Miss Cue Rocks! Guitar Hero II Tournament​

Registration will start on Friday October 12th, 2007 and end at 7PM Friday November 16th, 2007. There will be a maximum of 32 competitors so register early!
Seeding Round - One song will be chosen at random. All competitors will play the same song on MEDIUM. The highest score will get the first seed, second highest score will get the second seed and so on. Seeding will start at 5PM Friday November 16th, 2007 and end at 7PM. In the event of an odd number of entrants the highest seeded competitors will get a bye.
Tournament - The mode setting will be changed HARD. The number of competitors will determine the format.
Up to 16 competitors – double elimination
17-32 competitors – single elimination
Songs for the tournament will be selected at random. Most points wins.
Finals – The final 2 competitors will play 3 songs head to head. Each competitor will choose 1 song and the judges will pick 1 song. The highest combined score for the three songs will determine the winner.
Entry Fee - $10.00
First Place – TBD based on number of entrants
Second Place – TBD based on number of entrants
Third Place – Last Place – Prize Pack

Side Game - $5.00 entry. Highest score on "Jordan" by Buckethead on Expert Mode wins the pot. Enter as many times as your fingers can handle!

I think I could kick ass in this tourney...I did manage to beat the game on hard and almost 4* all the songs as well

but then again, I probably wouldn't fit in..
 
Really, it should all just be played on expert. It's surprisingly hard to go back to lower difficulties once you're used to expert.
 
We were tinking that Hard Mode would help even the playing field a bit because the "good" players who play Expert Mode may have some difficulty adjusting back to Hard.

I wouldn't be opposed to having two tournaments that night though. The regular one and a "winner takes all" Expert Mode one. Anyone interested?

I'm not gonna go because it's too far away, but evening the playing field isn't really the purpose of a tournament. Why would you try to penalize the players who are good at expert by forcing them to play on a lower level?

In my opinion, Guitar Hero tournaments with players of different skill levels should let the players choose the difficulty level. They would play on the lowest level that they would be willing to play on. For example, if both people wanted to play on medium, they could, but if one person wanted to play on medium and one wanted to play on expert, then they would play on expert. This gives the bad players a chance to compete with others around the skill level, but doesn't penalize the good players and lets the best ones succeed.
 
You could try posting this on scorehero.com. I'm sure most of them would love the side game.

You should definitely let people pick their levels or include hard/expert. Although the idea get to medium/hard would get more people in and this is sponsered by Red Octane..

Nice to see there's a tournament, why can't there be one n my area..

See thing is, that wouldn't be any better than just having expect to begin with, since if your not that good at it your still being penalized. Granted, the better player is suppose to win, but having tournaments like this drives out anyone but the hardcore.
 
I live like a mile away from there. I haven't played GHII for a long time now, and even when I did I wasn't all that good at it. So I'll pass.

Most people on scorehero would want to play on expert, though.

But isn't the purpose of a tournament to find out who is the best? People that aren't that good shouldn't get any sort of handicap in a tournament, especially if it's got some prize money for the winners.
