Saw this on CNN today: http://www.cnn.com/2008/TRAVEL/02/11/laptop.searches/index.html

It seems as if customs agents can randomly search through your laptop or any other device such as a blackberry if they want to. Personally, I don't think they should have such broad rights. Hell, a few bad employees could copy all of your personal info and sell it off. To add insult to injury, they can keep said devices if they want to as well.

All I know is that I'll be watching this issue carefully. If it's decided that they are allowed to have this much power, then I'll just leave all of my stuff at home. It sucks to be someone who has travel a lot with electronic devices, though. Go EFF!

I learned about this two years ago. From what I understood, ALL types of pornography are not allowed to cross the border. Fatherland Security have methods on how to scan your entire hard drive for traces of porn. It'll scan all your jpegs for high amounts of flesh tones, then it goes from there....

This security grid that's been built around us for the past 10 years is not to catch terrorists. If you're a White Middle Class Starbucks drinking/ Mega Church attending/ SUV driving/ Law Abiding/ Tax Paying/ Yuppie and think that somehow you're "immune" to all this; that somehow this is designed for us "evil brown people", you're wrong, this is being done especially for you.

"I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am."
