I just read Verne Gagne will be inducted to the HoF (I'm at school working on a paper, so I'm not watching Raw right now). That's pretty badass, and good for him to get some mainstream recognition since his last time in the public eye was the early-to-mid 1980's.

Sucks that Greg Gagne (Greg was to AWA what Triple J is to TNA) is inducting him; I bet he's all fat and middle-aged (well, I suppose I'm certain of the middle-aged part ;))
IIRC, Greg wasn't as bad as Jarrett. I don't think he ever held the AWA world championship and probably only a couple of runs as tag champ. Still, nepotism goes a loooong way in wrestling.

Hell, nepotism goes a long way in life, which explains why some people's lives are equivalent to a freeway and mine is equivalent to a dirt road.

No way, I don't believe that at all.

*Thinks about HHH*

Ok, well maybe just a little bit...

;)

BTW, before someone jumps all over me HHH is, in fact, my favorite wrestler but even I realize that he's where he's at right now largely because of his marriage to Steph.

I disagree, HHH is where he's at because no one else is capable of being there. There are no more Stone Colds, Rocks, or Mick Foleys on WWE's door. The only guys that are at HHH's level at this point are Kurt Angle (who is champion on SD) and Taker, who recently competed for the title at the last SD ppv. Tis sad. Batista could be on that level, but apparently he's old and could even be injury prone for all I know.

Is the new TNA bloodiest brawls DVD worth it? I kind of want to see the barb wire match and was wondering if the rest of the matches are worth it

Pretty decent for $15. You'll get your money's worth. :)

Wow... could Raw have shoved more products in my face in this one show? First the completely random Cowboy Troy segment, just to pimp USA's Nashville Star.

Then the completely random quote by Maria - "Hey, Trish, have you tried this new Bowflex M2 machine? It's so awesome!!"

Can't forget the great "OMG Torrie is knocked out, whats on her chest, its Candace Michelle's Playboy issue!!"

The Shelton Benjamin / RVD match was predictable as soon as Ric Flair came out to sit ringside... I'm getting pretty disappointed in the WWE in that regard. I'm really sick of run-in's and interruptions.

I really liked the Shawn Michaels vs Spirit Squad match... the gimmick is annoying, but the matches are not half bad. I still love the whole McMahons vs Shawn Michaels angle too. I really never know what to expect... for some reason I busted out laughing when Vince was like "Shawn Michaels... you are ON DRUGS".

Triple H tagging himself back out was VERY predictable.

Randy Orton running in and just nailing an RKO was the high point of the whole show... that came out of nowhere. I almost had changed the channel expecting another predictable boring match.

I wonder how WWE spins their financials; the deal with USA has them earning a *LOT* less ad revenue than the deal with Spike. Obviously, that's a major source of income that, IIRC, was almost halved from one week to the next. I suppose this may be how they make up for that (with Maria selling the gym machine).

Cowboy Troy, OTOH, is remniscent of the way USA used to have short storylines on Raw involving characters from new shows. They brought in William Shatner about 12 years ago when he was pimping som USA network show, and then they brought in Chuck Norris (star of no-longer ironic and now quite annoying internet adoration everywhere) when he was pimping Walker: Texas Ranger. He ended up being a "special enforcer" at Survivor Series, I bet.

I *am* assuming, of course, that Cowboy Troy was pimping "Nashville Star." You may have said that, but I've had two sips of coffee; you'll have to forgive me.

I'm still trying to decided if I want to even Tivo through Raw. The Colbert Report and Rollergirls? You're damn right. Raw? Not so much; when it comes down to deciding what shows I watch and what shows I don't, I'm pretty biased against public displays of people taking pisstests.

Looks like my self-ban from RAW will continue. Public pisstest? No thanks.

Another unwatchable 2 hours of crap. I dont even tune in during the commercials while Im watching 24 for the first hour anymore.

The second hour was horrible, and why cant Spike put the TNA rebroadcast on at friggin 11pm right after RAW? I always fall asleep between 11 and 12 waiting for that stupid TNA show to come on! :bomb:

Chuck Palumbo returns to WWE
By Ed Williams III
March 13, 2006

http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/palumboreturns

Chuck Palumbo is a true testament to the old adage that hard work pays off. Palumbo first came to WWE back in 2001, when Mr. McMahon bought WCW. Palumbo enjoyed a successful tag team career, winning the World Tag Team Championship on two occasions with partner Billy Gunn. Palumbo’s success began to fade, however, and he was released from his contract in 2004. But the former champion didn’t let the news keep him down. Palumbo went overseas and began working in Japan to hone his skills in hopes that he would one day return to WWE. His hard work has paid off, and that day has come. Palumbo recently signed a new WWE contract, and WWE.com caught up with him to talk about his time in Japan, how he got his new contract, who he wants to get in the ring with and much more.

