This is the problem with the idealistic young. They got BIG mouths but don't back it up. So far it seems that those young people that MTV and Puff Daddy pushed to vote didn't bother.

You got no one to blame for that one but yourselves. If you didn't vote then STFU.

In the end this election results will show again that those under 21 were pretty useless.

Well, in their defense, more did show up. The same percent (17) showed up this year as in 2000, considering every other group was up as well, more youth did actually show up. Though they were supposed to increase more than the other groups, they failed at that.

I would like to see when the results are final and analyzed how the percentage broke down for age groups on who voted for who.

I suspect that not as many voted for Kerry as the CAG poll would leave you to believe.

because the youth in america are 95 percent ignorant. this of course, was not polled, but the belief of yours truly since i go to school with kids who are generally 5-7 years younger and us older folk know how much smarter we are with even one or two years more of life experience under our belts. you cant tell me that there are this many young repubs in the country- these lazy binge drinking, ambercrombie rocking bastards couldnt take mom's SUV to the polls?

Morbid- props to you for getting out there. nuff respect-

I agree 100%. If you don't like Bush and you didn't vote for someone, then defender is right. STFU.

I've heard reports of as little as 10% (same as 2000) of 18-24 voted in NY. It was rainy and cold yesterday, that may have kept some at home.

It's my last election in this bracket, and I'm 4-4 in voting, though NY is too highly a Democrat state for me to make a difference.

WTF, Who in their right mind says, "the weather outside is crappy so I'm not going to vote." Would anyone not take a love one to the hospital when it's raining/snowing outside? I'm pissed because I got family in the Army and now they have a bigger risk of becomeing disabled or killed. Also, Before anyone askes if I voted yea I did for Kerry but I live in Illinois which is mostly democrats anyway so it was a givin that Kerry was going to win it.

I know I'll regret starting this.. but the largest reason we lost so many lives in Vietnam was a lack of support by the public and the government. How can you be so sure that Bush's higher likelihood of continuing a war is going to cause more death than Kerry being stuck somewhere he doesn't want to be and letting them dangle on a string?

This was my first election and I voted... I voted for Nader, so I guess my vote was useless, but I picked a candidate who appealed to me.

I should've written in "Mr. T" That way when they do the final tallies, it'll be millions of votes to Mr.T's one. He's against all odds, as you may very well know.

Maybe they didn't vote because they are disgusted with all of the candidates. How messed up is it to be told you have to choose between the lesser of all evils? It's your choice to vote just like it is their choice not to vote. Why should voters be the only ones entitled to voice thier opinions? - Especially if the non voters did not like the choices to begin with?

Flame on!

good job getting out there too young man. i voted for nader in my first election. though if i lived in a contested state, i would have thought long and hard and voted for gore- being that ny is democratic, no matter what i did,it didnt matter as long as i voted. if i lived in ohio or pa or fla or nevada or nm i would have made sure i went to the booths with 100 people making sure they got out to vote.

The problem I have with somehting like this is that young people often think the only office up for grabs is the president for some unknown reason. This simply isn't true, in fact there are no doubt congressional and state elctions that will have a much more direct impact on your day-to-day than the presidency. You don't like like your choices for president...fine don't vote for president. However, set aside at least an hour of your life to learn something about the other elections going and vote because they certainly do effect you.

I was about to say the same. My ballot was an 11x14" paper, both sides were full. President [which actually had at least 4 choices IIRC], bunch of state judicial and congress seats, and a couple of referendums. Abstain from the presidential election if you want, but there's plenty of other races to make your voice heard.

First election that I was legal age to vote. Voted Bush in Colorado. Not that you guys care.

Bush has stated that he's going to stay there for however long it take until we establish democracy in Iraq and without any help from other countries (Sorry Poland and England aren't enough) So, now there's no telling when we'll be out of Iraq. btw I'm 18 and voted Kerry in Illinois.
