I'm going to be travelling abroad to Europe (hitting both France and Italy, whose outlets are apparently different from one another) and am looking for high quality and inexpensive US to EU Adapters/Converters. From what I understand, most contemporary laptops are able to convert the wattage, but I'm not sure about the PSP/DS/Kindle I'll be carting around with me as we drive from France to Italy--so something that converts the wattage as well would be Most Excellent.

I tried googling for answers, but it seems that any site I found was just pandering their own goods; all the positive Amazon reviews I found were on adapters, not converters. What I really need is a Live Human Being to let me know what adapter/converters worked for them, or didn't!

So if you know anything about US to EU adapters, have any recommendations you can offer or deals you can link me to, it'd be most appreciated!

Thanks!

My wife uses a cheap adapter for her US laptop whenever she goes home to France. I'm pretty sure I charged my psp when I was in France too using a regular adapter but that was years ago.

62t brings up an excellent suggestion though.

Thanks for the suggestions--already have a DS car charger, so can easily use that. I'll just have to pick something up for the laptop, then, and hope it functions for everything else.

Thanks for the help; if anyone has any specific brand recommendations, it'd be really appreciated!

I would highly recommend this plug adapter from Kensington.

Note that it doesn't do anything about the voltage, so you still have that issue, but this adapter is sturdy and works well unlike some of the cheapie adapters you will find that don't provide very good contact, overheat, break, etc.

I also recommend taking along an extension cord with 3 or so U.S. 3-prong outlets at the end so that you can plug in more than one thing at a time and still only have to have the single plug adapter.

For your laptop or any other device that is dual voltage (110/240v) just buy a cheap adapter

For a smaller item 100watts or less use a cheap transformer/converter like this

http://cgi.ebay.com/100W-AC-Power-V...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3a591ba021

But first Find out how many watts the psp/kindle use find out if they are dual voltage (like all laptops are)

You should be able to see the info on the device themselfs or on the plug that goes into the wall
If it says 110v only.. then youll need a transformer.. It it says 110-240v.. then you only need a adapter.
