Season Two of THE COLONY introduces viewers to a new group of volunteers with differing backgrounds, skills and personalities, to bear witness to how these colonists will survive and rebuild in a world without electricity, running water, government or outside communication. Over the course of 10 episodes, the colonists - who include a construction foreman, teacher, carpenter and auto mechanic - must work to utilize and strengthen their exploration, technology and survival skills in ways they've never had to before.
Another season is on now, haven't watched it yet but I'm ready.

Really people? There is a huge "BIG BROTHER" thread but nobody watches this? What has come of CAG...

First episode is pretty crazy. Looks like it's going to be a lot better this time - I had no idea they could use violence.

Yeah the level of violence on the first episode was what S1's was at its highest....

I hope this one feels more real than the first. I guess it only can so much because at the end of the day there are multiple camera crews.

Those two big guys are going to be bigger assholes than Michael and Joey on season 1. They were probably the reason the marauders pepper sprayed their asses.

Did anybody see that bum elbow drop that one guy, lol? I'd totally have tried to get security going (like castle style door locks out of 2x4's) but you know the two big guys would be like "Me big caveman. Me do security. You wash clothes." Macho fucktards.

Looking at the preview for the season, there's going to be some huge riot shield fights.

I hope they don't do some stupid shit though, like that fake-ass crap with
Joey leaving in S1
that totally put the brakes on any kind of believability that the participants were not performing scripted actions.

At least this year there's relatively normal people. not fucking rocket scientists and computer engineers building solar cars and tesla coils. Looks like this year they will be doing wind power, something average joes could pull off.

Yea that fake crap in Season 1 really killed the mood. It seems like in this Season they are staying away from the majority of that stuff.

But damn this group of people really aren't as good as the Season 1 folks, some of the crew in the first season were genius'. I'm hoping they construct a great defense instead of going on the offense every time the strangers come.

And the area is much better, instead of a warehouse in LA and having to drive to abandon places they are in a big abandoned area. I'm pretty excited for the rest of the season.

Also, I predicted the Jesus guy was going to flip out first. Out of nowhere he tackles the guy haha.

I liked season one and this one seems to be just as good. The only thing is I can not watch on Tuesday nights so I have to watch it on their site and the video just stopps at times. That and that ads seem to be twice as loud as the show. I'm waiting now for the last 5 or 10 minutes to play. The bad thing is it is not even some sort of buffer and this is the only video that it does it with.

Never saw season 1. I watched the first episode of season 2 and wasn't too excited. I think the biggest thing that I couldn't stand was the fake fighting. I understand that the contestants don't want to hurt the hired actors playing the marauders and vice versa, but to me that takes away a big part of the reality of the whole show. I might have watched with more enthusiasm if they brought the fighting in later, because that killed a big part of it for me. There's no threat of actually being hurt, and you can't take up the intensity of the fighting that would probably take place if this were real.

They weren't really fake fighting. The marauders got a little rough (mainly used nonlethal crowd control items against them), but you could tell some of the colonists were not sure if they were supposed to fight back. Like the lady doing half strength swats on the legs of marauders with that pole.

EDIT: Season 1 is up on iTunes for $10, $15 on Amazon VOD. I'd spring for the Amazon version, then you can use something like PlayOn to feed it to a PS3. DVD comes out in September...finally. There's existing DVDs but I think they might have region code restrictions.

I'm not sure I like the S2 volunteers as much as the S1 guys. too many carpenters, old guys suck, and the teacher and model are useless. But ep 1 was pretty good and this has a better map. In real life a gun would mitigate all the conflict tho. Im guessing defense is going to be big this season (which is tough for the show to do since no one can get really hurt), but I want them to focus on planting/hunting for food and building stuff. It also wouldn't be bad if the tv followed around the gang and showed what they were doing when they weren't attacking people.

I guess if I wanted more realism I'd stick to watching "dual survivor" on discovery channel but this is still entertaining and has room to get better.

The first episode was alright, but it came off kind of hokey with the fighting and whatnot. I'll give it a couple more episodes before I decide to remove it from my DVR list or not.

Definitely a fan of this show. Best reality type show I've ever watched IMO. Don't think its fake, I don't think I could watch it if it was.

:applause: I missed the 1st episode so I'll have to catch up, it may be awhile, I may just record it for now.

I have to say I closed my eyes through the majority of the pig scenes; that stuff is way too gross for me...

They started getting the idea of security but stopped; hopefully they focus more on it next episode. It doesn't matter how creative you are with inventions, if someone can come over and take/smash them they are useless.
