Valkyria chronicles 3 petiion

I read you can use your CC to order off the Japan store? So couldn't you technically just buy the digital version of VC3?

It's not like you need to be able to read to play VC.

True but the i enjoyed the story in the first one and plan to start the 2nd one shortly. Losing the story would take away a great part of this series.

Everyone said the story of VC2 was ass, which says a lot considering the original's (I understand why some people liked it, though).

I was judging the 2nd one based on my experience of the first one, guess i should read some reviews and info. on it. Thanks for the heads up!

I signed, but am contemplating importing it, even though missing the story will blow. VC2 is not anywhere as great as VC, but I still think it a good game. I played through it as soon as it came out.

Officially not surprised; officially disappointed nonetheless. I think one of the comments in the link had the right idea. They should make VC 2 and VC 3 available as a single-disc two pack for the PS3 like they did for the God Of War PSP games.

I think we need more people to buy 2.

Instead of a VC3 petition, I think we should try and get them to port both PSP games to the PS3 in HD. Seriously, I cannot stand VC2 on the PSP... it just doesn't feel right because they basically took the set-up of the PS3 VC and poorly squeezed it to the PSP.

And think this part sums up Sega's idiotic approach to this series.
During a recent interview in Singapore, Sega's team manager of console sales, Hiroshi Seno, confirmed that the game would not be localized due to the PSP platform not being popular and well liked in North America and Europe.

So they know the PSP isn't popular in the west, releases VC2 in the west on the PSP and then are disappointed with the sales? How fucking stupid are they?

^^
The doors not totally slammed as they say in the last paragraph they might do a DD only release once the Vita comes out. Small hope, but better than none.

Thing I've never understood is why take a series built from the ground up for one system and port it to an inferior system especially when people just started to take notice of it (the game was a late bloomer) on PS3. Then they wonder why the sales of the PSP version (most people who own a PS3 do NOT own a PSP) tanked when the series went from one system to the other.

I understand development costs were less, but honestly if the engine was already built and optimized to run on PS3, why spend more time and effort to create a new engine to run it on PSP.

Sega seemed to be out to kill this series even before it got its chance to succeed.

They should pull a Yakuza and just localize text and leave JPN V.O. that wouldn't cost them nearly as much and then do a DD only release for those who are really interested in purchasing the title (as they've commented on they might do eventually)

I think it would be a great idea to bundle up the 2 PSP games in HD. HD Collections seem to sell well and since so many companies are doing it, I doubt finances are a real issue.

Now all people have to do is convince Sega that it's a worthwhile endeavor to do something like this.

Hmmm...Operation Windfall comes to mind. ;)

Do you know how shitty it feels to not only play a watered down version of Valkyria Chronicles, but to also play it on your home HD home theater setup? It will seem twice as bad since we've all played the superior original game. You can't even use the excuse, "oh well I'm on a bus so I'll settle for the lesser game..."

Same concept for the God of War PSP collection on PS3, it's like -- wtf am I even playing?

They need to stop making portable games so predictably dry if they want sales.

The PSP is considerably more popular in Japan than in the US.

I understand that logic perfectly, I meant why they took a completely serviceable engine that ran and was optimized for the PS3 and downgraded the game to play on the PSP, even with the large contingent of PSP owners in JPN.

It didn't make any sense to take your grass roots user base that started to support the game and alienate them by moving the game to a less powerful and not as widely owned hand held system for the sequels.

That is what is what confused me about this whole situation with Sega and Valkyria Chronicles.

The director said he wanted to develop smaller games for the PSP, and that a new console Valkyria should arrive when the franchise takes an exciting new direction. Basically, he's milking the current formula in the most affordable and efficient way. Perhaps when they add something substantial to the formula, we'll see them put all their hearts and money into a console game gamble.

But my gut tells me that is the official line and that Sega told him the series was going to die unless they shifted development costs to a cheaper platform hence getting downgraded to PSP, even though the game had a late word of mouth, grass roots campaign that brought sales later down the road.

Now I'm just basing this assumption off of what my gut tells me and reading between the lines but that's what I see as the real reason for that. I agree though they want to get some better sales to a PSP --> PSP upgrade HD version or build the missions in the VC1 engine and release the game that way, I don't think it would be too cost prohibitive since the engine is already built and wouldn't take too much extra work to add some detail to the assets and get the game out within 6-8 mos. I'm being speculative, since the chances of this happening are slim to none, but it would be nice.
