U.S. Army to Sponsor Global Gaming League

This brings to mind one of Solid Snake's many, MANY groan-worthy moments: "War as a video game. What better way to make the ultimate soldier."

EDIT: The worst part is that such jackassery is perfectly typical of the MG universe. :p

"Are you good at Halo? Wanna come home in a bag after fighting a pointless war with no successful end in sight? Come join the global gaming league! One lucky champion will get to play a REAL first person shooter!"

I hate that the US Army sponsors anything ever and that there are commercials on TV. To think we spend millions of tax dollars promoting the fact that we do indeed have an army.

You forgot Halliburton.
There are no respawns in Project Iraqi Freedom.
No if I play Halo enough I will unlock the achievement of respawns in real life.
The Army is really starting to tick me off.

I just posted about the amazingly disturbing ARMY Commercial I recently saw here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134510
Don't blame this shit on the Army. Do I have ANYTHING to do with the recruiting campaigns? No......Have I done two tours in Iraq and have an upcoming tour in Afghanistan? Yes....
People don't understand a lot about the way these things work. It is recruiting, not mandatory that you attend or go to these events. We don't throw you in the back of a truck and Vietcong style bring you to Iraq.

I'm very sorry, I should of clarified. I dont mean the Individual People in the Army, I mean the people in charge who decide the ways of advertising Recruitment. I have a big Issue with recruters who actually go after new recruits, such as Setting up booths at High Schools and going to Malls. I think that If the people really in their hearts want to join, they will find their nearest recruitment office and Join up. And lately Refering to war being like a video game, Just really made me angry.

I have absolutely nothing against the Army Itself. I deeply appreciate the work our troops do. I know Freedom is not free and the Army is the ones that protect Americas way of life. I'm Very sorry if I offended any current members of the Military, It was not my intention.
