Toys R Us additional %50 green tag

...thats the sale thats been going on for quite a while now. Unless they want to give an extra %50 of %50 off merch, than thats fine....i doubt it though.

Yeah, I don't think it's 50% off of the stuff that's already 50% off...I think they're just advertising the sale that's been going on for a while.

The way it reads to me, it is an extra %50 off the %50 stuff. If you read it, the ad (on the back of the flier and in stores) says and ADDITIONAL %50 off already clearanced grean tag items, this week only. I guess you'd have to confirm in store. Maybe just a misinterpritation...

If that's true, you can bet I'm going to be picking up a metric buttload of those clearance games to trade in 4-for-1 at Hastings. 8-)

I stopped at the TRU in my hometown yesterday, and they had a TON of green tag games left. Semi-rare ones, too. So...they are still out there, if you're willing to drive.

Now there is going to be a markdown on select green tagged product. I did notice some old GBA accessories and stuff. You just need to check and see. I think i saw some GBA cases too which are not bad. Also check stratagy guides.

Someone that works at TRU said it was an additional 50% off. Too bad it's not 100% off, 'cause then we'd literally make out like bandits, but I've heard it's 50% off the 50% off price because they need to get stuff outta there.

I'll check @ mine today.

Yes, please do let us know. :) I was going to do the Buy 2 Get One Free on the clearance games anyway, but if this is for real, I'll get an even BETTER deal. :D

I saw this but the TRU I was in had nothing special beyond some $10 GBA games (all of which were garbage). I do regret not picking up the Unicron Transformer for $25 though.

Ugamer_x, I don't think that's the same thing as what the OP was talking about...he seemed to indicate that it was a blanket price drop on ALL the green tag stuff. I hope it's the blanket price drop and not the weird list posted in that thread.

For the green tag thing...keep in mind that the green tag prices are before 50% off. If there was any discount on top of that they wouldn't have made it so confusing. They would have changed it to 75% green tag or whatnot.

"Additional 50% off" has been advertised for weeks already. Awhile ago I asked a TRU employee if it really was an extra 50% off, but he said it was only the regular 50% off. I think their base price is their clearance price and the green tag is the savings. The guy did say that people were asking him the same thing because the wording was confusing.

Anyway, I did pick up some green tag sale games today, but they were the expected 1/2 off.

My toys r us said it is only 50% off. Their explenation is "It is an additional 50% off the already reduced green tag price" In other words according to them the green tag is an "on sale" price already then they are "nice enough" to give you 50% off of the sale (green tag) price. This is why they say additional...

After reading the TRU ad's specific wording on the sale, it doesn't seem terribly confusing that it's just 50% off. I think that the reason we all got confused is because we already knew about the green tag sale. So seeing the word "additional" would have made us think they increased the savings to 75% when it really just means "additional" to the green tag "original sale price" or "additional" to the savings for your overall shopping experience. Someone who didn't already know about the green tag sale would probably just read it as being 50% off.

I went to one Toys R us today and didnt see anything good. They still have the $29.99 green price tags on some 2k3 sport titles.

Reality's Fringe said:
MY friend is saying that the games he just bought today have been ringing up at 50% off the Green tag price! He got True Crime for $5, ICO for $3.50(Free with the sale), PN03 $5, Eternal darkness was 7.50 and more. Get your asses out and check!

I thought the past several weeks' ongoing sale always was 50% off the green tag's "original sale price." :?:

Eternal Darkness is not that cheap. It's $50 or $36 depending on your TRU(before the 50% off). There is not an additional clearance on the stuff, but there were 249 Green Tag items that got marked down today. Mostly N64, GBA, GBC accessories. I posted a list last week of all the video game items that were dropping, a lot got really cheap(see other thread).

I saw Front Mission 3 ($29.99) and Final Fantasy Tactics(14.99) both 50 Percent off. I was so busy with the 2 for 1 sale that i did not even bother to check the green tag sale thoroughly. Also, i think they still had multiple copies of Dragon Warrior 7 for 19.99.

Nevermind. He got back, the dumbass haggled with the cashier over the flyer and said it RANG up like that. Heh, he didn't lie, I just got everything all bugaboo. Sorry guys.

I'm a little confused, isn't what it is green tagged already 50% off or is the actual 50% off price, 50% off what the green tag says. In other words, if the shelf tag in the case for a game is $49.99, but the green tag says $24.98 on the shrinkwrap, will it still ring up $24.98 or $12.49?

It'll ring up 12.49, all discounts are taken off at the register

Sweet. I'm going back to TRU tomorrow and seeing if that 50% off Disgea
slip I stashed in with some crappy Gamecube titles last month is still there (it was there a couple weeks ago). It'd be choice if I could score that game for $12.49.

Yeah as far as the TRU 50% sale goes... I'm like so way over it. I've done gone and got what I was gonna get.

I've yet to see anything new to develop of interested except maybe the buy two get 1 free deal.

read above. A miscomunique with my friedn resulted in the confusion. I apologize, the 50% tags do NOT constitute an extra 50% off. But you'd still be crazy not to get Disgaea for $25.

My TRU has a lot of green tags games left, especially for PS2. However, they don't have Disgaea, and I have been looking for that cheap. :(

Yeah, my TRU still has quite a few green tag games left...most of the heavy hitters are gone, but there's still stuff like Dino Stalker, Onimusha Tactics, Phantasy Star Collection...perfectly decent stuff for the prices. I'm still pretty glad that the B2G1 deal applies to these, because it's rare that a place stacks promotions like that.

Local TRU's here suck. GREEN TAGS ON SPACE INVADERS FOR THE GBA! It's only marked as 39.99!

Let's not forget Black and Bruised at the low low price of 39.99!

Hey! I bought that one at TRU for 50% off. It's actually a pretty good game and worth the money IMO. It's somewhat rare too and goes for decent $$ on Ebay.

I picked up Fatal Frame for xbox for my sale, it was marked at a green tag 49.99 but rang up at 39.95 50% off so it ended up being 19.xx and I also had 2 other 30 dollar games and I ended up getting a 30 dollar game free because of how the green tag works.

Yes but why in the world did they ever start it at $40, I mean you think of space invaders you think of atari and atari games are normally cheap and come in multipacks, did they ever think that people would by $40 new at a store for a gba game?

They have held onto Dreamcast N64 etc items mostly crap for two years after everone cleared them out. They have wasted valuable space carrying these cheap games that nobody wants. They don't know the gaming market at all. They still have old sports titles on there shelves prices 39.99 and 29.99 that aren't worth a dollar. They deserve to go under for neglecting the game market. I think they are getting out of the gaming business and maybe toys also. Half the store that used to have really cool stuff now has baby clothes and furniture. I'll be sorry to see them go under. It used to be one of my favorite places for games and systems , but that was years ago.
