He told him this Tuesday when he bought Halo 2. He said that somewhere else you get a free guide, so he just gave it to him, no need to ask about it, or show proof at all. Pretty cool of the guy, it's a $16-$17 value.

It's in the Target ad for this week, although all of the Targets around me went OOS on the guides on the first day.

Yeah, I managed to snag one at about 11:00 am when I could get away from work . . . but they were gone quickly.
what does OOS mean? ...all these abbreviations are getting hard to keep up with it!
if you put your cursor over the OOS you'll see. However I can tell you it means out of stock.

I went at about 7PM on Tuesday and they were out. (Checked the 3 closest.) I was hoping to get the guide to sell on eBay to bring down the total cost of the game.

Since I don't have Live I'm really not in a terrible hurry to pick it up. I'll get it eventually.

Are they some thing I am missing, I have never bought a guide. I always thought it was pointless to buy a game then a guide to show me how to beat it overnight.

Personally I never buy guides. (That's why I was planning to sell it :D )

If I get stuck, I just check a guide on gamefaqs.com (for free) to help me past the sticky bit.

The Halo guide is pretty big though. I was curious to know whats in it.

I never bought a guide (with the exception of Morrowind which needs a guide).

Ditto.

I can imagine the only think worthwhille in the guide is maps of the multiplayer levels.

I buy guides when I buy rpgs or strategy games. I detest gamefaqs.com and the guide increases the games value when you ebay it.
