A good friend of mine just totaled her car. She doesnt have that much money, her family wont be of much help, and of course she has a job that she needs to get to. Public transporation out her way isnt much of an option either.

I was wondering if there are any organizations out there that could help her, or if anyone knew of any good shopping tips for insanely cheap cars (yeah, they'll be shit cars, but this is on of those interem kind of things)

Thanks in advance!

(smart ass answers will also be nice, if anything to get her to laugh)

Or, she can hop on your shoulders and ride you to work....or bed.

Seriously though, I'd say she should explain her situation to her co-workers, and see about carpooling with some of them if possible. Otherwise, she'll have to explain to her boss about not having a car and try to work something out.

A bike. It'll save her money on gas aswell. Now, if her job is out of the distance of a bike, she can ride the Cole Train.

Because the Cole Train is always a smooth ride, baby.

Have the nearest co-worker that lives close to her go and pick her up / drop her off, and (depending on how the person uses gas) split the gas bill? A temporary remedy, until she finds another car or until car is fixed.

Nice :) She'll love that one...

Well, as far as co-workers go... that whole "very little money" part has to do with her current shit job which has maybe 6 other people on staff. Living 1/2 an hour away and that makes it a bit of a pain in the ass for co-workers and that bike riding idea.

Now, being the smart girl she is, she has a couple of job opprotunities lined up... this just kinda throws a pretty big wrench into it.

Insurance... well, I believe it was actually her fault (or at least partly her fault) that the car is now totaled, so I don't think they'll help out too much

Thought about that, but I work just a bit more than she does... If anything I'll drive her around for just the cost of gas money (if that).

She either doesn't have full coverage or she can't afford the deductable. Neither one fits the bolded statement.

how much money does she have, or is she able to muster up? i would check craigslist, she could probably get a temporary clunker to get to and from work for several hundred.
