CAG Reviews:
SithFran: "Well let me say that this is a good movie. I saw this saturday morning at the Mills in Tempe, AZ. I haven't read the above reviews but I thought this was a well done movie. I watched the turtles and read the original comics back in the day. I was afraid they would screw this up like everything else being remade, but rest assured they don't. The battle in the rain was very well done emotionally and visually, very realistic looking."

2Fast: "Just got back from watching it. It's decent; not as good as the first two movies, but way better than number three. It's pretty short and light on story, but I don't think anyone expected it to be otherwise."

KingBroly: "It's better than 2 & 3, but not quite as good as 1."

whoknows: " It was entertaining. It wasn't anything amazing or a must see, but it was a fun movie to watch."

Mr. Anderson: "Just got back from the 4:50 showing, and it exceeded my expectations. If you're a fan of the show, I say definitely go."

jlseal: "It's better than 2 & 3, but not quite as good as 1.
Going to preview it tomorrow night since I work at a theater, I'm pretty excited X-D
I'm pretty pumped too. It's been 14 years since TMNT has been on the big screen, and I'll be there opening day!

Ahh good ol' Rotten Tomatoes...

You'd think a site that merely compiles review scores couldn't possibly be biased but they somehow manage to find a way.

Wow. This is quite the intelligent and reasonable review. They must just let any critic join the site these days.

wow.....

well, its march and ninja turtles are hitting the big screen. im going for my birthday party, followed by beers.

They should have changed the title of the movie to:

Disney presents TMNT

If you read his other posts, any mainstream movie gets terrible reviews, and indie movies get better reviews. He called 300 "pro-war propoganda". And while I agree, most new movies are shit (ESPECIALLY recent ones) I don't think that these types of critics are best to listen to. Mainstream doesn't always mean bad.

Anyway, I'll see this eventually. But I'm not sure how good it'll be. It doesn't seem to have the same humor that the old movies and shows had. That's what turtles are all about. Hell yeah.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is little more than an overtly violent elongation of a Saturday morning cartoon.

Wasn't the comic book very violent and they dumbed it down in th cartoons?

"A throughline of organized violence permeates "TMNT" as a baby step toward preparing youngsters to become soldiers in America's never-ending war on humanity."

Yup. The first issue of the comics has Leonardo imapling Shredder with his kitana, lots of blood included.

Because the first thing I want to do after I see TMNT is somehow mutate myself and battle an evil clan.

As much as I hope this turns out good it wont. The movie will probably be terrible. I will let others CAG's Churn out their hard saved $7 to see it before I do.

Damn, I wish I still had my Ninja Turtle toys. I remember Leonardo's katana would always fall out of his hand, piece of shit plastic. Good times.

I don't see why the name had to be TMNT... seriously, that sounds fucking stupid. Should have just called it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Most people I talk to are like "Wtf is TMNT?", then you've got to explain what the letters stand for and they go "ohhhhhhh yea, I remember that".

What the hell? That's exactly what I'm doing.

...are you actually me?

It's sad that Mako passed away so they'd have to recast his voice for the next movie.

If anyone wants spoilers, let me know.

OP updated.

Excellent news!

Yeah...its a must see for me. I fell in love with the turtles since i was a kid. When dvd's first came out those were the first ones i bought.

Yeah...rotten tomatoes is such a strange site. Everything i want to see its garbage reviews on there yet seem above average when i watch them.

Sometimes i honestly want to ask crictics what they are looking for in a movie.

What the fuck are you talknig about?

Have you seen any of the commericals for the movie? ALL OF THEM say "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and TMNT is in the background.
Wasn't the comic book very violent and they dumbed it down in th cartoons?
Dumbed down is an understatement. In the comics, the turtles never ate pizza and partied and yelled "cowabunga" like there's no tomorrow.

There was no dumbass Bebop and Rocksteady. And Shredder usually kicked the turtles' ass and in a very bloody fashion, like an above poster mentioned.

The cartoon and the comics couldn't be more different. Almost like a WTF happened here for people who read the comics first, then watched the cartoon.

Not ALL OF THEM; and the name of the film is TMNT.

Answering Roufuss' question: The house of ideas and marketing named it TMNT to make it hip and current for this generation of brain-dead children.

Just got back from watching it. It's decent; not as good as the first two movies, but way better than number three. It's pretty short and light on story, but I don't think anyone expected it to be otherwise.

Lack of Shredder and familiar supervillains kind of hurts it IMO (although the Foot Clan is in it). The movie mentions an "evil dimension" a few times, so naturally I thought "DIMENSION X!!!" Unfortunately, it was just a tease. It is also implied that Shredder will be back if a sequel is made.

Blasphemy.

Nothing could be better than Mutant Turtles that were born into the way of the Ninja, but traveled back in time to learn the way of the Samurai.

Well, I feel dumb. I just realized/remembered that this is all CGI. Looking at the photos on imdb it looks like crap. I dunno, I think I will wait to see this even though I loved them when I was a kid.

It's better than 2 & 3, but not quite as good as 1.

I've seen critic reviews, and most of them are insane. Why? Because they contradict themselves over and over again.

Went to the first showing today (since it was cheaper).

It was entertaining. It wasn't anything amazing or a must see, but it was a fun movie to watch.

Oh, I forgot a very important WARNING about this movie.

This movie IS NOT presented in 16:9. It's presented in something wider, so unless your movie theater has extremely widescreens, it should have black bars at the top/bottom of the screen. Otherwise, it looks stretched and weird.

I got a free re-admit pass for their mistake...AMC.

in the past few weeks, i haven't seen a single one that actually called it "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." it's always been a flash of the logo at the end with the announcer calling it "TMNT."
It's better than 2 & 3, but not quite as good as 1.

Yeah, that's how I'd put things. the CG was pretty good, but couldn't escape that "everything looks like rubber" look that they tend to have. I enjoyed it anyway. Also, April was hawt ;)

When I say the critics contradicted themselves, one said the movie didn't follow the kiddy nature of the comics....okay, that means he's a liar. One said it wasn't as goofy as the first one....it was? Do they consider cursing goofy?

I give it a 4/5. The voice acting was pretty good. The textures could've been less rubbery, but it worked. The first 10 lines Splinter had could've been redone.

Hey, what was the audience genre when you saw it? When I saw it, it was mostly little kids. But that was at noon.

Definitely enjoyed the movie. CGI works well for this series, and it allows them to do quite a few scenes that would have been impossible with the realistic TMNT. The voice acting was excellent, and the lines didn't sound too forced. The storyline didn't scream originality, but it sufficed. If you enjoyed/enjoy TMNT at all, I give this movie two thumbs up... probably an 8/10.

KingBroly, when I went it was probably 80% little kids/parents, 10% teenagers, 10% adults w/o kids.

They could've been reffering to the Archie Comics, not the Mirage Comics.
I'm going in a few minutes...

I'll prolly just go to the bar...
No bar, unfortunately,

and I just ended up seeing 300 again.

CAG reviews have me hopeful. I figured if it's better than #3, then it's good they brought it along.

I love(d) Turtles as much as the next guy that grew up with them, but I couldn't watch #3. *shudder*

My nephew-in-law, who is 27 and loved the turtles as a kid, took my 6 year old son. Both loved it. My nephew was actually trying to drum up someone/anyone in his age group to see it, but no one was biting or they were busy. My neice finally told him to call and see if my son would like to see it. I was a bit bummed that I don't get to now. They were stoked they got to see it on opening night, okay and my kid was thrilled to stay up an hour past his bedtime.
