Two Worlds

CdnArmy33

CAGiversary!
Picked Two Worlds up a couple days ago for $15. You know, this isn't that bad a game. Sure its no Oblivion but I think it got unfairly compared.

If your into "dress up" It has Diablo Style loot collecting. The combat takes getting used to but is actually fun. Its very challenging. If you play hard you will be running away from most things for a long time.

There is a lot of depth as well with spells, combat moves, traps, making potions, skills etc.

The voice acting and dialogue is horrible! But usually i'm only half listening anyways.

I'm glad I gave it a chance. If you need a Diabloish Western RPG fix this might be worth it for you. Demo is on XBL.

This is the only thread I found.

I am finally going to give this game a chance after all the negative reviews and critics. I have read that when you install the game, it improves a bit of the frame rate issues. I also have read that a lot of people who stick with it, and have not hit any major game crashes, end up really liking it. Also, 7 bucks was a small prices to pay to check it out.

Anyone know why the hell this is still like 50 bucks at amazon?

Yeah I actually enjoyed this game. It wasn't the greatest game ever, but it certainly wasn't as bad as the critics made it out to be. It does take a few hours for the game to really get going though.

I'm actually looking forward to the sequel. Hopefully they can fix some of the flaws the first one had.

Was there ever a patch out fr the game to address any of the freezing issues ? I have had the games for a long time and never played it due to the fact that everytime I left the first cave the game would freeze up at some point in the next 5 minutes.

Also... there are some codes out there to allow you to cut out some of the graphical options on the game which increases the framerate tremendiously.

Good game until I found out some achievements were glitched and all my work was for jack squat. No way was I replaying this just for those couple achievements.

They have since been fixed however so if you are a new player then by all means

Interesting, maybe ill give this a shot as i have nothing else in my collection, i've been bored with my current games and traded all my games worthy of getting something decent in return. I got it new for $5 at gc on new years. Actually once i get my sound settled ill play any word on the framerate code?

Yes a patch came out and if you want all the achievements you need to make a new game after the patch is installed.

I'm really waiting for something good to come out in the RPG field. This isn't any better or interesting that many other titles out there. Ever since, Baldur's Gate, I haven't seen a game that really got you involved as much.

Baldur's Gate, and Planescape....oh how I wish they could come out with a game that would just scratch at their brilliance.

I am a little over 3 hours into "Two Worlds" and here are my initial thoughts.

Negatives first....

The Frame rate is bad at times, but so far not as bad as I was expecting. It really never gets a smooth flow going, and during battle there can be a slight pause. It is not horrible though.

I had one crash already that froze my Xbox. I have since learned to save about every 15 minutes, or at least after any major incident.

Inventory management is poor. Icons are small, and it just does not feel natural. While not something you can't figure out, after 3 hours it still is slow to navigate, and just does not feel right. Also Magic is clunky in its inventory execution.

Voice acting is 70's dubbed Hong Kong movie bad.

Overall graphical quality is sort of a shock after having played games like Fallout 3 or even the older Oblivion, but graphics are not everything.

Positives.

I am having fun. Combat so far is interesting, and a little more engaging than Oblivion. While ultimately it is going to fall into a pattern of slice, dodge, move, run, slice, magic, slice... it just feels more connected than Oblivion's combat.

Leveling up is fun. I am always a sucker for RPGs when it comes to character creation and the developing of those characters. You do not get to create your character (which was a little disappointing) but the leveling up so far is much more fun then Oblivion although a lot less detailed, but still varied enough to move beyond the generic JRPG leveling.

Alchemy has been fun. So has weapon stacking which works really well for those of us who like to keep everything we find.

I have done a few quests, and they are simple so far, but one dungeon I found, that I think might have been a little above my level, was really challenging and fun....and the rewards I found were 10x as powerful as my current equipment, with spells I will not be able to cast for another 10 levels. I heard the game does some minor scaling with your character, but not as bad as Oblivion, and I like that. Oblivion messed up on that part in my mind. You never found a secret dungeon in Oblivion that was so hard you ended up getting killed. Two Worlds has parts above your skill which makes the leveling up even more exciting as it opens more opportunities. It also makes that cave you find on the side of the road more nerve racking.

I keep bringing up Oblivion because obviously this game wants to be Oblivion. The surprising thing is I am having more fun with this game than I thought I would, and while I don't think it will ever approach Oblivion quality, after all the negative press I find myself enjoying this game. I am still early on though, and have heard glitches can hit you in the game at any time, so we shall see.

If you can find it for under 10, pick it up.

I kinda liked Two Worlds as well, but I got it from Goozex and few days later some dude I worked with offered me 40 for it. LOL I knew it would be very very cheap soon enough. But if I ever had time I would go though it.

I just finished this game. What a fantastic surprise. It was shorter than I expected. In fact I ended up with 900 achievement points, did most of the side quests and still beat the game in about 17 hours. This review sort of sums up my feelings on the game. I think the hard drive install actually fixes some of the complaints in this review. I would give the game an 8 out of 10.

I was told this game was sucked by fans of Oblivion. Since I dislike Oblivion...maybe I'll like this :D

I loved Two Worlds and I paid full price at launch (or at least close to it) and I wasted at least six hours of my life trying to convince myself that the 1 frame per second I was getting online was playable and that it wasn't a big deal that my friends constantly dropped out of the game.

Much like Saints Row is more fun than GTA and the corny dialogue actually adds to the experience, I found the same relationship between Two Worlds and Oblivion. The only problem with Two Worlds is that it has technical issues that put it below Saints Row in terms of overall quality. Despite all its flaws there aren't many games for the 360 that I enjoyed more than Two Worlds. It was just fun to play.
You mean last week. That sale ended Thursday.
Yeah I suck i went in to a GS last Friday and they still had Two Worlds out instead of Madden 07 PS2 (lol)

Holy smoke, these codes make this game 100 times better!! This is def holding me over till the broken steel fallout dlc!

From Gamefaqs:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=932336&topic=455404-

In the game, hit back to open the inventory screen.
-press and hold LB and RB, then hit A, and a little bar pops up.
-Hit X to bring up the virtual keyboard.

Now you can enter commands to turn off certain aspects of the graphics (1 at a time)

engine.grassq 0
engine.shadows 0
engine.usedynamiclighting 0
engine.waterreflections 0
engine.autodof 1 (makes the distant scenery slightly fuzzy)

-Hit A to apply

Some of these like shadows can take around 90 seconds and your xbox may seem frozen. Grass is instant.

You can also take off only some of an effect...

engine.grassQ 0.35

This will reduce the number of grass on ground to about 1/3 of the full grassed laggy world. So, the ground won't be "empty" and it will run smoother than before. If you wish to completely remove grass, simply enter "0" instead or "0.35".

To have these effects work in multi-player, just go into single-player, input the codes you want, and then exit out and go into multi.

Turning off or reducing grass is great for spotting ingredients and small creatures on the ground.

I was excited to get Two Worlds because it reminded me a lot of the Gothic series from what I had seen but I wasn't impressed at all when I got it. Oh well, it's hard to get near Gothic's level of ass-kickery.

Yeah weapon combining is great, I remember when
after a certain quest everyone in the Asian city was dead and they all had katanas on their corpses. I made an über powerful katana.
