoon Orta for what max $15?

We as gamers want a choice in what game we want to buy, and we do have that choice, but choosing a great game out of 100's of crappy ones that look and play the same is hard to do. especially now that Gaming is bigger then hollywood we are gonna be flooded with crappy games. Rehashes with graphical touchups and so forth. so what if game prices are dropping from $50 to $10 within 6 months. That right there should make you stop and think. So as a gamer you would rather buy 5 semi good games for $10 a pop rather then a Outstanding game for $50?

Oh and am i a reviewer for gamepro?... that hurts that really really hurts. One day in life when you are at your lowest mtxbass1 (playing deathrow i guess), you will remember why, you hit me with the lowest of low blows. gamepro reviewer:drool:

Tiphireth - Friends of mine had the same problem with the game but dug the team based command system. Team based FPS is where the FPS genre is heading and this game did it right. This game is not for everyone but you cannot deny that if you could command your team in halo like in this game it would make halo an entirely new Monster of a game. Next Gen Team Based Games Call of Duty style.... that would be like a FPS Team Based RTS.

rofl. Kid, you need to go back to gamefaqs. Just because a game isn't on your "precious list" doesn't mean that it's not one of the best games that the Xbox has to offer. Who are you to say what is best or not? Immediately after people gave responses to your thread, you become a cocky little shit.

It's funny how just because you don't like a game, you instantly think it's bad. Lets talk Otogi. At the time of it's release it was one of the most innovative games out there. The control was good, the graphics were beautiful and the game overall was fun.

I think your problem is that you assume that just because a game is not adored by the masses (read: Deathrow, Metal Slug 3, Otogi) that these are somehow bad games. Like I said before, your list is meaningless. I don't think the average joe is going to log on here, read your precious list, and run out to buy games based on the list. All you are doing is stating your jackassed opinion even when you ask other people for games to be put on the list.

The rest of your comments are laughable. Take yourself back to gamefaqs and have a nice day.

Its not a complete list as it does not have deathrow on it. If it were a list of your favorite xbox games then that's a different story. But if you're list was to be at all comprehensive then you need to have games that other people enjoy even if you don't and Deathrow is one of those games. In all honesty, If I were to go buy an xbox right now, Deathrow would be one of my 1st five purchases.

Yes it has. And I guess what chebdog says is the best of the best really is. None of our opinions matter. Good job. Tell me more please. What other games should I buy Oh High and Might One? Enlighten us peon gamers who have suffered through playing garbage while your greatness revels in gaming goodness that are your choices.

mtxbass1 - you are all wrong about what im saying. metal slug 3 is a quarter muncher, the console release is for fans, and fans will pick it up, i have played all the metal slugs in the arcade and love them. but come on, they can easily fit all the metal slugs on one dvd and give fans what they really want. you might be satifsfied with the scraps they throw you here and there but im not, i have patience and i could wait till a compilation is released. so you spend your money on what you want. Deathrow is ORIGINAL... and thats about it, they added some curse words and you love it. Otogi, is beautiful so beautiful in fact that the action on screen is most of the time obscured by the quickness and beauty. Otogi 2 is what Otogi should have been but its too little too late. and as for games being adored by the masses i could care less. ICO is one of my all time favorite games and it was overlooked completely, i hope shadow of the collossus does not dissapoint. Great games of course will be adored by the masses, other will be looked over like beyond good and evil which if you read my post would be a must have game if it had a little more development time. I am posting GREAT games that almost everyone would like and that because they are great, how many people would play deathrow and love it, i would bet 1 out of 20, its not a great game.

Im so glad you understand, i suggest you go and play deathrow, it is of course an amazing game, and i mean that with all my gamer greatness.

DCFOX please please tell me why this game is so great, a top 5 purchase, i must know why!

Since you're so outspoken against it, why don't you tell us why you don't like it. Besides our opinions don't matter so there's really no point in having our say.

Hey i think someone is getting the picture, not really a full compilation but its a start. Metal Slug 4 + 5 are comming out for PS2 and XBOX. hopefully soon all 5 can be put on one DVD. but thats just crazy talk!