Wait... why? I always thought Sean O'Haire had far more charisma. Why did they release him again? Didn't it have something to do with WWE parting ways with Piper again and O'Haire being heavily involved in the Piper angle at the time, so he was left on the outside looking in? And where did he go... ?

And what does this mean for Eugene?

I bag on the show alot, but it did have some high points.

Shawn Michaels vs Spirit Squad in the Texas Tornado Cage Match was pretty damn cool... Spirit Squad is a stupid gimmick, but they are really some good workers in the ring. I enjoyed that match alot.

The women's match was actually a fun match to watch. It wasn't great, but Trish v. Victoria wasn't half bad. More matches like that and maybe I wouldn't change the channel when women's wrestling came on.

The drug test segment was funny only to see Vince McMahon just go nuts at the end.

I say just watch those two matches and you can pretty much be done with RAW.

Possible TNA Lockdown Spoiler:

The current plan for the 4/23 Lockdown PPV has Christian Cage vs. Abyss for the NWA title and a War Games style match with Team Jarrett vs. Team Sting. Like last year, all of the matches will take place inside the six sides of steel.

Sean O'Haire had a good look in the ring. Other than that he just didn't seem all that impressive to me. I always thought Jindrak has better in-ring skill.

Mark Jindrak. There's someone I havn't thought about in awhile.

O'Haire wasn't so bad. He had a cool finisher, was fairly big and agile, and had a pretty scary goatee. His whole "mind manipulator" gimmick was quite lame, but if they brought him back, he and Finlay could have an Irish tag team. And of course they'd be drunk all the time. It IS the WWE.

One order for TNA Lockdown already confirmed. :D

Another TNA wrestler gone to WWE. Shannon Moore has re-signed with the WWE, right after TNA trademarked "Prince of Punk". Back to being a follower of Mattitude I guess.

Props to wwe.com for identifying the move Shane did as the Van Terminator.

source?

EDIT: Nevermind, if Meltzer sez it, it's very likely true. At least it wasn't (1) anyone in TNA who mattered or (2) anyone who will ever matter in the WWE.

Goodbye Impact, hellooooo Velocity!

For fuck's sake, fucking TEST worked a dark match last night for Raw. Are they that desperate to sign away schmucks that TNA might be dumb enough to sign?

Bad news in regards to TNA's prime time move...

TNA Impact's move to Thursday night in prime time has been changed.

Jeff Jarrett told the wrestlers at a meeting before today's tapings in
Orlando that executives at Spike TV have changed their previously
announced decision to put the show in prime time.

In what is actually a better move in reality, but perhaps not in perception,
the new time slot starting on 4/13 will be Thursdays at 11 p.m., immediately
following the highly-touted Ken Shamrock/Tito Ortiz season of Ultimate
Fighter.

The move of TNA was based on a Spike decision to move Ultimate Fighter
to 10 p.m. to figure into the prime time ratings. The new Thursday nights on
Spike start on 4/6, with a live UFC special at 8 p.m. and the first episode
of Ultimate Fighter at 10 p.m.

On 4/13, the line-up will be CSI at 8 p.m., UFC Unleashed at 9 p.m.,
Ultimate Fighter at 10 p.m. and TNA Impact at 11 p.m., which is the
line-up that by far makes the most sense for everyone.

And more TNA news....
- A few notes from last night's show. Jeff Jarrett did not suffer a knee
injury. He was just entertaining himself trying to work the audience with no
storyline reason. Some people feel the need to prove they are smarter than
their audience. Samoa Joe did aggravate his eye and lost vision and the
match was cut several minutes short and the major spots planned never
happened. He is thought to be okay and at last word was scheduled to work
tomorrow night at the tapings.

- The next TNA PPV, Lockdown, on 4/23, will be an all cage match show.
Christian Cage vs. Abyss will be the title match and there will be some sort
of a team confrontation with Sting's team against a team headlined by Jeff
Jarrett & Scott Steiner. TNA is working on a possible main event gimmick
cage for Lockdown that may be along the lines of the old War Games in WCW.

- Any reports that new CEO Kevin Day was brought in to cut costs are totally
incorrect.

- There has been no orders at the top to rid TNA of any talent. The idea
that talent is not pulling out all stops on their end is a result of the
booking committee not wanting the wrestling coasting right now.

- It's official that TV tapings in Orlando will move from Tuesday nights to
Monday nights starting April 10th, which will be the big one.

- TNA is working on a possible main event gimmick cage for Lockdown that may
be along the lines of the old War Games in WCW.

