Used Guides at Gamestop

As of Thursday, July 14th, Gamestop no longer takes back used strategy guides.

All remaining used guides in stores have been reduced to .99 cents.

Get them before they sell them.

Yeah, checking to see if they'd gotten any good guides in was the only reason I've been shopping there lately. All used guides have been $1.99 as the GS I go to.

Actually it is the ONLY reason I ever go into GameStop . . . good job guys.

Why would they stop this?

They give people 50 cents and sell them at $2 (sometimes higher). In my experience, most guides would sell.

Same here. My only local GS is inside a mall, where my 2 nearby EB's & a Rhino are all in strip malls. Running in & out of a store > fighting the crowds at an actual mall. Really sucks tho - I usually managed to find a good guide I didn't have most times I stopped by my GS.
 
Well that sucks....it was pretty much the only reason that I ever went to my Gamestop. Oh well.

Sad thing is that I am addicted to those things. I've got at least 4-5 guides for games I don't have (La Pucelle Tactics, Shining Tear, Xenosaga 2, Halo 2 and probably some others).

Oh well.

yeah this does really suck the only reason i still went to gamestop is for the used guides. i got some rare guides there like grandia and breath of fire for only 2 bucks

went today and picked up

devil may cry 2
splinter cell pandora tomorrow
ninja gaiden

for .99 each. there was also a few others like pokemon collosseum and mario party 2 that i passed on

Which GS was that one? The one off of Maplecrest had them all marked down to .99. I asked them and they said they didn't know anything about not accepting guides anymore. I picked up a FFX guide. I already have one, so I'll use it for trade. Other than that guide, they had nothing good.
 
I have 11 on my birthday gift card left and I can't imagine a better time to use it. The used guides were the only reason I went to Gamestop too so this is horrible. I saw a lot of 64 guides before (Paper Mario, SM64, etc) but didn't have enough to get them all but I've made out with some good guides before so this is a really sad thing.

though the employee tried to take my chrono cross guide.
oh well.
 
Oh man that really sucks. Shopping for used guides was the best thing about going to Gamestop. Bummer. Actually, that's one of the best deals I've ever gotten......... I once snagged an original Chrono Trigger Nintendo Player's Guide for $.99 or $1.99 shortly after FF Chronicles came out (I guess somebody bought the PSX version and traded in the SNES stuff....... foolish. But their loss is definitely my gain.)
