Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Sadly, Blockbuster has cut down it's maximum trade-in value from $33-$35 to $25 or so and dropped all other values along with it. So welcome to the new world of Blockbuster featuring Gamestop trade-in prices (but without the Edge card and frequent trade-in deals to make it more appealing). Continue on if you feel like there is any need...

ALERT: More POG games (disc-only used games sold for $9.99) sighted at stores week of Nov 9th
Many CAGs have reported finding new shipments of POG games (prepacked previously owned games) showing up on Nov 10th-12th. This is YMMV as many stores will not get them. But if they do, they are usually in clear cases, disc-only, and are priced at $9.99. Some notables include Call of Duty World at War, CoD Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Halo Wars, etc. It appears to be all 360 games this time. These are disc-only refurbs but are usually in excellent shape. Note that these all have the same barcode that rings up $9.99 - if you find the same games with regular cover art and specific bar codes for that used game, then they are not part of this POG stock and will be regular prices (generally way over $9.99 for the newer titles).

ALERT: B1G1 NOW OVER (but possibly returning in late November)
The latest Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on games $14.99 has ended. The following list of $14.99 and under used games will be maintained for the next sale though. It seems highly likely from various reports that a B1G1 sale will be returning some time in late November. Some are even a decent buy without the B1G1 sale:

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas 2007 and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Dec 2008) most Blockbuster stores are selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, Wii's, and DS's. They do not sell PSP's. However, they have also started selling other electronics including Blu-ray players, portable DVD players, and digital picture frames. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, most regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured Preorders
Most Blockbuster stores (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are featuring several games for preorder. $5 is required for a deposit. There are a few others in addition to what is listed below:

Multiplatform
Beatles Rock Band
Madden 10

:360:

:ps3:

:wii:

:ds:

They usually get these featured games in on release day like any other game retailer (though note - as of late they have been very bad about this and have gotten many games several days late!). Note that you can preorder just about any other game as the system will allow them to preorder anything they have listed (yes, even at regular stores). I have preordered Mario Super Sluggers and Dragon Quest IV myself even though they are not "featured" as preorders. However, if it is not a featured preorder they may or may not get it in, and it may arrive as late as Friday of the release week (postscript - Mario Super Sluggers did indeed arrive on Friday when every other store had it Tues. or Weds. and Dragon Quest IV never arrived).

Of course you can cancel a preorder at any time and get your deposit back or switch it to another game, even after the game comes out. So don't worry about preordering something they might not get - you can always switch it to something else. However, since I've always used credit for purchasing things at Blockbuster I'm not sure how they would handle a cancellation of a cash deposit. They may simply issue a credit to your account so beware of that if placing a cash deposit on a preorder.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values
Trade-in price quotes will now be maintained by CAG Friend of Sonic in the THIRD post of this thread. The second post will continue to highlight specific games used to transfer credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop and vice versa.

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

More details please? You were banned for trading once and this is a district thing? As in, it is policy in this district to ban all people who trade once? WTF?

Or did you trade a bunch at other stores but found out you were banned where you only traded once? That will happen if the DM calls around and tells each store about you and institutes a trade ban. Just curious as to what brings down the ban hammer these days as it has been a while since any CAGs have been banned - mostly due to the fact that there is very little to trade these days.

I'm guessing you traded in 25 Craniums to the same store, yes? What else could you be doing these days?

DAMN. I'm glad I didn't buy up all of the copies of Rock Revolution that the one local BB had marked 80% off price marked on clearance the other day, which made them $4 each since their TIV @ BBV is $4 and that's wayyyy outdated.

Hmmm, that's odd. Was Uncharted one of the new titles they didn't send back (Like Mario Super Sluggers)?
New or used?
Used (would've made a new thread if it was new. Uncharted is NEVER on sale) :)

Thanks, saw it marked $29.99 USED at a local BBV today and I believe $19.99 was the NEW price during the big BBV clearance.

It was probably $19.99 at the register.

My copy was marked $24.99 but rang up $19.99.

I may go back and pick up a copy of Condemned 2.