- BG James complained because he could not do the pelvic thrust before his
pump handle slam yet Norman Smiley shows up and does the Big Wiggle. Norman
is over bigtime in Orlando.

- The following are the currently planned World X Cup teams, but they are
subject to change:

Team UK - Doug Williams, Nigel McGuiness, Jody Fleisch, Jonny Storm
Team Japan - Jushin Liger (captain), Black Tiger, Gedo, Minoru Tanaka
Team Mexico - Mistico, Ultimo Guerrero, Ultimo Dragon, Rey Bucanero
Plus Team USA and Team Canada

- As of right now there are no discussions of bringing in Rikishi, even
though he works TNA talent heavy house shows alot.

- Hotstuff Hernandez is booked, TNA may start using him soon in LAX.

- Low Ki is considered unlikely to come in after asking for more money.

- Angles with the White Sox will play out all March.

- Homicide is pushing for Angel Media (Angel from Da Baldies in ECW) to get
a tryout for the LAX spot. Cide and him are good New York buddies.

- TNA and NWA Cyberspace are no longer working together because Cyberspace
promoter Billy Firehawk bounced a reported $1,300 check to Jeremy Borash and
$1,800 check to Jeff Jarrett and pull Abyss off one of their shows but still
used him to advertise it.

- TNA has trademarked the terms "X" as in X Division (for pro marketing
on the X Division) and "Samoan Submission Machine."

11 pm is just too damn late...
The thing is that TNA is at best pulling in an average of 0.80 while UFC is doing around 1.7ish. Now while yes UFC has been getting a far better push overall in terms of advertisement and what not on Spike it does make sense for NOW to have TNA Impact on after the two hour block of UFC. In the long run I do hope that Spike does start to push Impact more in advertising which will help out tremendously if Spike wants TNA to become successful. Word of mouth will only carry the product so far you know....

Team UK - Doug Williams, Nigel McGuiness, Jody Fleisch, Jonny Storm
Team Japan - Jushin Liger (captain), Black Tiger, Gedo, Minoru Tanaka
Team Mexico - Mistico, Ultimo Guerrero, Ultimo Dragon, Rey Bucanero
Plus Team USA and Team Canada

Outside of Mistico, that's an awesome lineup. I can't wait to see Rey Bucanero working the states.

EDIT: How could I neglect Ultimo Dragon, Gedo, or ol' SJ's favorite, Jyushin Liger? The only guys I'm not hot on are Jody Fleisch and Jonny Storm. They represent everything that's bad about flippity-floppity cruiserweight "I can get hit by a pickup truck, shot in the face and dropped off the ceiling, only to get up and hit a 720 degree flip into a hurricanrana from the top of mount everest!" style of wrestling.

That, and they're so tiny, they make Jack Evans look like Brock Lesnar.

TNA needs to get their ratings back up to be considered a strong threat when they move to Thursday, IMO. I think people might finally want something more than some decent wrestling when there isn't a squash match -- productions, in other words. Unfortunately, WWE will dominate them at this, part from experience and part from all the cash they have.

Test worked another dark match on Smackdown.

Shannon Moore signed with the WWE as well. :whistle2:k maybe Jeff Hardy and Raven will be next.

SD Results

Dark Match:

Test (in the face role) defeating Sylan with a big boot.

Dark Main Event

*WWE World champ Kurt Angle beat Mark Henry, Taker and Randy Orton in a Fatal Four Way.

do any of you guys know of any websites that have stories about controversies in wrestling or rumors?

I was at my buddys house last night and he showed me the ultimate warrior dvd and i thought it was really interesting to find out about all the stuff i never knew about the behind the scenes stuff. So i thought maybe there is a website that has a bunch of that stuff on it. if anyone knows of any, mind hooking me up? thanks

I thought Test got fired years ago. Matter of fact, I think he did. He hasn't been under contract with them for a while..
Shannon Moore signed with the WWE as well. :whistle2:k maybe Jeff Hardy and Raven will be next.
Jeff Hardy is very likely but doubtful about Raven since both parties don't seem interested in each other.

Let me get this straight - who in TNA doesn't have a contract? They can't be foolish enough to use talent at the top without a contract. Shannon Moore I could understand, as he's only been around for about two months. They *should* have made him sign, and hopefully this will teach them a lesson before a wrestler who people care about leaves to go to WWE.

OTOH, TNA is dead in the water if they're stupid enough to use talent for long periods of time without securing their services. WWE has enough cash reserves to hire people and either ruin them on TV (y'know, jobbing clean to Rob Conway or something) or just not use them at all. TNA knows that, and should be smarter than to use non-contracted talent as anything but a jobber on TV.
