Since the GBA is basically retired now (living on with the DS until Nintendo discontinues the Lite and makes everyone get a DSi :p ) I figured now would be as good a time as any to try and compile a list of all the best GBA games. Basically what would potentially be considered a "perfect collection" of games for the system. Granted this list is being made partly for selfish reasons , as I feel I have a pretty nice GBA collection already but am wondering if there are any really good games for the system I might be missing or have forgotten.

Here's the list as it stands now , made solely on GBA games that I already own or know about. If there is something on the list that seems objectionable , by all means mention it. Also , since many of the best games on the system are series and sequels , I'm going to condense most of these into a single entry. If this seems like a bad idea (not all the games in that series are worth getting) I'd be willing to break it up into the individual games. I've probably also left some obvious games off the list , but some of my games I didn't have right in front of me so I might have missed them.

That's a pretty decent list. There are a few on there I disagree with, but it's mostly a matter of taste. (I'm not that fond of RPGs)

I'd personally throw Puyo Pop and Puzzle Fighter on there to represent the puzzle genre. You're also missing the (import only) bit generations series. Sound Voyager and Digidrive would definitely make my GBA top ten.

The only top GBA game that I own that I don't see is Mario Kart: Super Circuit I love to play it's tracks on Mario Kart DS. I thought that Lady Sia, Lost Vikings, and Kingdom Hearts: chain of memories were great games that should be included on any top GBA games list as well.

I don't have many import games for the GBA , nor am I well versed in which ones would be worth anything. That said , I have considered adding a subsection for solid import games.

Super Circuit is one that I have that I forgot about. Thanks for the reminder. Lady Sia I heard mixed reviews , but most seemed positive. Lost Vikings I heard wasn't that good of a port , but maybe I heard wrong? Kingdom Hearts I left off because I had heard that the PS2 remake was supposed to be superior to the GBA game. Are they different enough to bother having both?
Astro Boy easily deserves a position on the list.
Good to hear. It was made by treasure so I'm not sure why I thought otherwise.
The only glaring omission I see is Mario vs Donkey Kong.
Another one I missed , good call.
Ninja 5-0 anyone?
Indeed, sleeper hit, and blame it on NO advertisement and packaging didn't help any either.

I actually saw 3 boxes at Target, for $20, passed on it, which I would have hopped on those.

I think we're missing out on all the good fighters for the series.

I have a few but haven't played much... if someone wants to list the "good" ones...

This thread is actually quite helpful since I've been looking to stock up on some GBA games I missed the first time around (this is partially related to my getting into making custom cases).

Question: Are there any online retailers where I can find good deals on GBA games? I've been poking around, though not too seriously yet. Are ebay and Gamestop used my best options?

Pretty much, finding GBA at retail is going to be a big hassle. and paying a good price for it to boot.

unfortunately used game stores might be your best chance to find any of these.

Ebay would be a close second but even then it's hard.

Thanks. My local FYE has a large selection and has them discounted at 50% off, but most are crap. There was a sealed FFV which I got for $15, but that is one of the few Advance games I already own, so I'm gonna hold onto it to sell or trade.

I guess I'll try Ebay or wait for another Gamestop coupon. I'm fine with cart-only, which should save me some money.

Another unappreciated gem was Wade Hixton's Counter-Punch. It's a Punch-Out!!! clone with a really solid presentation and a decent amount of character.

Picked it up from Circuit City back in the day for a couple bucks.

I just got Mario Pinball Land a couple weeks ago from GS. Must say that I'm pretty underwhelmed. It's a weird hybrid where the tables are levels and you have to advance through them (rather than rack up points) to move to another world. Because of that, the tables are pretty uninspired and are all circular.

But then I guess I sort of suck at pinball. That said, I love Pokemon Pinball and would recommend that for a more traditional pinball game.

Oh, and since I'm all over the place anyway, thought I would mention that I greatly prefer this version of Mario vs. DK (controlling Mario) over the later Minis (Lemmings-esque) iterations.

Oh and Coloris (bit Generations) kicks ass.

I really like:

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
Mario Kart Super Circuit
Metroid: Zero Mission
Zelda: The Minish Cap

I also have Boktai and I think it's fun, but there's a sun sensor that you have to use.

OP, i'm not sure if you own them but I would put Mario & Luigi SuperStar Saga and both Fire Emblem games in the best of all time list.

I would also add LoTR: The Third Age and Shining Force: RotDD but that is more of a personal preference of genres.

Also, GTA Advanced shouldn't even be in the second list. ; )
Not to shill, but goozex might not be a bad place to pick them up even if you opt to pay for points.
Agreed , I picked up somewhere between 1/4 - 1/3 my GBA collection from there.

Mario & Luigi and the Fire Emblems I have but forgot. Like I said , since I didn't have those games in front of me while making the list I knew I'd forget some , thanks for the reminder.

I had heard decent things about LotR and the Shining Force remake. Good calls. As for GTA , that's more a completionist thing for me than anything else.
Neither of the Super Robot Taisen games? For shame...
yep, 2nd this...

oh also Spyro: Eternal Night is a good one that snuck through all the releases....
I thought TMNT was a pretty good beat-em up like Turtles in Time.
I'm assuming your talking about the movie licensed one , not the one based off the TV series. I had heard good things about that.

It has been rectified. My Apologies.;)

Heard decent things about that as well.
