Managed to find Warpath & Wheeljack last night. Also got myself DOTM Roadbuster as well. Haven't mess with Roadbuster yet. Don't even know if I still want it. Might return, don't quite know yet.

Found myself a Thundercracker this afternoon. I also bought a Battle Blades Bumblebee because it was only $7. Excellent figure that really surprised me, super tall for a deluxe. And since they had DotM out and it looks like deluxe Starscream is shortpacked as I only saw 1 out of 8 on the shelf was a Starscream.

So, despite not buying any figures in months, I ended up picking up 3 new figures.

Found some DOTM at a TRU in Clovis (was there for funeral). They also had the Generations guys I was missing. Blew my toy budget for the month in one go. Scourge, Thundercraker, Kupp, Cybertronian Soundwave, Wheeljack, Warpath, and DOTM Roadbuster. I was gonna grab a new Bumblebee too and now I wish I had. I had no luck finding any of these guys at my local TRU back home in L.A. Any idea why the TRU in bfe had so many good finds and the TRU locally has zip?

No Ebay scalpers would be my guess.

Roadbuster is okay. All of the money for paint apps went into the car mode, so robot mode looks especially barren. Car is nice. Transformation is interesting. Getting it back to a car that rolls again is a little fiddly, but once you learn how (force it!) it's fine. Gets some points for some things in the transformation that I haven't seen before, but I was just not blown away. This may be because I opened Roadbuster after Megatron. Megatron is godly. Roadbuster is not bad, but doesn't measure up.

The MechTech weapon is okay. It's fairly small, and you can put it on either front door or the roof, so you can even have it mounted on the far side of the car if you don't particularly want to see it.

The shoulder-based missile launchers are a neat idea, but a little awkward. I keep wanting to pose them in ways they don't go.

The worst thing about it is the lack of paint in robot mode, but at least that can be fixed.

Note to self: open Megs last :D I hate having a bunch of figures and ending on a dud. I generally try and guess which will be the "best" and save it for last.

Just managed to get some of the DOTM Legends at Walmart today. Wish I could have started with something a little more interesting, but I guess this builds up the anticipation. I need to be on the lookout for Warpath now. Him, Grapple, and the Powercore Dinbots are all I need. I'm not even going to kid myself about finding Windcharger until a re-release.

Have nearly everything preordered through HBTS, but am still damned tempted to go to Target on Sunday and buy everything anyway :D I love the launch of new lines, because it means I can walk into a store guaranteed to find something I don't have yet. Also, I like being able to fill an entire shopping cart with toys at once...

The line launches on the 16th, not Sunday ;)

If your stores are like my stores, they won't have product to sell on the 16th due to breaking the street date  So definitely not guaranteed unless your store has been extremely strict on street date.

The local Wal-Mart already put out their entire stock of DOTM figures yesterday, I went today and all that was left was deluxe Crankcase, Ratchet and a HA Bumblebee and I nabbed all of them.

I know two local Targets are already cleaned out due to people having DPCI numbers and employees pulling figs from the back.

I mean, DOTM hasn't even officially launched and this week I've grabbed Voyager OP and Megs, Deluxe Ratchet, Crankcase and Bumblebee, and HA Bumblebee all off store shelves, didn't have to ask the employees or anything. Street dates are beyond stupid for toys, especially since retailers think they are a joke.

Bah I'll just be patient for the figs I don't have preordered. Unlike other lines that are dieing DotM will be easy to find figs for for a long while.

Guide of Wave 1-3? figs:
http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=10974

There are already a stupid number of repaints, remolds, etc. Anyone have a complete list of repaints/remolds? So far I've got (unless I'm mistaken on some):

Deluxe:
Cyberfire Bumblebee = repaint of regular DotM Bee
Thundercracker = repaint of DotM Starscream
Specialist Ratchet = repaint of DotM Ratchet
Mudflap / Skids = heavy retools of each other like in RotF or just repaints??
Nitro Bumblebee: Is this a remold of an exisiting fig or is it a new mold?

Voyager:
Fireburst Optimus Prime = repaint of DotM Prime (with a kickass weapon at least. Tempted to wait for this version actually)

Cyberverse Commander class:
Prime (with flame swords) = DotM Prime / Preview Prime with new accessories

Cyberverse Action Scene:
Prime, Megs, BB, and Screamer all available without playsets as repaints of same mold.

