Hi I was wondering if anyone could recommend a few good TV shows that are on DVD because I just finished watching Buffy season 7 and am quite depressed that its all over....Are there any good shows that are either like Alias, Buffy, or Angel that are out and if so which would you recommend? I was thinking of firefly but I'm not sure. I'm definately looking for something sci fi If you guys have any suggestions thanks

If I were you I would definitely check out Firefly. It's only $30 something and it's more than worth the price. It's a very unique and entertaining show. And it's Whedon too.

Blasphemy!!! Nothing beats 90210 EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd say try watching The O.C., cause a lot of people bash it, and it isn't a perfect show, but it's slowly become one of my favorite shows, as it has an awesome sense of humor, isn't full of itself, and has some awesome music. But as far as shows sorta in the same vein as Alias, Buffy, and Angel, the two I'd suggest are Firefly, which has already been mentioned, and The Dead Zone. TDZ is an awesome show, and if you order the first two seasons from Deepdisountdvd, you can get them for like 35 bucks shipped, total. It's about a man named Johnny Smith, who gets into a car accident and is in a coma. He wakes up and gains the ability to see visions when he touches people. It's an insanely awesome show, so go buy it!

EDIT: Oh yeah, and 24, as suggested below. Shaq-fuing awesome show.

24! How could that not be on your list? I'd especially recommend it now that the new season will start in January. You can watch Season 1 this month, Season 2 early next month, and Season 3 gets released around mid-December. Get started. Seriously.

If he can afford $100+ a season.
The original series is out now on dvd (or at least some of them are), and I would recommend picking up those classics.

24 is definitely worth every penny and especially season 1, which imo is the best storyline.

just finished watching dark angel a month ago and i have to say, this is the most underated show ive ever seen....everyone was bashing the hell out of it, but i couldn't get enough of it.....

people are mentioning other tv shows that fall into other genres....you asked for shows that are like buffy, alias, and angel....id say 24 and dark angel fit into that genre....but not the oc, simpsons, family guy, etc....though id recommend any of those plus more to anyone

Yeah, that's why I said in the vein of shows like Buffy and Angel, he should try watching The Dead Zone, which I think definitely fits in that category.

I'd also recommend Dark Angel.

Family Guy rules and then Seinfeld comes out this week. Sorry I don't have any Sci-fi recommendations

This weeks entertainment weekly had a nice feature of shows on DVD. They listed the best and worst seasons of the shows as well. it may be worth checking out they list 50 different shows. On another note I am a huge fan of Buffy and Angel and I watched one show of firefly but couldn't get into it. Is this one of those shows that takes a couple of shows for you to get into it?

It's a large cast so it does take a little time to get into it, it could especially hard experience depending on which episode you watched. Give the series another chance and be ready for the movie which comes out in April.

law and order:svu or criminal intent, its not sci fi but i guarentee u'll like it, i never got into law and order, but svu and CI are the best shows
CSI isnt bad either(judging from one episode i watched)

Stargate SGI is a scifi show with a mix of action and humor.. eh.. Fry's has the seasons on sale for $29.99 every once in a great while.. usually around the time a new season comes out. Great series. Many times better than the movie.

The Shield. This has to be the best show on television. It has some of the best acting on TV, a kickass story, and a bunch of ass kicking. Any show where a guy's face is put on an electric stove gets an A in my book.
