Inappropriate? Questionable? Maybe and yes.
I wish I had a campaign slush fund that allowed me to hire family members and dole out salaries like this. Then I could still claim a modest Senate salary and pretend I'm just "Joe" average guy (with a sweet pension and healthcare plan for life).

I tried to link to the Huffington Post article to give this more credibility to the lefties out there, but it seems to be overrun right now.

I theorized to my political argument clan that Biden was chosen because he's the only Democrat that squeaky clean enough to be a running mate, plagiarism aside, and vanilla enough not to be opposed on general principle. I guess Biden's just one of the boys, just like all the others.

Is there evidence that his family firms are not doing the work?

There is nothing actually wrong with hiring family members who do campaign related tasks to do campaign related tasks. Also, this money was from his failed campaign and not from.

Also, from the source article

Mr. Biden is hardly alone among members of Congress whose campaigns hold close ties to family. FEC records also show that Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain's political action committee, Straight Talk America, paid more than $15,000 in 2006 to his wife, Cindy.

McCain campaign spokesman Brian Rogers said the payment reimbursed Mrs. McCain for catering expenses she had covered in connection with an election night party.

Because she is short on cash.

It is no worse than hiring your bother if he was a contractor to fix your roof.

Unless, of course, someone else was really footing the bill. And the "Everyone else is doing it" argument doesn't invalidate alleged impropriety. You should know that by now. Or maybe not.

But no one else is footing the bill. Did you read the fucking article or just the headline?

I remember that I bought my father-in-law dinner the afternoon after he hooked up my new water heater. Where do I turn myself in?

I paid somebody to replace some parts on my car a few weeks ago without looking at their family tree. Will I be OK?

My mom used to work at Wal-Mart. I buy groceries there from time to time. Am I as guilty as Biden?

Maybe, are you an elected official ?

Of course not. However, did Biden use the donations inappropriately?

I don't want to defend Biden, but I don't see the smoke or fire.

I disagree. He's a shill for the banks and I'm not surprised he's pulling this shit. I thought it was a bad choice when Obama picked him.