Human Alliance (larger class, not the new Basic sized ones):
Bumblebee = repaint of RotF HA Bee
Skids = repaint of RotF HA Skids (couldn't they at least have done mudflap, who was found by pretty much nobody at release)

And this doesn't even include the fugly TRU exclusive transwarping repaints with the clear plastic parts, the exclusive legends sets, etc.

At least this time most repaints come with new mechtech weapons...

Am I missing any or wrong about any of the above? Still can't believe the first three waves are launching practically simultaneously. Poor planning Hasbro.

Found wave 2 deluxes at Target last night. I picked up Topspin (one of the Nascar transformers) and also saw Barricade (looks exactly the same as previous from what I could tell), Jolt, and Sideswipe (looked weird with his vehicle mode being topless).

The downside is that Target seems to have their deluxes priced higher than Walmart. Target was $11.99 for deluxes and Walmart was $9.96.

Wave 1 and 2 are launching today... I don't think Wave 3 comes out until closer to the movie. They get kids whipped up into a frenzy now, and then in a month, when kids want even more figs after the movie, Hasbro has new ones to throw at them.

Definitely not poor planning, in my opinion... DOTM, at least at Wal-Mart, is getting an end cap and a huge placement in the toy aisle. By shipping Wave 1 and 2 simultaneously, they are throwing a wide variety of figures out there at once.

Hasbro does this for most of their new lines now (they are trying this out with Captain America, as well).. since retailers overorder the shit out of these, they get a ton of variety right from the beginning and less chances of any one figure pegwarming.

Look at Generations... stores overordered on Wave 1 to the extreme, and we saw nothing but Optimus Prime and Bumblebee for months. If they launched Wave 2 with it, they would have split orders evenly and the pegs might not have been so clogged.

ah, valid point sir. Hadn't thought about it like that. I think I assumed Wave 3 was out too because of the flyer from Australia, but I guess not. Hopefully they slow down a bit though, my wallet is crying :D

Only found one place that had DOTM figures out over the weekend, and it was just Leader class (I think that's the size) Bumblebee.

Did come across a decent supply of Animated Rodimus (6) and Ironhide (7) at one TRU (Towson, MD). Non-clearance price of $14.99 still applied. Also came across a couple Masterpiece Grimlock at the Owings Mills TRU, still $70.

Got an e-mail from TRU advertising the release of the new figures, they're giving away the preview Prime with 3D glasses figure free for Transformers purchases of $25 or more.

http://www.toysrus.com/promo/index.jsp?promoId=11636820

This might be online only, haven't found anything that indicates it's available in stores. Will be visiting a TRU or two this evening, have a $5 off $25 purchase coupon that expires today.

Fairlakes, VA TRU had the DOTM set up but honestly there was nothing that I wanted. Almost bought Megatron and Prime, but honestly I am going to wait til the one with the trailer comes out...will make it more epic! No sign of Soundwave or Shockwave...hmm..

Local Target put out the new line...and a case of Reveal the Shields showed up on the pegs...Perceptor for $2.98, I'll take 2 thank you!

Picked up Megatron, Roadbuster, Powerglide and the preview Optimus (free) at TRU. Think I'll pick up Sentinel Prime. Need to pop into my local Target and Walmart to see if they got in some non-DOTM TFs.

Bravo, local crappy stores and shitty distribution!

They overstocked Wave 1 at five different stores I went to, no Wave 2 in sight!

Real glad I preordered Wave 2 at BBTS.

picked up dotm voyagers optimus, megatron, and the free preview optimus at TRU yesterday. they also had a voyager ironhide, but i decided to skip that one since theyre making a leader class ironhide. does any one have an idea when leader ironhide is coming out?

What's in wave 1 that's not in 2? My TRU only got in wave 2, no cases of wave 1 at all.

I dropped ~300 on the HBTS order, and by my estimation I've got nearly 200 more to go just to get through wave 3... Gonna be living on Ramen for a while :D

Grabbed Shockwave , Backfire (the new HA 3-wheeler with Spike Whitwicky), and DOTM Bee at Target yesterday. They had a bunch of the standard issue Primes as well as the Con HA snowmobile (forget name). Bee's gun is so huge, his little arms can barely stay posed while holding it. But it's a good figure, slightly retooled mold. Shockwave is awesome.

