I know posted something like this a little bit back, but my Gmail account is going bonkers with spam mail. Every piece of spam I encounter, I tag as being spam, and I keep getting the same types of spam mail. Only, each time I mark it as spam, I get more and more spam. In the span of 4 hours (class time) I received 8 spam e-mails in my inbox, and over 50 since this morning in my spam box. Is Google going out of its way to let spammers know I exist?

Is anyone else getting the same?
 
Yeah I don't really get any SPAM in my gmail account either.

The auto-refresh annoys the hell out of me though. I tend to open it up to check my inbox and then just close the tab. I can handle refreshing the inbox myself when I want to check for mail, I don't need Google putting an auto-refresh in the header for me.
 
I know what you're going through.

A friend of mine has three gmail accounts. One of which got about 6-7 spam mails within a week of starting the account, and he hadn't used or given out the address to anyone. Two of the three have also been getting a steady one spam mail a day for the past week or two, but nothing before that.

My guess is that some spammers just took the current list they have, and just substituted @gmail.com after the username in hopes that people would sign up with the same name.

Obviously something worked for them if people are getting spam without using their account.

Hasnt Gmail been available to everyone for like a year now? I've been using it and I never had an invite.
 
Depending upon how easy your address is to auto-generate, it may have just been bad luck. One spamming tactic is to generate a bunch of random addresses at a certain domain. Sometimes they bother to take the time to see which e-mails bounce, and sometimes they just keep using hundreds of thousands of random addresses.
 
hey, guys, it's not about the fact that I'm getting spam. It's because the spam is being missed by the filter, and "reporting spam" does nothing about the spam, or if anything, seems to make it so that more Spam appears.
 
When you click 'Report Spam', it sends more, tattletale.
 
Just started getting spam in my Gmail account too. Except that I'm getting Engrish messages from people wanting to "make ur shy gun grow 3' overnight" and "AD0BE and other expensive softwares" except with some of the most random Engrish thrown in there too. I'm sure someone out there knows what I'm talking about.

I get those same exact ones. Really strange stuff...
 
hey i know its kinda late but does anyone have any invites for gmail i don't have it and i told a friend who wants it i'd try to find one for him pm me if you have an invite by chance thanks