Back when Rock Revolution went 10 bucks at Bestbuy, I bought a mess load and traded them in everywhere. I say I traded in about 18 total at about 5 different stores. I stopped trading them in when the value went down to $3.

Anyway, nothing for the past, what 3-4 weeks. Singstar PS3 went $10 @ TRU and I traded in 3 total. I believe I told you guys that I thought they could look up my history and was told no.

Anyway, I went to a BBV today that was the last stop during the Rock Revo run and they told me I was banned, and that it was a district thing (maybe global)?

So thats basically it. I still have 3 more Singstars to trade in, but now I have to be slick and get someone to trade them in.

If it's a district only ban, you may be able to trade in at another district-- I was able to. Just check for the big sign that says the name of the cock who's running the district-- if it's a different name, it should be a different district.

Worst case scenario, the new district will pull up your account, end their friendly interactions with you (You know, how really good retail people smile and converse with you) and start making that bitter beer face. You know, the one where they not only think, but act as though you're a huge thief. Akin to you coming into the store with a personalized shirt that says, "My name is Estebon and I steal from your store ." They will frown at you and with gritted teeth, almost as though they are about to lose their cool and jump across the counter to choke you, explain to you that you are banned from trading. You will feel ashamed, embarassed, angry, sad, and disheartened, among the other cavaclade of feelings you may feel. You'll walk out of the store morally, emotionally, and physically defeated, questioning your worth as a customer and a person-- you may even feel depressed or even have fleeting suicidal feelings.

But, that's just the worst case scenario. Best case scenario you can, uh, trade in your games.
Tonight's TIVs:

:ps3: Singstar Vol1 Bundle - $36
:wii: Cranium Kabooki - $10
Now that's just insane! They finally catch on to Cranium Kabooki and lower it from $16... but they still keep it ever so slightly above the used sale price (by one penny). Oh, Blockbuster...

And what's with the $36 on Singstar Vol. 1 when they dropped every other $36 value down to $25 or so? I wonder if there are others we just don't know about?

I just called my local bbv for Cranium and they still give $16. Hope, I think your bbv is mistaken and if you. Only got 46 in your value card, you should have $6 in your store credit.

I was that guy who hired my friend who was a stripper to trade in games...she still asks me from time to time if I need her to do it, but I've been flipping and making money doing something else. I did just grab a bunch of good GC games off Craigslist for $30, so I'm gonna go trade them to GS and get around $75.

I thought the BB and GS flipping game was over since BB dropped their values...are there still deals out there to be found?
I thought the BB and GS flipping game was over since BB dropped their values...are there still deals out there to be found?
I'm surprised that more people haven't talked about the $36 TIV at BBV for singstar Vol 1 when you could get two for $15 at TRU last week or so ago, It was YMMV, but possible to do

Hey stranger!:bow: you crazy flip master...

Because it is extremely YMMV. Hell, I have 2 of those bundles here and didn't even think of trying a BBV trade-in with them. It was tough back before they sent out the memo saying not to take games with accessories for trade. Because if you bring in the game + mics without the packaging they won't have anything to scan and will likely turn you down because of that. If you bring in the whole package then you have junior detective syndrome to worry about...

Anyway, haven't been in a BBV in several days now. I did want to get some more credit to pick up the Beatles posters for my son's room (already have a few from BBV in there). They dropped to $19.99 some time back (from $29.99). I can't see paying real money for those but if I can even just get a small flip going I'll get them. I did trade that Tenchu Shadow Assassin for Wii from GS ($19.99 but bought as part of a B2G1) for $15 so I'm most of the way to getting one of the posters. $36 from a Singstar bundle would be nice but I figure too much risk (ie, wasted time since I'd have to go 10+ miles away to trade at a store I haven't already).

So, do you need to have a Blockbuster card to trade in games? Thinking about trading in Singstar Vol.1 and some Cranium Kabooki if they take Vol.1 and Kabooki is still riding high though less than $2 for it makes $10 tantalizing regardless.

