This has got to be the stupidest thing ever.
I went into Home Depot the other day to buy new faucets. They had a clearance table with some really nice faucets on it, and the one that I liked was $99. I didn't know what the price was at first (no sticker), so I waited around until an employee came over and helped me.
Before he could help me, I snooped around his desk and found a coupon. This is basically what it said:
"LIMITED TIME OFFER! Save an extra 20% off on all clearance/discounted Bath products. Offer valid from July 16 - July 23, 2005 No spending qualifications."
Considering that the faucets were in the BATH department and said "BATH" on them, I picked it up. Guy told me the price, so I went up to the counter to pay for it.
This is pretty much how it went:
*Cashier rings it through*
*I hand her the coupon*
Cashier: I'm sorry sir, this coupon doesn't work.
Me: ...What do you mean.
Cashier: This coupon is not valid.
Me: It was right on one of the desks.
Cashier: I'm sorry.
Me: How is it not valid? "Offer valid from July 16-23."
Cashier: I don't know, maybe this isn't a Bath product or is on special clearance.
Me: Uh, no. It was on a table. The table said "CLEARANCE ITEMS". It was in the Bath department.
Cashier: Well you can't use it.
Me: Call the Bath person down here please.
*Bath person comes*
Bath: Where did you get this?
Me: It was on your desk.
Bath: Well, it doesn't work because the computer already takes the 20% out. You can't use it twice.
Me: It already took 20% off $99? That would make it $79. So why does it say $104?
Bath: No, it already took it off because it was on clearance. Then it went on clearance again.
Me: That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
Bath: Well, you should've given her the coupon first. Then maybe it would've worked.
Me: But you just...! *growl* Whatever, fine.