How could you forget ICEPICK already? I told you to pick him up...better than Tungsten/Thunderhead...

got my shockwave & skyhammer today @kmart (of all places lol) i even picked up all 4 HA figs :D that's it for me till Botcon, ne1 else headed there this yr?

Not me, but I've got the BotCon Animated set on preorder at BBTS (which is the only reason I'd go anyways.)

Got lucky and got one of the few they put up... right place, right time I guess. I'd much rather order it through them then eBay.

Picked up Sentinel Prime (leader class) from my local target as he was hard to come by online. I passed on the 3 wave 1 voyagers, though I want to get Megatron eventually. Also passed on the leader Bumblebee for now. Wish they would have had the exclusive Voyager Starscream.

Wow, am I disappointed in the majority of figures. They aren't all "bad" per se, but they aren't nearly as well done as previous lines. Way too many figures use the "ehhhh, place this dangly part generally here" style of transformation (ala Top Spin's wings). Things don't have set places to clip into (sometimes in both modes!) and that really bothers me. A lot of figures also feel incomplete as they have giant gaping holes in one or both modes (Voyager Prime's vehicle mode). I've also noticed a lot of discrepancies between the manuals and actual figures (or manual showing one thing, and the packaging showing another).

The Cyberverse playsets are complete shit too. Bumblebee's shows you can clip the jet pack to the truck, but I don't see how, and Starscream's looks goofy and the hinges aren't tight enough to hold the correct "transformation".

On a positive note, Voyager Megs, Shockwave, and Skyhammer are great. Really wish more figs would integrate the mechtech weapons like Megs and Shockwave. The mechtech weapons are cool, and the Voyager ones actually lock in place.

I think this may be the first line which I'll be selective from here on out (instead of indiscriminately buying all figs). And no Botcon for me, can't take time away from the lab :(

I'll be there. Trying to get everything ready for the trip now, we're getting in early next week from Ohio.

I think he looks more like some demented robot chicken or Kaiju mecha-turkey. And his instructions show a different, less goofy-looking head.
Wow, am I disappointed in the majority of figures. They aren't all "bad" per se, but they aren't nearly as well done as previous lines.
I've been really pleasantly surprised by some of the figures. I have to be selective with prices here in Canada, so I've avoided Voyager Prime, the playsets, and some of the others you didn't like.

The Human Alliance Basic figures -- was not really expecting to like them this much. I was expecting something like PCC two-packs with sidekicks that didn't transform. What I didn't expect was that the little humans would influence the vehicle modes in such a positive way. Backfire is easily the best in class, but Sandstorm and Icepick both have clever touches and fun vehicle modes. I haven't even messed with their weapon modes. (I did not get Thunderhead given the wacky vehicle mode -- I'm waiting for a review or a sale)

Also really surprising were the Cyberverse commanders. I wasn't going to get these as I don't collect Legends. I usually don't like the loss of articulation and detail. But then there's Cyberverse Blackout. Wow. I like it better than Voyager Blackout. It's like a Deluxe squeezed down into a cute little thing. Transformation is amazingly clever, especially for something so tiny. I also got Powerglide but haven't opened it yet.

I also have a fondness for Crankcase, who reminds me of an Insecticon. I held off on getting him but there was a sale. Vehicle mode is kind of blah, but it's like an inverse Roadbuster -- all the detail went into the robot.

Still waiting for Wave 2 up here, and waiting for Wal-Mart to get the Leaders in so I don't have to pay extortion prices for Sentinel Prime (who goes for $60 at TRU Canada. Ouch.)

I'm starting to really like this Shockwave figure. I didn't like it at first, I bought it cause I love shockwave, but now after transforming him and just looking at him, I really like the figure. This mechtech stuff is a nice thought but really not needed. techdeck, mechtech, just a ploy to get children interested.

Managed to pick up Voyager Megatron, Skyhammer, and Shockwave at Wal-mart today. Was surprised to see the latter two in the wild.
Managed to pick up Voyager Megatron, Skyhammer, and Shockwave at Wal-mart today. Was surprised to see the latter two in the wild.
IMHO the three best figs in the line so far. Hope you enjoy!