So this might sound "fraudy" but I'm not sure if Singstar includes the mics or game only when trading in. I always hear a back and forth between BB's who don't take the mics and those who do.
I have not seen this so I thought I might post it in case it helps anyone who has a gamecrazy near by. The have releases an iphone app that give trade in values.

Interesting. Maybe I'm using it wrong, but it only seems to give TIVs for the few select games that they choose to show you (mostly new releases and a few select "hot" titles for each system). I can't seem to search on anything like I'd want to to troll for good values ;). I don't even see a place to type for searching actually.

Yes, you need a card to trade. Where are you getting Kabooki for less than $2?

Oh, there... I couldn't find any there when they were $9.97 or $4.97. There sure as hell aren't any there now! My last one was from Gamestop, actually, which is still a decent place if there's a weekly coupon for Wii games or a B2G1. Though they aren't too common there either. Before that I did manage to get a few from Kmart for $5.

While I found a handful of things the very day of the last drop, Sears is usually a bust for me.
I also picked up Uncharted used for $19.99. Looked nearly everywhere for it around here.
I saw used uncharted but the tag said $30, but if i ring it up it should come out to $20???

I have some trade values, for those wondering if Blockbuster STILL sucks for trading games now and lemme just say....they are WORSE than Gamestop now.

All for PS3:ps3:

Condemned 2-$4
Folklore-$6 (.25 less than Gamestop)
Rise Of The Argonauts-$17
Stranglehold-$4
Stuntman: Ignition-$2.50
Timeshift--$.50..... FIFTY fuckin' cents.....you read that right....FIFTY Abraham Lincolns

For those wondering, here are the values at Gamestop(without any promos or Edge):

Condemned 2-$2.50
Folklore-$6.25
Rise Of The Argonauts-$9.50
Stranglehold-$2.50
Stuntman: Ignition-$1.75
Timeshift-$2.50

While there I also had them look up a couple other things and here's the values for the other things I had them look up there:

DDR Universe 3:360:(game only)-$7.25
Guitar Hero Aerosmith:ps3:(game)-$3
(guitar)-$6
SixAxis controller:ps3:- $19.75

Oh and for shits and giggles I went to Hollywood with these games too, here's what I found there for their values:

Condemned 2-$4
Folklore-$6
Rise Of The Argonauts-$13.50
Stranglehold-$2
Stuntman: Ignition-$2.90
Timeshift-$4

Just a heads up in the event any of you are like me and have shitloads of the Sears and Kmart clearance games and are wondering wtfh they get in TIV.

I noticed Blockbuster had signs up on Madden 10. Pre-Order and pay in full (I think you had to pay in full...I could be wrong) and get a FREE $5 Gift Card. Not a bad deal if you plan on getting Madden and have credit to burn.

Ethical question here, is it wrong to print out the Singstar Bundle UPC and slap it on the game only? I know a lot of people traded in EoJ without the camera, mat and cards so it sounds like the same thing to me.

anyone BBV drop the price on MGS4 new or used. below $29.99 atleast. mine is still at those prices. was hoping that the regular MGS4 dropped, but its only at $29.99 like the GH.

That would be fraud....goes beyond ethics.

I seriously doubt you could get away with it. It does state in the system that it is a bundle. You might get lucky if you found someone really, really, really, really stupid. Still, its wrong.

Tell us how that works out. Once they find out you defrauded them your trade account will be perma banned at a minimum, and since they have all your personal information, you may get a knock on your door from law enforcement. This all depends on how BBV wants to handle your account.

I thought I wouldn't hear any preaching until Sunday lol. Technically, the Singstars without a barcode are the ones from the bundle, you are only putting the barcode on there that was on the blister pack. If you do that and put some mics with it, it is a bundle correct?

Not sure how that goes beyond ethics. Laws and rules don't supersede ethics.

Used price was $24.99 the last time I checked, so that's in line with the typical $5 less than new price that Gamestop typically charges.

It's been $25 used for a while though, even before the GH announcement.

Saw a couple of games I'll like to pick up, Spiderman:WoS and Battlefield Bad Company at 14.99 but don't know if a BOGO free will coming soon.