So if you bash metal slug so much, then why not go ahead and bash any other games that are marketed the same way while you are at it? You think that just because a compilation doesn't include all the games of a series, that it is somehow bad? You must be new to the world of videogames. Game companies have been doing this for years. Ever heard of capcom? How about konami? Amazing how countless street fighters can be released and there is no grand compilation. (SF Anniversary is hardly a compilation). The same can be said with any of the King of Fighters games, or basically any game that is a part of a series. Mega man anyone? Metal Gear? If you have a problem with the releasing of metal slug 3 on a single disc (which you do) then why not complain about every other instance of something like that occuring? Why not complain that the megaman comipliation isn't complete? Why not complain that the SF: Anniversary collection is missing a few versions? SNK does this for all their games, so why not say something about the companies that are doing this instead of the games themselves?

why would you say XIII is worth a rental if it costs about as much to rent as it does to own? i thought the game was great, and not because Fox Mulder was in it:cool:

OP, you should retitle this "chebdog's best xbox games" or "Best xbox games by me not you" or "These are the best xbox games because i said so, you damn losers, don't you understand that this list should be in every magazine and treasured for years. It is perfect and so am I, whahahaha."

Capcom and Konami could pull off there game rehashes because they are full games. Street Fighter (any version) is a full game with hours of gameplay. And yes they keep re-releasing games because Gamers go out and buy them. if gamers didnt buy the same games over and over, capcom would have to look at the sales numbers and say, ok i think we need a new game, but nope they are like lets release this game agian because gamers will buy it. Why do you think metal slug 4 + 5 are comming out together? you think its because the company wanted to do you a favor, no its because metal slug 3 sold, but not enough, so now with two games more people will buy it.

SF aniversary is an awsome package.
Mega Man aniversary is an awsome package.

They both might be missing something, but its still a lot of content.
Metal Slug is a RENTAL, and if a fan a purchase, but to say that it should be on a must own list is rediculouse. I love Metal Slug but i spent enough money on it in the arcades, and for me to purchase it makes no sense.
why would you say XIII is worth a rental if it costs about as much to rent as it does to own? i thought the game was great, and not because Fox Mulder was in it:cool:
His voice over work really does suck doesn't it?

Only game I've rented this entire gen is Ninja Gaiden (when it was just out) and that's because I had a rent 3 movies for $3 coupoon from Hollywood Video and they let me get 2 movies and a game with it. I spend about $8 per game on average. Why pay $5+tax to rent?

This thread motivated me to update my own spreadsheet. I divided stuff into three tiers. At one point I was actually trying to keep a ranking of every Xbox game I played/owned from #1 to #100. But I lost track of that after like 15 games.
OP, you should retitle this "chebdog's best xbox games" or "Best xbox games by me not you" or "These are the best xbox games because i said so, you damn losers, don't you understand that this list should be in every magazine and treasured for years. Agreed. This thread and the OP's responses are amusing.

Hey, great news, i just read that a sequal to deathrow is comming out. but this time it has real life convicts with background info and all, PLUS on xbox live you will actually play against the inmates, microsoft is really bringing everyone together over live. the gameplay and graphics will be exactly the same because they rule and no changes are needed but now to make the game more interactive, during gameplay everytime you score or miss a goal you get slapped by a big rubber hand that attaches onto your headset. talk about original. cant wait for this one.

OH yeah there is an additional option for a cavity search special play, that can be acted out with your co-op partner. ENJOY!

Dude, seriously.....you're a TOOL!!

PS: Thanks for changing the thread title. It now makes your "toolishness" blatantly obvious.

Wow that is so weird because TOOL is my favorite band and i think that the special cavity search play in deathrow 2 is called stinkfist. gotta love it.
..........but is there a "Prison Sex" special move??
come on now, if they added that special move, people would be fighting one another to get a copy of this game. its amazing already, adding that move would cause choas throughout the world. deathrow 2 would then be the single most original and significant game ever to hit a console with online inmate play. mxbass1 can only dream of this concept. and i hear the game will have a starting price point of a carton of ciggaretes. that is a deal if i ever saw one.