Also, TFW is reporting that Voyager Sentinal Prime and Fireburst Optimus are out in the wild as well. Still haven't tracked down a leader Sentinal, and I've gotta keep my eye out for the Voyager one too? yikes.
Buy 1 Get 1 50% off all DOTM toys next week at TRU.
Thanks, was gonna go out and pick up some Voyager figures tomorrow but I'll just wait for the deal next week.

Some nice unveils at Botcon so far. Especially some legends and commanders. They gave us a free Prime kreon with the matrix exposed. I'll be posting some pics on twitter if anyone interested at twitter.com/theumx.

Lots of nice reveals at Hasbro panel. Target has Human Alliance and deluxe of red Wrecker. Prime toys coming in Dec., with deluxe Cliffjumper, Wheeljack, Soundwave and others like Ironhide, Ratchet and Voyagers. Not all in the early waves, but they're coming throughout 2012.

So jealous you're at Botcon. Really wish pics were allowed in the panels, but I understand that would take away the value for those who actually attend. Will we be seeing more new figs in the displays tomorrow or have we seen all the reveals so far?

Heads up, the TRU BOGO 50% deal did not apply to the scout-sized DOTM Human Alliance figures. That deal is for the DOTM deluxe/voyager/leader sizes. All other TFs (other DOTM toys and all previous lines) are 10% off.

Very underwhelmed by Botcon news this year. I guess since at this point I only collect Generations and some MP I was bound to be let down. I just don't dig the Prime toys or series at all. There are a couple DotM figures that I may pick up after seeing the movie but so far have just not pulled the trigger on any on my many trips to the stores. On the bright side thats a lot of dough I'll be saving.

Speaking of saving money I am off to Disneyland next week and need all the extra cash I can muster so if anyone is interested in the following please shoot me a pm -

2007 movie Ultimate Bumblebee (missing instructions)
G1 Blaster - (missing left side of handle, blaster, slight sticker wear but overall very tight joints and good condition)
Revenge of the Fallen Target Exclusive Bruticus Maximus - never been opened, slight crease on the Decepticon logo on the fronf of box but other than that pretty excellent condition assuming you're a MIB collector

SDCC isn't that far away (is it?) so hopefully more stuff will be shown then. I hate the Prime show (seriously, somebody there needs to learn how to do lighting and framing of scenes properly) but those figs look pretty sweet imho.

I think the Prime show is okay, but I think the toys are great. I can't wait for Arcee and I don't understand how anyone could not find that one in particular to be exciting -- especially after the first movie and ROTF versions (eeugh).

While I do wish there was more focus on Generations, I think a good number of the DOTM molds are good, and it's usually later in the line where things start to get interesting. I'm still digging Megatron, the HA basics, and the Cyberverse commanders and eagerly awaiting when I can find Shockwave and Skyhammer.

The FansProject stuff at Botcon was also exciting to me. The not-secticons looked great and I know I'll be getting them. The G2 Prime trailer (which combines with RtS G2 Prime) also looks interesting, though I want to know how much goes toward combination and how much becomes a kibble "base".

Also glad to see that Masterpiece Rodimus is coming stateside. I didn't buy the Japanese one in hopes we'd get Hot Rod (minus the trailer).

Anyone else picking up any Kre-O sets? I'm disappointed they don't transform (but the horrible Built to Rule line during Armada did and they sucked anyway) but some of them look cool. Just saw a video review of Prime on TFW2005.com and immediately ordered from Amazon. IDK if I'll pick up any more, but Prime just looks to sweet!

I'm disappointed that they don't transform, too. There are plenty of people on the net who have made transforming Lego Transformers, so it's a little weird that Hasbro can't.

For me, it will depend on price and quality. BtR was awful and I was burned by those. They can look great, but if they don't hold together, they're a waste. Fortunately, it looks like the quality is pretty much there.

But also...the fact that they don't transform is pushing me toward not buying them because it's completely impractical. Legos take time to build, usually a lot of time. I don't see myself "transforming" these by rebuilding them more than once.

I watched the video review. 4 hours to build the vehicle mode. 4 hours! He didn't even say how long it took to build the robot. I'd totally sign up for however long it took to build a transforming Lego Optimus, because then the time investment isn't there every time you want to transform it.

The little Kre-ons (or whatever they're called) are cute -- they might sway me on some purchases.
