The Last Guy - Zombie Google Top-Down Game

Kotaku has a report saying it's a game that mixes Google Earth maps with a zombie epidemic. It has you leading survivors around as icons on actual google earth maps to safety.

Of course, Kotaku is often wrong as much as they are right, but the report shows a picture of a Japanese magazine article about The Last Guy which clearly shows google maps images.

that sounds so crazy it could be true, and if not somebody better start making it.

Maybe...

The planet has been ravaged by a strange disease, which oddly affects only the men. The human civilizatoin is at risk of extinction. You are... "The Last Guy". Your mission, should decide to accept, is to _service_ each and every one of Earths women.

But with an E10 rating, I am probably wrong.

You sir need to go into the game making business. :applause:

You my friend are mistaken on the E10 rating. The game is Grand Theft Happy, It involves the characters of little big planet taking on Liberty city.

Demo is out now in the PS Store, so get to downloading it.

Pretty good for the one level you get to try out. The demo offers you the chance to buy the game from within the demo, though there's nothing to buy just yet, so I'm wondering if it'll be out fairly soon over here.

This premise would work so much better on iPhone or GPS enabled smart-phones. This kind of reminds me of the PSP game where yo go running out and infect other peoples PSPs. That would have been awesome on phones. I'll have to check out the demo later... So many demos to try tonight.

i just tried the demo... it's okay so far. everything is so tiny even when you zoom in, it's hard to see some of the zombies. it might take some getting use to. i completed the first part with a minute left and i ran around and it wont let me cross to the other side of town cause it was the demo. i ended up getting killed by some zombie.

i am downloading this right now (and the force unleashed demo to compare to the 360)....i got excited when i saw the PS3 had background downloading (new to this console) but was kinda let down when i realized it didnt continue the download while the system was off.....oh well...

Anyway, the game was pretty cool and interesting, the demo I mean.

The demo was kind of fun but it was difficult to tell where it was possible to move, and a few times I even lost track of my guy. I don't think I'm sold. It would be cool if they let you preview more maps.

I love the extreme Japanese weirdness surrounding it, though. It's very Katamari-ish.

how are you the last guy when i just saved 750 people? it was alright....easy to lose track of your guy...

i dont like the way i have to be on a certain side of a building to get everyone out when you cant tell which side is the front/correct side to be on

Glad to hear the demo's up now... I saw some video of the Japanese version of this game a few weeks ago, and it immediately reminded me of one of the mini-games in WTF! for the PSP. I think there's a little more to Last Guy than that mini-game, but they play very very similarly. Worth a free download for the demo at least.
hmmm... don't know if I like the price... $10... seems like an $8 game or less to be honest.
I think it's good, because it's close to around $20 in Japan. The game is probably a decent length too.

true. I just fear the gameplay may not hold up. I'm probably wrong, but who knows.
I'm just surprised it got a 9.0 on ign... the demo didn't grab my attention, but I'm willing to get it if it's valid.
I'm waiting for more reviews, I wasn't overly impressed by the demo, but they seem to imply there's a lot of depth.

It let you down that it didn't continue to DL while your console was off? Huh?

I think what he means is that the 360 will download stuff when you tell it to shut down. It won't actually power off til after the downloads complete (or, what more likely happens, you get booted off XBLive, ugh). The PS3 just shuts down as far as I can tell, no "background" downloads once you tell it to power off.

Oh my god. Two fucking dollars. This price analyzing shit has gone TOO FAR.

You can pick up to six items to download on the Xbox 360, and then turn the unit off. The 360 will continue to download until it is finished and then completely turn it self off. I find this to be useful before work, before I go to bed, or even while I am playing a game on my PS3.

I'm on lvl 3 D.C. and am going nuts, I don't like going to the next level unless i get the previous one perfect! haha ocd..it's like pac-man almost basically

I must not know my Pac-Man that well, as I'm not seeing the obvious Pac-Man references, but mostly just Snake references with all of the collecting of people that follow you around the levels.

I've been playing level 1 a lot trying to get as close to a perfect score as possible... only 10 people have done that according to the leaderboards (all 2000 people rescued, which gives you a score of 5000). My guess is that to do that you gotta know the map layout cold, as well as the timing of the zombies... not sure exactly what the best path through the level is, but i've been trying to wait on getting the larger buildings later as i have a larger line to wrap them with... but then the zombies don't always cooperate so that wastes valuable time. Ah... I love this game so far... great balance in terms of strategy and action, and managing the limited stamina resource.

I've been having a good time with this game, though I think I'll be stuck on 3-4 for a while since it's essentially a boss battle of sorts.

I finally picked up this game after loving the demo and I must say this game is pretty good so far. I've completed 5 stages and I'm looking forward to completing the rest. The only little beef I have with this game is that there is no trophy support especially from a game made by Sony.

Finally beat this today and it was definitely a fun game. I'm not sure where these secret levels IGN was talking about are, as there are still the same 15 levels remaining after I beat the last level.

If I have this correct, I need to 3 star every level to get all of the bonus levels? I got the first three done, but this will be rather hard for the later levels since I'm not seeing every level having the same requirements for the three star rating.

I tried to find this thread a day or two ago to post about the Bluray version of the game. Hopefully the added content will be free.

thanks for all the info frisky i might just import a japanese disc, i liked the game and it took me about 2 weeks to get through it.
